I look at my father's harem or Wu Jinmai's. I wonder if there are even twenty of them who haven't slept with my dad.

The royal concubines and noble concubines are mostly in their early to late twenties.

Some concubines are middle-aged. If my hunch was right, the same age as the emperor and empress.

They must be 43 years old by now if they're still alive. They held their hands together and bowed their heads.

"Greetings, great empress Wu Jinmai!" they all said, repeating it twice.

I raise my hand. "Raise your heads," I command.

"I hope everyone was here," I remarked. They look at each other.

"Do I have to count everyone?" I added.

Noble Consort Shi Yuyi steps up. "Your Highness, we are all present except consort Wang Hui. We will never defy your order. We will attend all the meetings you prepared whenever you summon us," she explains.
