Chương 2: Chapter 2: The Oracle Coven

Leylin's POV

"Mother, I want to learn the same magic as you," I said, referring to her Coven.

The Boiling Isles have a magic categorization system, or Coven, which represents the magical path a witch or demon undertakes.

"You have good taste, son, but I thought you wanted to learn your father's as well," Odalia said, frowning slightly.

"I understand, but I want to learn both first to better compare and decide on my single Coven," I said, smiling at her.

It's been a few weeks since I've been begging my parents to teach me their Covens, but they want me to choose only one.

"Alright, but once you're an adult, you'll have to choose one," she finally gave in after days of insistence.

"Yes, I adore you," I said, jumping into her arms.

I love my parents deeply in this life. At first, I was uncomfortable considering them my new parents, especially my mother because of what I knew about her future and her habit of wanting to keep everything under control.

That's why I'm closer to my father, but my mother's magic is too awesome for me to abandon.

In truth, if I had to learn only one magic, I would only learn my mother's, but I have greater ambitions.

"So, whose magic do you want to start learning first?" asked my father, who was standing nearby.

It seemed he was reading something.

"I'll start with mother's, of course," I said, laughing.

Although father's magic is really great, to facilitate my future plans, I need mother's magic.

The magic of the Oracle Coven, or simply my mother's, focuses on divination, spirits, and various conjuration-based magics.

Witches who practice the Oracle Coven can use their magic to predict the future, look into distant places, and use their crystal balls for various purposes.

To cite a few examples, I could do telepathic communication, launch a dark purple fire blast, sink into a moving shadow on the ground, summon spiritual entities of fire or shadow, or create large psychic energy constructs like a giant hand or a giant energy dome.

In summary, this magic is versatile like my father's, but what interests me about it is its aspect dealing with the mind and mental.

I want to see if I can do Legilimency and Occlumency with it.

If I succeed, I could learn extremely quickly in this universe and master several types of magic at a high enough level to survive the dangerous events to come or take advantage of them.

In short, I covet the "psychic" abilities of this magic, and if I can see the future or sense things around me, that will be a bonus.

I'm not saying no to free Observation Haki, and moreover, the energy construction aspect of this magic is really practical.

"Father, I listened and I want to learn more about Covens too," Amity declared as she entered the room.

"You two are really troublesome sometimes," Odalia sighed in a tired tone.

I really love these kinds of family moments, it's a shame they can't last forever.

My mother's greed and her ambitions will destroy this family.

"Yes, that's it, you must feel the magic in your magical organ next to your heart," mother said, guiding me.

"Now, trace the magic circle and concentrate to move this glass of water without breaking it," she said calmly.

I raised my finger and traced a magic circle, concentrating my intention on it and my magical organ. I imagine a hand appearing and gently carrying the glass of water towards mother.

"Well done, you really have a gift for this magic," she said, rubbing my head.

It's been a few days since I asked my parents to teach me their magic.

Through practice, I've been able to discover certain things not specified in the books, such as the magical compatibility of witches or the difficulty of using magic without tracing a magic circle.

"Today, besides mental energy manipulation, I'm going to teach you how to use a crystal ball for various purposes," she said, smiling.

"I'd rather learn how to know if someone is lying to me or not," I said, pouting to try to make her give in.

"No, no, that's not a good spell to know at your age," she said, frowning.

It seems she won't give in, yet it would have greatly facilitated my plans.

I'll just have to be content with telepathy and communication today.

"Hey, bro," Amity declared as she returned from her walk outside.

Unlike me who was introverted, Amity loves to socialize and she had plenty of friends.

It seems mother hasn't started interfering in her personal relationships yet. I'd better encourage her to enjoy this short moment of happiness.

Or maybe I should pick up Willow after Amity has thrown her away?

"What are you doing?" she said, leaning next to me.

"Nothing you'd like to do right now, haha," I said, laughing as I lifted my book.

"Always with your nose in a book," she said, settling next to me.

"Why do you like reading so much? It's tiring," she said, sighing. She must be remembering mother imposing on us to study a certain number of things per month.

She really wants her children to be among the elite, but she puts too much pressure. For me, it's still okay since I'm mentally an adult, but Amity and the others...

"I don't like reading, but I love magic," I said, tracing a circle in the air. Energy hands appeared to tidy up my things.

"It's fun," I said honestly.

"Yes, indeed, magic is fun," she replied, smiling.

We had a long conversation between brother and sister that day, and frankly, I noticed that I didn't know enough about Amity's social evolution.

"Yes, you should have seen their faces in front of my abomination, haha," she said, laughing.

"I don't know if father would appreciate this use of his magic, haha," I said, laughing.

"On your side, what can you do with mother's magic besides these weird hands?" she said, curious.

"Hmm... okay, you'll be a perfect subject for this," I said, rummaging through my backpack, while Amity gave me a strange look.

"Put this on," I said to her. It was a small crystal ball that she could attach to her ear.

"What can it do?" she asked, curious.

"It's simple, we're going to merge," I said, attaching the other one to my ear.

Author's Note: I've been thinking about this story and I find it would be a waste to use it only to train and see what my writing level is.

I feel that this protagonist has more potential than Dipper, despite not having gained any advantages.

PS: I won't make him a racist anymore, but he'll just be uncomfortable with Luz because of his experience in chapter 1.
