However, the fire wasn't my fault. I sighed and asked quietly, "Dexter, why don't you let Ewan take her away? After all, she is Simmy's sister."
"She refused," Dexter replied, taking my hand and leading me away. As we walked, he explained that Carol had disagreed.
"This is Simmy and her home. She's guarding it and refuses to leave. No one can take her away. She'll go crazy," he explained in a low voice.
"But we can't allow her to engage in this type of business." I couldn't help but feel a tinge of cruelty.
"Each person has their own choice and way of surviving, and she has her own." Dexter couldn't wait to take me away, to keep me out of there.
"Ah! Help!" Suddenly, chaotic sounds emanated from the room next to Carol, followed by a woman's cry for help.
I was momentarily stunned and turned to Dexter. "Is there any danger? Shall we take a look?"
