Kelly’s POV
I was driving home at exactly 6 PM when I saw someone familiar sitting in front of a convenience store. She’s drinking a canned beer and I don’t think she’s fine. From my point of view, she has a problem and I don’t have the heart to leave her like that because I treat her like my own sister.
I stopped the car in front of her and rolled the window.
“Phoebe.”
She lifted her face and I saw how sad her eyes were. My forehead creased and I immediately got out of the car. I walked towards her and sat on the empty chair across from her.
“Why are you here alone? Are you okay?”
She stared into my eyes. “Why did you marry my brother even when you know that he was not in love with you years ago?”
I was taken aback. I pressed my lips together as I stared at her face, unable to say anything. She has a problem and it involves her heart.
She laughed without humor and drank her beer. “I’m sorry. That was very sensitive of me.”
