Seeing his goddess, Rin, killed by his former friend, a flood of emotions surged from Uchiha Obito's heart, completely overwhelming him.
Rage, confusion, hatred, regret, disappointment, sadness… These emotions became fuel for his Sharingan, nurturing the growth of the Mangekyō, causing it to bloom and bear fruit.
"Ahhhh!!!"
Obito roared in anguish, collapsing to his knees, his entire body trembling uncontrollably.
The hope and excitement he had felt turned into pure hatred, but the one who killed Rin was his last remaining friend, Kakashi. This contradiction left Obito lost in a sea of despair.
A few seconds later, he fell silent, making not a single sound. His face was gradually covered by the swirling wooden structure of White Zetsu's body. Rising to his feet, he rushed toward Kakashi.
Even if he couldn't prevent Rin's death, he would at least take her body and give her a proper burial.
After the intense training he received from Uchiha Madara, Obito's strength had increased dramatically. With the power of Kamui and the White Zetsu-enhanced body that allowed him to use Wood Release, his power now exceeded that of an elite Jonin, bordering on Kage-level.
As he charged through the battlefield, Obito slaughtered the Mist ninjas with ease, cutting them down like they were nothing.
Moments later, covered in blood, Obito stood before Kakashi, glaring at him with bloodshot eyes, and staring at Rin's lifeless body at his feet. With a trembling voice, Obito growled through gritted teeth, "Why? Why did you kill Rin?"
Obito had held on to the hope that there had been some misunderstanding, but seeing Kakashi's indifferent expression toward Rin's body shattered that last bit of hope.
Kakashi clutched his now-transformed left eye, staring in confusion at the figure before him. For some reason, this person seemed familiar. It was as though this stranger knew him and Rin very well.
Who was he?
Kakashi could feel the name on the tip of his tongue, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't say it. This left him feeling deeply uncomfortable.
However, just as he was about to explain, he was interrupted by another barrage of attacks.
"Kakashi! I misjudged you! How could you do this to Rin? Why did you kill her? Why?!" Obito roared. Fueled by his growing rage, his attacks became faster and more violent. Kakashi, who used to have the upper hand in their sparring, found himself overwhelmed and outmatched.
Kakashi swung his kunai to block Obito's Wood Release attacks, trying to buy time, hoping for backup from Rin and Alex. He asked in confusion, "Who are you? Do we know each other? You're mistaken, that person isn't…"
He tried to explain, but Obito's attacks only intensified, cutting him off.
"Damn you, Kakashi! You don't even recognize me? I'm Uchiha Obito! No… that was the old me. Now, I am just a ghost, and I will create a world where Rin exists!"
Uchiha Madara's words echoed in Obito's mind. At first, he had rejected the Eye of the Moon Plan, but now, it seemed like the only way to bring Rin back.
Kakashi, weakened from using his newly awakened Mangekyō Sharingan, was no match for Obito's relentless onslaught. His chakra was nearly depleted, and he was being wounded by Obito's Wood Release attacks.
Despite the pain, Kakashi's attention was fixed on the mysterious man's words. A terrible premonition began to form in his mind.
"Obito? That's impossible. Obito has been in the Leaf Village with Rin, helping to divert the other Mist ninjas…"
Obito's attacks came to a sudden halt, and he stared at Kakashi in disbelief. He demanded, "What did you say? I've been recovering since I was crushed by the rocks. I only just got better. How could I have been with you?"
Kakashi fell silent, his sense of unease reaching its peak. At that moment, two figures arrived at his side, standing next to him.
Rin cautiously eyed the masked stranger before her, then immediately began using her medical ninjutsu to heal Kakashi's many injuries.
Meanwhile, Alex stepped forward, wearing Obito's signature goofy grin. He asked, "Kakashi, who is this guy? Is he an enemy?"
Seeing Rin, who was supposed to be dead, along with a second version of himself, Obito dropped the kunai in his hand. His mind went blank.
What was happening? Wasn't Rin dead?
Her body was right there on the ground.
And who was this person? Why did he look almost identical to his former self?
The moment Alex appeared, Obito recognized that face—the same one he had seen countless times in the mirror. It was the face that was supposed to belong to him!
Why?!
Who is this person?!
I am Uchiha Obito!
Obito's eye, visible through the swirling mask, grew more twisted. His Mangekyō Sharingan spun rapidly, and blood began to seep from his eye.
