Chương 76: Finishing Business In Logria

'What did I do?!'

A perplexed expression was etched on Sy's face as he and the girls boarded Eran's hover bus. He was only trying to fulfill his words from the other day - yet somehow, Tiff's mood soured and it was particularly directed toward him.

Nonetheless, they had a good meal. A lively exchange ensued between Tiff and the girls. She was very impressed with the juveniles' opinions considering their age. While they talk, Sy was left watching on the sideline.

The four entered the vehicle. Eran gave Sy a contemplative glance and raised a brow, "Something wrong?"

"I don't know." Sy wore the same expression as he sat down behind the scion, glancing at the girls to make sure they were secured on their seats. He then turned his gaze back to the driver and concluded, "Maybe I did something wrong?"

Eran chuckled. "Pfft! Someone like you doing wrong? I bet a woman made it complicated that you started doubting yourself."

This time, it was Sy's turn to raise a brow. He suggested, "It seems you know more about them than I do. You should go and talk to Tiff... make some sense on her sudden shift of behavior."

"Goodness, no!" Eran immediately expressed his disagreement. "Don't you ever let me near that woman again!"

Dubious when it came to himself, Sy was well aware when others had some form of attraction between them. "You two would get along pretty well, I assume."

The scion shook his head in response as he expertly steered the hover bus. Pretty soon, they started leaving the parking area. The roads were busier this time of the day - people were in a haste to reach their nightly destinations.

They took a few stops across the airport. Eran carefully watched over the girls giving the other man some leeway to explore a few electronics shops.

After buying half a dozen of cheap data chips, Sy returned and gave the scion an appreciative nod. They were now going to head to Emma's second residence in the city.

The huge craters surrounding the Starport was the result of the AO Guild's design to cut off the city's main roads. Thankfully, Emma moved to an establishment within the vicinity of the Starport - safely tucked on its edge - far from the reaches of the devastation. They could still access the location using the vehicle without being hindered by damaged infrastructures.

Sy looked out to the window and noticed that the hover bus was cleaner than before. Out there, the city had finally received its last rays of sunlight, as discharge lamps were now flickering to life and illuminated the prospect. He pondered for a moment before asking the scion, "How's your sister?"

Eran was momentarily silent, a sigh escaped his mouth before he answered, "She misses her adopted children." Taking a quick glance at the three girls, he smiled as he reverted his attention back on the road, "I believe, she will definitely like your girls."

Sy awkwardly chuckled.

"Don't worry," Sensing the reluctance in the other man's demeanor, Eran assured, "my sister's mind is occupied by important matters. She won't legally assess the girls." The yellow haired man did not forget to add in the end with a whisper, "Women are easily distracted, you know?"

"How about you, Eran? Are you not curious about the girls?" Sy poked.

"Me?" Eran shrugged, "I'm just an easy going person. I don't really care about trivial things. If you don't want anyone asking things about the girls, so be it."

The hover bus took a sharp curve and entered the hub district of the airport. After a few more minutes taking some twists and turns, they reached a block of wealthy estates each sporting a wide expanse of lands with tall walls guarding their perimeters. This place was for the rich echelon of Logria.

They entered one of the spacious property before they encountered a massive gate. The scanner embedded on the wall beeped in affirmation after Eran swiped his information as the gates swung open. Then, they headed straight to the small silhouette of a distant villa.

Sy was intrigued with the lack of security personnel. He assumed that no one in the Union had the audacity to trespass the property of a member of a great house unless they were from enemy factions or hired delinquents employed by other hostile great houses.

The wide expanse of red earth caused Sy to flinch. If Logria had a better terraforming budget, he imagined that this particular area in the city of Patter would be teeming with patches of exotic green grasses instead of barren soil. Nonetheless, he saw some structures with controlled environments to grow a selected breed of plants just a few hundred meters away from the luxurious residence.

"I can't imagine Emma telling me to come live with her here." Sy murmured absentmindedly, staring at the hydroponics housings. The farming enclosure were lined up beside the road just as they neared the villa.

"She did?" Eran asked.

Both men gave each other strange looks.

"Well... we were not serious at that time, just bantering when she mentioned it." Sy explained.

"Oh!" Eran momentarily held the steering wheel with one hand as the other scratched his cheek. "I bet she was serious."

"Huh?" A confused look appeared on Sy's face.

"...my sister tends to hide her intention behind her jokes, you know." Eran hesitantly amended. "You take the joke or accept the offer. Either works for her."

Sy felt a chill run down his spine. "What?"

The yellow haired scion laughed nervously. "Uh.. don't let me explain any further."

The hover bus came to a stop within a large parking platform, its size big enough to accommodate a couple of small void shuttles. Though, it only contained a single seater hover car adding the hover bus in the meantime.

The girls were looking out the window with widened eyes when Sy called out to them. Given the signal, they impatiently exited the bus and rotated on their heels to glimpse at the expanse. All over the city, the demand for space cramped every corners - this was the first time they experienced an open ground with no structures erected. They could run and play freely in any direction without bumping into something solid.

Sy and Eran had a pleased look on their faces while observing the three.

"I think I'm going to buy something as spacious like this." Sy voiced his thought, a smile slowly growing on his face.

"That will cost you 150 million for the plot and another 300 million for the infrastructures."

A familiar, witty voice stated behind them.

An eagerness overwhelmed Sy as he turned around in anticipation. There, standing on the edge of the stone pathway leading to the villa, a woman stood with one hand on her waist, flanked on both side by lamp posts which illuminated her yellow hair in a bright golden glow.

She was stunning under the light that highlighted her luminous hair and unblemished skin. As a punchline, she added lastly with a teasing smile, "If you can't afford it, my offer still stands. You can come live with me."

A smile appeared on Sy's face. He turned to Eran by his side who seemed to be uncomfortable by the statement. "You see what I mean?"

Eran waved a hand and said in a dismissive voice before he chased after the girls who started running on the field, "It's between the two you. Don't involve me..."

Sy's brow rose up as he watched the other man hastily abandon the area. Looking after the girls was clearly a good excuse for Eran to leave him alone with Emma.

"Dinner will be ready in 15 minutes," Emma motioned for Sy to follow her, "let's talk business for the time being."

Sy pondered for a second. Another meal was something he would not refuse, and the girls would love to have a second round. With that he followed Emma toward the villa.

In under a minute, the two reached the manor and entered a double door made out of synthetic wood. Sy could see on the hallway that there were some furnitures and appliances still on the process of being unwrapped. The huge house was under renovation.

Emma guided Sy through the hall and into a room located on the far left. It was secured in someway, with sealed windows and reinforced walls.

The room was dimly lit with only a hover lamp above a large oblong table to which Emma motioned for Sy to seat on one of the chairs that surrounded it.

When Sy sat, Emma took the one on the opposite side that directly faced him. Resting both elbows on the glass surface of the table, she clasped her hands and stared at him with discerning eyes for a few seconds.

Feeling awkward by the silence, Sy asked in a curious voice, "So, what kind of business should I help you with, my lady?"

Emma smiled at his provocative tease. She then motioned to the center of the table as a hologram appeared. "Simple. You gotta show me how to achieve your design."

Sy's eyes widened as the schematics of the city of Patter appeared before them. However, it was not the typical layout of the city, but blueprints that he was far too familiar with. It was the new design that he gave to David which he architected himself in order to replace the half-assed implementation that the central government sent.
