After tucking Layla in bed, Iva and Jacquelyn stepped out of the room together.
"I'll go to bed now," Iva announced, stifling a yawn. She turned to leave for her room, but she noticed Jacquelyn wasn't moving.
Jacquelyn pressed her lips, her eyes darting toward her own room. Was Kael up? Of course, he was! She scolded herself. Could she walk back casually inside the room and act like nothing had happened?
"You know you should have gone with him earlier," Iva interrupted. "Kael didn't look pleased."
Jacquelyn turned and nodded. "I know..." She groaned. "I was just scared. What if he asks about the child?"
Iva twitched her lips. "Well, since you're already running, I could do with company this night. What do you say?"
"Sure," Jacquelyn ran to stand beside Iva. Maybe if she could avoid Kael for the night and gather her thoughts, then they could talk properly.
