Chương 9: Chapter 9 - The Three Noble Siblings

When the old man Derum arrived at the capital, he immediately went to the palace. However, the guards outside the palace were strictly on watch, and they quickly stopped him.

"Apologies, but you cannot enter the palace without an invitation from King Amon." said one guard, pointing their swords at Derum.

"But I have an important message for the esteemed King. I need to have a meeting with him, so please let me in." pleaded the old man.

"Leave now if you don't want to get hurt, old man." threatened one of the guards.

The old man had no choice; such were the rules of the palace. An ordinary citizen of Aruha could not simply see the King. Only the nobility, aristocrats, and Royal Family could meet and see the King without the need for an invitation or prior notice.

Derum looked at the tall and towering walls of the palace. He felt a sadness because this palace could be invaded by enemies, and the peaceful life of the Aruhas might end in a tragic way.

If the Ronoru's grim and evil plans to rule the human world could not be stopped, it was also likely that the Ronoru kings would want to conquer the eastern part of the dream world, the territory of King Amon.

Thus, he thought he could not give up. He needed to find a way to speak with the King. The old man left and went to the capital, the center of the east. His stomach growled, so he decided to have lunch first.

While eating, he heard various conversations and gossip about the Ronoru killing Aruhas who were lost in the southern territory of the Ronoru. There was also widespread gossip that some Ronoru were attacking the far eastern boundary, where the border of the east and south met.

They mercilessly killed any Aruha they saw at the boundary of the east and south. The Ronoru were truly greedy, and their king was the same, which is why all Ronoru citizens had wickedness in their hearts.

"Many have also fled from near the eastern border because some Ronoru can easily enter there since it is only separated by a wall." said one Aruha, his voice filled with fear and panic.

"The King must do something; we cannot let this problem continue in our land." said another Aruha.

Derum felt a stronger urge to speak with the King. The Ronoru were becoming a menace in their land, and this was not the main problem. The greater issue was if the Ronoru succeeded in opening the gateway to the human world.

The Aruhas and humans would surely face a tragic end.

After eating, Derum decided to write a letter to the King. This was the only way he could think of to reach the King. The letter contained his strong desire to meet with the King and information about the prophesied human who could either open the gateway to the human world or stop King Merif of the Ronoru's evil plans.

He also included his dire visions in the letter, hoping it would prompt the King to work with him to prevent the looming disaster he foresaw.

When Derum finished writing his message, he returned to the palace.

"You again, old man. I'm sorry, but no matter what you do, you really can't enter and you will never meet the King." said the guard.

"I understand, but could you please deliver this letter to the King? This message contains crucial information. The entire eastern land and the dream world, as well as its citizens, depend on it. So, I implore you to give my letter to King Amon." pleaded the old man.

The guards frowned and stared at Derum, scrutinizing him and his words.

Derum continued to hold out his message, but the guards just stared at him.

"That old man is surely crazy." said one guard.

"He might indeed be out of his mind, perhaps feeling intense fear because of the Ronoru attacks at the eastern border, and he's gone mad with fright." another guard opined.

"You better go home and rest at the temple. You're wasting our time." said one guard, shooing him away.

"Yes, I'll leave, but I hope you believe what I'm saying. Take this letter and deliver it to the King, please." Derum pleaded.

The guards whispered among themselves, discussing what to do. Whether they would accept the letter for the King or not.

After their discussion, they looked at the old man who still held out his letter. Then, Derum knelt down, setting aside his dignity and pride, humbling himself completely for the safety of all and to maintain peace.

"This letter is more important than my dignity and life, so may it reach the King." said the old man.

The guards seemed to feel pity for him. They helped him stand up and took the letter from him.

"We will deliver this to the King. But with the number of letters the King receives daily, it is unlikely he will read this one immediately." said one guard.

"If possible, prioritize this letter so the King can read it immediately. It is more important than any other letter he might receive." said Derum.

"You're too demanding, old man. It's better if you go home now, and we will take care of this." said the guard, and they led Derum away.

Derum had no choice but to hope the King would read his letter soon. He returned to the temple and prayed earnestly, performing rituals for peace and safety, and asked the gods that the King would read his letter as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, that day at the palace, three siblings from a noble family were visiting. They were friends with Princess Hasi, King Amon's daughter.

They were currently in the Archery Field of the palace, bonding as they usually did when the siblings visited the Princess. Due to Princess Hasi's expertise in archery, she taught her friends, the siblings Hilda, Estifon, and Rufino, well.

The Princess was delighted whenever the siblings visited because she often felt bored inside the palace and eagerly awaited her friends' visits.

Estifon, the eldest brother, mentioned that the previous day they had found an Aruha with apparent powers unconscious in the forest, seemingly after a fight.

"When I checked his pulse, he was still alive," said Hilda, who had examined Qrolo's pulse when he lost consciousness after being injured in a battle with a Ronoru who wanted to kill Yana.

"I teleported to where the person being chased by the Ronoru was and helped her return to their world through the Mirror of Light." added Rufino.

Rufino's Mirror of Light power could only be used to return people stranded in the dream world to their world, waking them up in the human world. It couldn't be used by Aruhas or Ronoru to enter the human world, only to save people in danger in the dream world.

"I think more people are getting stranded in the dream world." said the Princess.

"I think so too. It's very concerning because the Ronoru have no mercy in killing any human they find in this world." said Estifon.

"What happened to the Aruha who was unconscious in the forest? You said he seemed to have powers." asked Princess Hasi.

"We called a healer to treat his wound and then left, so we don't know if he survived." said Rufino.

After their archery practice, the noble siblings decided to leave as they had important matters to attend to.

Princess Hasi escorted them to the courtyard near the gate entrance and returned to her room because she couldn't leave the palace without her father's permission, King Amon.

As the siblings approached the palace front gate, they overheard the conversation between the guards and old man Derum.

They heard that the old man had an important message for the King, so they listened carefully. It seemed serious and true, but the guards did not believe the old man. They saw the guards dragging the poor old man away.

"Later, the messenger will come down for the King. We'll give the letter, but it's unlikely the King will read it immediately. The letters from ordinary Aruhas are set aside, and the King rarely opens letters from ordinary Aruhas." said one guard.

"Poor old man." said another.

The siblings decided to help the old man. They had heard that the peace of the entire eastern land and the safety of the Aruha citizens depended on that letter.

So, the noble siblings approached the guards. When the guards saw them, they immediately bowed in respect.

"Where is the old man's letter?" asked Hilda.

"Here." replied one guard.

"Give me the letter, and we will deliver it to the King." said Hilda.

The guards were shocked, their eyes widen at what the noble sibling had said.

A trembling guard handed the old man's letter to Hilda.

"Here it is, noble one." the guard said nervously.

Hilda quickly took it.

"Tomorrow, Estifon, return to the palace and ensure the King reads the old man's letter." Hilda ordered her brother.

"Why won't you both come with me tomorrow?" Estifon asked.

"I have training to strengthen my powers tomorrow, so I can't come." said Rufino.

"I also have important matters to attend to tomorrow, so Estifon, I assign you to return here tomorrow and make sure the King reads the letter." said Hilda.

Estifon had no choice but to agree to deliver the old man's letter to the King tomorrow.
