Ybur's gaze was nearly instantaneously captured by the vortex.
When something reaches a certain immensity, it begins to blur the concept of its true size. Ybur couldn't tell whether the diameter of the vortex measured in the hundreds or thousands of kilometers, only that it seemed vast enough to swallow a mountain whole. The vortex churned with violent energy, shredding the seawater into countless droplets before recombining them into rolling, leaping arcs that burst into streaks of white foam.
And from deep within that vortex, the escaping light...
Ybur began to have the illusion of his heart pounding fiercely.
The light, like invisible hands, seemed to almost grasp him. A strong desire and impulse surged from within him, causing his body to shake uncontrollably, as if about to throw itself into the vortex.
But as soon as Ybur moved, Mixius laid a calming hand on him, "Stay calm, you're being affected."