He no longer cared about hiding his identity or the Eye of the Moon Plan. He only wanted to understand what was happening right before him.
Obito ripped off the swirling mask, revealing his true face. He shouted at Kakashi and Rin, "Who is that? I am Uchiha Obito!"
Seeing the face of the masked man, both Kakashi and Rin froze in shock. Their gazes instantly shifted to Alex.
Seizing the moment, Alex put on his best acting performance. His expression turned serious as he said, "Heh, I thought the Mist ninjas were only using the Transformation Jutsu to disguise themselves as Rin, but I didn't expect them to copy me too! Who are you, really?"
Alex's explanation was so logical that Kakashi and Rin immediately turned their distrustful eyes back to Uchiha Obito. Suspicion and doubt filled their expressions.
That's right, this had to be a Mist Village plot!
Obito stood frozen, his face stiff as he stared blankly at his former comrades. He never expected them to doubt him so much, especially Rin, who stood hiding behind that imposter. It felt as if his heart was bleeding.
Desperate, Obito spoke up quickly, "We spent every day together. We had our own little secrets—things only the three of us knew. That proves I'm the real Obito!"
Obito then revealed one of those secrets that only he, Kakashi, and Rin knew. Kakashi and Rin's gazes shifted again, and they began to wonder if this really was the true Obito.
But Alex quickly responded, "You Mist ninjas really went all out. You even found out about our little secrets! But that doesn't prove anything. I know even more!"
Alex then began revealing numerous secrets that only Obito, Kakashi, and Rin knew. Each time Obito tried to interject, Alex would preemptively share the secret he was about to reveal.
Seeing the mysterious figure spew their shared secrets effortlessly, while Obito tried in vain to speak, both Rin and Kakashi reaffirmed their belief that the person beside them was the real Obito!
Kakashi gathered lightning into his hand, preparing to attack the mysterious figure before them. Whoever this was, they clearly had ill intentions. It would be best to join Obito and Rin in defeating him.
Just as Kakashi was about to attack, Obito, growing desperate, noticed Kakashi's left Sharingan. A thought suddenly occurred to him, and with renewed excitement, he shouted, "Kakashi, your left eye is mine! When I saw you kill the Mist ninja disguised as Rin, in my rage and despair, I awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan. Your eye changed at the same time! That's our bond, something that imposter could never replicate!"
Hearing this, Kakashi hesitated. After a moment of thought, he withdrew his Chidori, jumping back from Alex and calling out to Rin, "Rin, get away from him! That might not be the real Obito!"
As those doubts flooded Kakashi's mind, the past few days started to click into place. Obito's personality had drastically changed in just a few days, his aura and demeanor were completely different from before, and his strength had grown by an unimaginable amount.
How could that fool Obito have transformed so much in such a short time? Unless... this wasn't the real Obito!
Kakashi's thoughts raced back to the moment when Obito was buried under the rocks. Then, suddenly, he reappeared, wielding the legendary Susanoo, with his right side fully intact and both of his Sharingan eyes undamaged.
The more Kakashi thought, the more uneasy he became. Goosebumps spread across his skin as the realization hit him: the Obito standing next to them was an imposter!
The injured Obito, who shared a resonance with his left Sharingan, must be the real Obito!
Seeing that Kakashi finally believed him, Obito felt tears welling up. But when he saw that Rin hadn't moved away from Alex, his heart shattered, and he cried out, "Rin! What are you doing?! Get away from that imposter!"
Unlike Kakashi, Rin couldn't sense the connection between the two Sharingan. And in her heart, she admired Alex deeply. She had become mesmerized by him, molding herself into the image of the Obito she believed him to be.
Rin looked between Kakashi, the second Obito, and the one standing beside her, feeling confused. But she eventually said, "Kakashi, isn't this just a misunderstanding? Obito is Obito. How could he be anyone else? The real imposter is standing right in front of us!"
Rin had her suspicions, but she instinctively dismissed them. She had fallen for someone else, and now, she was a loyal admirer. But as they say, those who fawn over others tend to be irrational in love.
Rin tugged on Alex's sleeve, looking up at him with hopeful eyes, and asked, "Obito, you are the real Obito, aren't you?"
Suddenly, Rin froze in place. She noticed that the once-warm and gentle eyes of "Obito" had become cold and indifferent. It was an expression she wasn't familiar with.
