Chương 4: Run To Survive
"How will we find the castle in this jungle?" Kelly asked while trying to avoid a spider.
"According to the map in the letter it is at the center of the island. We just need to move forward without deviating. But don't you guys find it strange that there are no animals in here?"
"Be careful of what you ask for William. The last thing I want after being shoved through a portal would be chased by a wild beast. You always think weird."
"That's not Jack. It's a magic island and obviously there should be some magic creatures too. It's not cause I want it ,it's just too stange. Don't you guys...."
ROAR
"...think so?". Everybody became silent and they heard Will gulping.
"I think your wish came true."
"But guys,the sound was pretty loud. It means either the animal is too loud or the worst , it is too near."
"Wait. Did you hear that?"
"What?"
"I am sure I heard something moving."
"Where? We didn't heard anything."
"There. Right over there." Gladys pointed to their left.
Through the dim light peeping from the canopy they saw an eye staring right at them. It sent a shiver through their spine. In that silence they could here it breathing heavily.
"Guys? There's only one way. RUN! RUN! RUN!"
"Which way?"
"To the front. We should get to the castle."
The beast jumped in front of them.
It was a huge one covered with black fur. It had only three limbs and one eye. It opened it's huge mouth and roared ferociously . It's mouth was filled with sharp teeth and it's tongue protruded out like a whip.
"TURN."
"What about the castle?"
"Forget about the castle now. As long as we don't deviate from the path we can come back."Gladys was making a point. Though they didn't knew what to do they kept running cause that was the only way to survive.
"I don't think I can take this anymore. Guys I am out of breath"said Kelly panting.
"We should split."
"But Will... How will we find each other?"
"There's no other option.You and Kelly should go together and take this map with you. Let's meet at the entrance to the castle. I will go with Gladys. I know the map."
Gladys threw the map to Jack. Jack caught the map , grabbed Kelly's hand and turned right.
"Take care of my sister", Will shouted and they turned left. The beast followed them.
"What's the plan? Attack or defense?"
"Defensive attack." William replied. "The beast has got only one eye. That's it's weak spot. If we manage to strike him there, we will be able to buy some time."
"Whatever it is I suggest we should do it fast."
Will looked around.
"I have got an idea. Let us split for now and make it run towards that tall tree over there. The one who is being chased should take a long route and reach there. Meanwhile..."
"The other will climb the tree and wait to strike it in it's eye." Gladys completed his sentence.
Meanwhile Kelly and Jacob were still running holding their hands.
"I can't....I..... can't run....Jack....I.... am tired..."
"Hang in there Kelly. Just a bit longer till it loses our trail."
"But the thing already lost our trail."
"Huh? It wasn't behind us? Then why were we running?"
"Don't you think I should be the one to ask. Since it is gone don't you think you should let go of my hand."
"Oh, sorry." Jack gave an awkward smile. "No matter how close we are this girl really knows how to make me awkward. Are we really in a relationship ?"
" What are you doing? Check the map and let's head to the castle."
"But what about Will and Gladys?"
"They told us that they will meet us there. So let's get going. But... eh.... where are we now?"
"Good question. Mmm....Yeah. I found it.... Don't panic but we are lost."
"WHAT?"
"Relax , there is a way. Though we don't know where we are now, we need to find this one tall tree and the map says that the castle is where it's shadow falls."
"Too easy to say. Then tell me dear WHERE THE HECK IS THIS TALL TREE? THERE...OR THERE? OR IS IT OVER THERE? "
"Yes it is over there." Jack pointed out sill not believing he found it." It is a one tall tree. Don't you think so too?"
"Yes indeed. I can't find you believe it."
"What?"
"I mean I can't believe you found it. Oh you are such a gem . Love you Jack." She hugged him and kissed his cheek.
Jacob's eyes shone bright " She is more surprising than the tree. I am a gem because you are with me Kelly. Is it okay for me to think like this in this situation? Who cares anyway? Love you too Kelly. "
