Chương 96: Chp-96: Magneto Legion and the Sentinel Project

Konoha Camp.

Hyuga Satoru was deep in thought, considering how to utilize the gold he had just "acquired." Well, it wasn't really acquired; his good brother Rasa insisted on giving it to him.

I said, "Hey, your gold."

He said, "It's your gold."

I said, "It's yours."

He said, "Take it!"

I had no choice but to reluctantly accept it.

Satoru sighed, feeling a bit helpless. The gold Rasa had sent over had been refined using his electromagnetic powers, yielding a substantial amount of pure gold. This was perfect for laying the groundwork for his next plan.

He took a deep breath, his eyes becoming serious.

He had conceived an idea a long time ago: to combine nanometal with shadow clones to create a physical clone similar to Hashirama's wood clones, or in other words, an artificial life form.

The current Magneto Legion, which is made up of shadow clones, is already quite formidable, as demonstrated by Shukaku's miserable state. However, it had two fatal flaws: the feedback shock of the shadow clone and its fragility. Satoru had managed to mitigate the former by dispelling the clones in batches, thus also gaining some experience points. For the latter, he had melted down a large amount of metal armour, which, combined with the shadow clones' weakened electromagnetic abilities, provided a temporary solution.

Yet, it was still not as perfect as his envisioned Magneto Legion. In his plan, the Magneto Legion would serve as the main force when facing the Otsutsuki clan in the future, piloting star-destroying carriers and various Gundams to raid the Otsutsuki home planet. Without solving these two flaws, his concept would remain just that—a concept.

The solution seemed simple: modifying the shadow clones to be more like Hashirama's wood clones or akin to the Sentinel robots from the X-Men universe. In the X-Men world, to counter the mutant threat, Trask developed Sentinel robots capable of absorbing and evolving with mutant abilities. These powerful robots nearly wiped out the mutants, and it took sending Wolverine back in time to reverse this bleak future, stopping the Sentinels from being created.

The advanced nanorobots in that universe made Satoru envious. It was time for the Second Company Commander and the regiment leaders to evolve. With the gold sent by his good brother Rasa and the abundant nanometal he created, he had enough material for his experiments.

He started by selecting high-quality nanometals. Satoru could easily break down any metal, though the resulting quality varied. For combat, the difference wasn't significant, but creating a metallic life form required the finest materials. Each nanometal particle would act as a cell, necessitating the best resources.

Satoru's idea was straightforward: shadow clones split half of the chakra, creating a fragile clone similar to the original. If he replaced the clone material with nanometal and found a way to extend their duration indefinitely, wouldn't that effectively create a metallic life form?

There were many types of physical clones in the ninja world: lightning clones, water clones, earth clones... All are similar to shadow clones but equally fragile, except for wood clones. Wood clones were like a bug, able to fight Kakuzu from eighteen miles away and even daring to face Madara in the Fourth War. Only when Madara impaled them with his sword did they finally revert to wood. The resilience of wood clones was almost unscientific.

Satoru began to form seals while the silver magnetic fluid on his body started to flow. Like liquid silver, it split from his body and formed a writhing mass on the ground. This was the magnetic fluid he had extracted from the Executioner's Blade, the highest quality nanometal he had.

The writhing silver mass began to change. Satoru started sculpting it, creating a silver-haired, green-eyed girl with a voluptuous figure, all dark silver in colour and completely naked. Satoru was only responsible for creating the body; clothing wasn't part of his task.

"Walk a few steps, show me you're fine."

The android moved stiffly, devoid of life, even lacking physical feedback. It looked like a sophisticated metal puppet. Satoru frowned; this was far from his envisioned metallic life form. At best, it was an advanced metal puppet.

It's not a failure, but it's still fake.

The so-called movement was essentially his electromagnetic manipulation, lacking any basic biological consciousness. If this was all he could create, he might as well craft something like the Jaeger from Pacific Rim or Mechagodzilla—more exciting than this!

"What went wrong?" Satoru pondered.

Even in his previous life, creating a life form from nanometal was only seen in science fiction movies. Using the ninja world's unscientific physical clones, he aimed to experiment with bug-like methods. Nanometric electromagnetic abilities could achieve many things, but creating tiny people, especially pure metal ones, was truly challenging.

Next, Satoru tried using different nanometals, but each attempt failed. The resulting products were merely special puppets, lacking self-awareness and requiring his assistance for movement.

"It seems I was too hasty in trying to create a metallic life form this way," Satoru sighed, giving up the idea.

However, the multiple experiments gave him a key insight—puppets. These creations were similar to puppets, lacking biological activity. What puppet was a unique life form? Sasori, the strongest puppeteer who, turned himself into a puppet.

Satoru's eyes gleamed, sensing he was onto something.

...

Sand Ninja Camp.

The main force was retreating, the atmosphere heavy and sorrowful. In the main tent, there was a sense of desolation. Chiyo, looking at the ninjas silently packing up, sighed. A messenger had already delivered the ceasefire agreement to Konoha. The war reparations were yet to be determined, but Chiyo knew they wouldn't be light, especially since Shukaku was in Konoha's hands.

This would further burden the already impoverished Hidden Sand Village, but they had no choice. Chiyo glanced discreetly at the tent behind her. Rasa sat there, dazed, looking like a fool.

In times of crisis, having a leader could alleviate some of the pain, but Rasa was finished. Chiyo had spent three days verifying this after bringing him back from the battlefield. Unable to withstand the blow, the enemy completely countered Rasa's best ability, Magnet Release. Coupled with previous setbacks, his spirit was utterly shattered. Chiyo, with her experience, knew that in this state, Rasa would never achieve anything again, living out his days in despair.

The position of the Fourth Kazekage... perhaps...

Taking a deep breath, Chiyo finally made a decision, quietly summoning Pakura outside.

"From now on, you will be the new Fourth Kazekage."

"Really?"

Pakura's breath caught; the position she had always dreamed of suddenly before her, leaving her feeling unreal.

"Rasa is..."

Chiyo discreetly glanced at the dazed Rasa, shaking her head. In times of crisis, the burden had to be shifted. Rasa was beyond help. She was old, and the village needed new leadership. Among them, only Pakura had the ability. In the recent war, she had significantly contributed by holding off Minato Namikaze. Back in the village, they could hold a formal vote, officially making Pakura the Fourth Kazekage.

"Thank you, Chiyo-sama. I won't disappoint you!"

Pakura spoke with excitement.

Hearing their conversation in the tent, Rasa's fingers twitched slightly. Chiyo coldly glanced at him and then left. Alone in the tent, Rasa sat in the shadows. Tears fell from his eyes, his dry lips moving soundlessly.

In a hoarse whisper, like wind over sand, he murmured, "Why was I born Rasa if Satoru was to be born too..."