Moments later, a hand brushed her hair, just like it had before, but now it filled her with dread. A cold voice, very different from what she was used to, echoed from Alex's throat. His appearance began to change, and in no time, he transformed into a white-haired, blue-eyed young man.
"Rin, I told you—admiration is the furthest thing from understanding."
The hopeful expression on Rin's face froze. She let go of Alex's sleeve and staggered back, almost falling. She barely managed to steady herself, her voice trembling as she asked, "What did you mean by that? You... You're not Obito!"
She started with a question, still clinging to a sliver of hope, but as she spoke, the truth became undeniable. She couldn't lie to herself any longer.
The man standing before her wasn't Obito. This was someone who had told her jokes, shared interesting stories, and captivated her heart. But it had all been a lie. He was an imposter, pretending to be Obito.
Overwhelmed by the shock, Rin's legs gave out, and she collapsed to the ground. Mud and rainwater clung to her clothes, leaving her looking utterly defeated.
Kakashi frowned. He didn't attack right away. Instead, he wanted to ask Alex a few questions. Despite the deception, Alex hadn't done anything to harm them during the time they'd spent together. On the contrary, he had contributed greatly to Konoha's efforts in the war and earned the title Black Reaper on the battlefield.
However, Obito wasn't thinking rationally. Having had his identity stolen and seeing Rin cry because of this imposter, he couldn't wait any longer. He charged at Alex with all his might, unleashing Wood Release, genjutsu, and taijutsu in a relentless assault, blocking off all avenues of escape.
"You dared to hurt Rin? I'll kill you!"
Without experiencing Rin's death firsthand, even with his enhanced strength, Obito was still just a naive child. He was full of anger but lacked the cunning and ruthlessness he would later develop.
Alex casually sidestepped Obito's attacks, effortlessly dodging the jutsu. To him, this wasn't even a real fight—it was child's play.
When he saw an opening, Alex threw a punch at Obito, but it phased right through him.
Obito grew more frustrated with each missed attack. Finally, seeing that Alex's attacks were also passing through him, his mood improved, and he began taunting Alex.
"Hahaha! You can't hit me! I can phase through your attacks, but you can't do the same with mine! I can miss as many times as I want, but you only need to slip up once for me to beat you. Die, you worthless imposter!"
Hearing Obito's cocky taunts, Alex decided it was time to give him a harsh lesson.
Kamui was undoubtedly a powerful ability in the Naruto world, one of the strongest space-time ninjutsu. It even played a critical role in the fight against Kaguya Ōtsutsuki. But to Alex, Kamui was insignificant.
With a simple flick of his finger, a spatial slash hit Obito's body. A massive wound appeared on his leg, nearly severing it.
"Ah!"
Uchiha Obito instinctively cried out in pain as he stared at Alex in disbelief. Ever since he had learned to use his Mangekyō Sharingan, Obito had thought of himself as invincible, with ten minutes of untouchable time that allowed him to dominate the ninja world. But to his shock, his first use of Kamui in a real battle ended in defeat.
"What did you do?" Obito asked, his voice trembling as White Zetsu, inside his body, worked to stop the bleeding and heal his wounds.
Alex turned slightly, casually blocking Kakashi's Chidori with his hand. The crackling lightning dissipated, effortlessly absorbed by Alex. Clutching his chest dramatically, he feigned hurt and said, "Kakashi, how could you be so heartless? We've been comrades for so many days!"
Kakashi's face showed brief hesitation, but he quickly regained his cold expression. "What's your goal? Why did you disguise yourself as Obito?"
Without missing a beat, Alex effortlessly parried Kakashi's continued attacks and kicked him away, laughing. "Because it's fun!"
Hearing this, Rin's world seemed to crumble. Her spirit broke, as if she had been toyed with like a mere puppet, her life force drained away.
Furious, Obito lunged at Alex again, shouting, "Damn you, imposter! Stop ignoring me!"
Thanks to White Zetsu's healing, Obito's injuries were stabilized, allowing him to continue fighting. But Alex simply waved his finger, and this time, the power of his spatial slash was far greater.
Obito's body was instantly bisected by an invisible blade, his torso severed at the waist. Blood and even his internal organs spilled out, splattering the ground.
Alex walked over to Obito's upper body, grabbing his hair and lifting his head to meet his fading eyes. With a smile, he calmly explained, "Your phasing ability only shifts your body into the Kamui dimension, leaving part of you in the real world. My spatial slash targeted your Kamui dimension body directly, which is why you're injured."
