Hunter sat at the edge of Delilah's bed, staring blankly at his phone. It had been hours since Delilah vanished, and every attempt to reach her ended in silence.
Jessica had called back to say Delilah didn't respond to her call either. His mind buzzed with countless possibilities, none of them comforting. The knot of worry in his chest tightened with every passing minute.
"Where could she be?" he muttered to himself, running a hand through his hair. He was on the verge of dialing a private investigator when his phone buzzed. The sudden vibration sent a jolt through him, and his heart raced as he grabbed the phone.
A message.
It was from Delilah.
[I'm fine. Please don't worry about me. I just need some space for a couple of days. I'll be back soon.]
