Billy's plan was to infiltrate the cave and determine the number of enemies inside. They needed to capture one of the bandits to obtain crucial information. Fortunately, Desmod was skilled in interrogation. He waited patiently until one of the bandit henchmen strayed from the guard post to relieve himself. Swiftly, Desmod captured the bandit and conducted a brutal and ruthless interrogation.
The details of the interrogation were glossed over, given that Desmod's methods were harsh and merciless. Fortunately, Desmod used a silence spell to ensure the bandit's desperate cries went unheard.
After ten minutes, they obtained valuable information. The cave was relatively straightforward, consisting of only two main sections: the bandit leader's chamber and a storage room. The total number of enemies in the cave was twelve, including their leader, Raymod the Poison Dragon. The bandit also provided additional details about their leader's habits and some unresolved internal issues.
"We have the information we need. Oh, Desmod, what did you do before?" Billy asked, pinching the edge of his hat to obscure the unpleasant sight.
"Ah, I used to help my father sell meat!" Desmod replied with a nostalgic tone.
Hearing that, Billy's expression went flat, as if to say 'oh, I see.'
Now, they only needed to wait for nightfall to execute their plan. As night fell, they proceeded with their operation. First, Billy used his alchemical skills to create a device that could produce smoke without combustion. The sudden appearance of smoke made the guards outside the cave think it was morning fog, reminiscent of medieval times where fog and smoke were difficult to distinguish.
"You go left, and I'll go right," Billy whispered, expertly handling his karambit.
Billy was not hesitant to kill. He had been taught by Ash that not everyone in this world could be redeemed. Ash's realistic words had taught Billy to face reality without hesitation. Billy vividly recalled how he had killed a criminal who had raped a child under ten without feeling remorse. For him, what he killed were unredeemable sinners. Likewise, Ash had taught Aurelia and Zephyr to face life's harsh truths with decisive decisions.
Returning to the current situation, Billy and Desmod, with utmost caution, snuck up behind the bandit henchmen and slit their throats silently. Nine bandits remained in the cave, resting. Using a special sound-dampening device, the two moved through the cave quietly.
The perfect opportunity came when the bandits were in a deep sleep. Desmod, with his deadly killing skills, ruthlessly slit the throats of each enemy one by one in the darkness of the cave. At the same time, Billy stealthily made his way to the bandit leader's chamber with a burning determination. He knew Raymod the Poison Dragon was his primary target.
Upon reaching the door of the leader's chamber on the right, Billy could hear voices from within. Raymod's voice was gruff and full of satisfaction, while Billy carefully positioned himself. Raymod was speaking with someone—a short woman nearly naked, covered only by a piece of cloth. The woman's hair was a striking sea blue, and her eyes matched her hair. Her expression, appearing numb and resigned, ignited a deep anger in Billy.
Raymod, seemingly intoxicated by his power, sneered, "Kekeke~ Even though you are just the bastard child of the Dragon King, a child of the king's whore. Heh, but your face is quite attractive, as expected of the royal family. Even though you're the lowest caste in the palace, you're still valuable, Princess Benedict."
Billy, peeking in, saw that the woman seemed to be around his age. Seeing her sweet face, Billy felt a surge of anger. Her vacant expression—as if surrendering to life without any struggle—disgusted Billy. To him, such an expression indicated an unacceptable weakness, as though someone had given up without a fight.
When Raymod continued, "As usual, you're just like your mother, known as a puppet. It turns out the child is the same, just a soulless doll. Haah, having intercourse with such a doll is no fun," he arrogantly began to disrobe.
As Raymod spoke about her mother with a sneer, Benedict's eyes suddenly flashed with a fiery rage. The intensity of her emotions was evident even from Billy's hiding spot. In the tension of the moment, Billy moved slightly, accidentally kicking a small pebble. The pebble rolled with a speed that seemed destined to attract attention.
"Who's there!?" Raymod thundered, his voice booming like thunder splitting the night sky. His voice shook the cave walls and made the air heavy with menace. Raymod, a former knight with Saint Rank, had a sharp fighting instinct and extraordinary sensitivity. His body trembled with power and precision, as if every movement and every second were imbued with lethal potential.
Billy, hidden in the shadows, felt the tension coil around him. Though the bandit leader controlled a small territory, he was a Saint-ranked swordsman and a former Dragon Kingdom knight. Facing Raymod directly seemed like a journey towards death, logically speaking. Yet, despite the creeping fear, Billy did not let panic overtake him.
With his heart pounding, Billy reached for his pistols, Castor and Pollux, hanging at his waist. The silver and gold weapons, with their gleaming design, were ready for action.
