Chương 10: 010, steadfastly protect her
"Zhouzhou!"
Song Zhen called out to her.
His voice was laced with a tension he hadn't even noticed.
With two quick steps, he rushed forward, turned her around to face him, leaned down to brush aside her hair, and removed her hand from her forehead.
"Get away from me!"
Gu Xinzhou had been hit hard and was in severe pain.
She could hardly open her eyes but still retorted angrily at him.
Song Zhen's lips were pressed tightly together, his dark and shiny pupils flickering with indiscernible emotions.
He stood still, forcefully removing her hand, fixing his gaze on her forehead.
The delicate white skin of the woman's forehead was reddened over a large area and appeared to be swelling.
But it seemed to be just a common bruise.
Gu Xinzhou glared at him irately, "Let go!"
But the next second, she froze.
She saw herself reflected as two tiny figures in Song Zhen's eyes.
In his eyes, there was nothing but her.
It was just like the dream she had had when she was a young girl.
Her nose tingled, and a bitter taste rose in her heart.
Gu Xinzhou's eyelashes were misted with moisture, and to hide the tears that were emerging, she blinked several times in quick succession, attempting to shatter these embarrassing and sentimental notions.
Yet her seemingly groundless actions, in Song Zhen's view, only exposed her even more.
"Rest well."
Song Zhen said softly and then suddenly let go of her.
He turned and walked elegantly towards the liquor cabinet.
Gu Xinzhou saw his handsome and upright figure from behind and remembered the name he had called in her ear as he tore after her while drunk.
Her brows furrowed tightly with anger, and she decisively opened the door and entered her room.
Bang!
The door closed!
There was also the sound of it being locked!
Song Zhen's hand reaching for the wine bottle suddenly stopped mid-air.
After a two-second pause, he regained his usual rationality and grace, took down the wine, and went downstairs as if nothing had happened.
Downstairs in the dining room.
Gu Yibo saw him coming and asked cheerfully, "Hahaha, Song Zhen, why have you only come down now?"
Song Zhen handed the wine to the butler to let it breathe and took a seat beside Gu Yibo with a humble and gentle tone, "Uncle Gu, I saw Zhouzhou squatting in front of the fridge eating something upstairs.
I chatted with her for a bit.
She seemed very tired.
She ate a little and then hurried back to her room to sleep."
"Is that so?" Gu Yibo immediately looked at Gu Xinfei, "Didn't you say Zhouzhou wasn't hungry?"
Gu Xinfei's face wore a light makeup.
She inherited her looks from her mother Zhuang Xiuya, and although she was above average in appearance, she was far from matching Gu Xinzhou's current brilliance.
She seemed quite adept at dealing with her father's confusion.

Song Zhen's lips carried a warm smile, "She has always been a bit of a klutz, very adorable.
And whenever I'm extremely tired, I feel the same way, I just don't have the appetite to sit down and have a proper meal, I'd rather eat something quickly and go to sleep.
Zhouzhou is being very real.
It's unexpected that after five years abroad, she still retains that childlike innocence."
