As August made his way home, he checked his watch and noticed it was around 9:30 pm. The streets were sparely lit and a quiet settled over the city as most people headed home for the night.
Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks, patting his pockets with a growing realization—he'd left his house keys back at Digital Haven.
"Damn," he muttered under his breath, briefly considering if he could just get them in the morning.

Turning on his heel, he retraced his steps, heading back toward the cafe. When he arrived, he found the front door locked.
The "Closed" sign hung on display. He sighed, ready to head home without the keys, when he spotted a familiar figure at the edge of his vision.
