Hunter's thoughts were a storm of worry as he drove over to Damon's hospital. He knew he could have easily called to talk to Damon over the phone, but this wasn't a conversation he wanted to have over the phone.

As he drove he couldn't shake the image of his grandmother's trembling lips and tear-filled eyes from their conversation.

His grandmother was a formidable woman and not once in all his years growing up had he seen her look so vulnerable. Not even when she lost her only son and daughter-in-law.

Madam Quinn was someone who he believed had mastered the art of hiding her emotions, yet she had looked so vulnerable earlier like she was terrified.

He didn't like that image of her one bit, and her diagnosis hung over him like a dark cloud, threatening to pour at any moment.

He didn't like the thought that he wouldn't have her by his side to keep guiding him. No matter how annoying and meddlesome she often was, she was all they had.