Then, with a cold smirk, he added, "You still have a lot to learn, you foolish Uchiha brat."
Obito, unable to speak, could only let out a low growl of fury as blood poured from his mouth, symbolizing the end of his tragic journey as a pawn.
Sensing movement, Alex casually waved his hand again, and Kakashi, who had been charging at him with Chidori, suddenly found his legs severed at the knees. His body, propelled by the remaining momentum, slid to a stop several meters behind Alex.
"Dammit!" Kakashi cursed through gritted teeth, refusing to scream in pain despite his now-useless legs. He pounded the ground in frustration, knowing that they had no hope of survival. Death was approaching fast.
At that moment, Alex turned toward Rin. He gently stroked her hair again, smiling warmly as he said, "Rin, I told you before—admiration is the furthest thing from understanding."
Just then, a weak sound of footsteps echoed toward them. Alex had already sensed the presence, knowing full well who it was.
Uchiha Madara, connected to numerous tubes linked to the Gedo Statue, walked slowly toward them. His face was solemn as he stared at Alex, his previous assumptions completely shattered.
He had initially believed this mysterious figure to be a member of the Uchiha clan. But now, as Alex revealed his true form, there was no resemblance whatsoever. Madara's gaze lingered on Alex's striking blue eyes, which filled him with an unsettling sense of unease. He even suspected, briefly, that these eyes might be stronger than the Rinnegan.
However, Madara quickly dismissed the absurd thought. In the entire ninja world, the Sage of the Six Paths was the pinnacle of power. What dojutsu could possibly surpass the Rinnegan?
Just as Madara was about to speak, Alex cut him off with a smirk. "Uchiha Madara, do you wish to dance as well?"
Hearing his name revealed so casually, Madara's expression darkened. He wasn't sure why, but Alex's words gave him a strange feeling, as though something that rightfully belonged to him had been stolen.
"Who are you? Why are you interfering with my plans?"
When Alex revealed his identity, Madara realized this mysterious man wasn't ignorant—he knew much more than expected. It was clear now that Alex's actions had been deliberately aimed at sabotaging his plans.
Before Alex could respond, Madara chuckled bitterly to himself. "Since when have I become so sentimental? No matter, it doesn't matter who you are. The moment I appear, your death is inevitable. My plan will proceed, regardless."
Madara no longer had the Rinnegan, having given it to Nagato long ago. However, his Sharingan was still powerful, and even a basic one-tomoe Sharingan could quickly evolve to the level of the Mangekyō Sharingan under the right circumstances.
With a swift hand sign, Madara's three-tomoe Sharingan spun rapidly, transforming into the Mangekyō Sharingan. He then unleashed a powerful fire technique: Fire Release: Majestic Destroyer Flame.
A massive fireball erupted from Madara's mouth, rapidly expanding into a terrifying inferno, growing to several dozen meters in size. Its sheer scale rivaled the combined efforts of dozens of ninja.
Kakashi struggled to move, but his severed legs left him powerless. He could only watch as the giant fireball descended upon them. Even at his peak, dodging such a powerful fire release would have been nearly impossible, let alone in his current state.
He glanced at Obito, whose body lay broken and barely alive. The white cells of Zetsu were keeping him alive, but just barely.
Then there was Rin, kneeling on the ground in shock, her expression hollow. Kakashi had noticed over the past few days that Rin had grown close to the fake Obito. Now, after seeing her real friend cut down and having her illusions shattered, she was in a state of emotional ruin.
But none of that mattered now. Kakashi turned his gaze back to the massive fireball. They were all going to die. There was nothing left to figure out.
Suddenly, to his surprise, the fake Obito—Alex—stepped in front of them, blocking the oncoming flames. With his usual playful tone, he said, "I was just having fun. I didn't plan on killing them, you know."
Then, turning to Madara, Alex asked, "Madara, do you know about the Rinnegan?"
Madara's eyes widened in shock as he saw Alex's once-blue eyes transform into Rinnegan—eyes with nine tomoe within them.
"I apologize," Alex continued, "I know you once possessed the Rinnegan, but yours were too basic. Above the Rinnegan with six tomoe, there is the Rinnegan with nine tomoe—the one I possess now."
With a smirk, Alex said, "Come, Uchiha Madara, let's dance. Make this fun for me!"
An overwhelming repulsive force erupted from Alex, radiating outward. In an instant, the colossal fireball was completely annihilated. The force continued, surging toward Madara with terrifying speed.
