"Hmm, Neko-chan, don't play with the orb and please—NO! Don't eat that!" Sora was too late as the cat gulped down the orb.
The black cat ate the orb.
She was now glowing.
"Whoa, she's glowing like how a sweet potato turns red when you use a Fire Jutsu to heat it," Choji said.
The other three actually took their gaze away from the cat and looked at him incredulously.
Their only escape route was possibly taken away, and this guy was comparing the situation to a sweet potato glowing red?
First of all, who the hell uses Fire Jutsu to heat a sweet potato?
As expected of the Akimichi Clan heir.
Second of all, do you have any situational awareness or the ability to read the room?
There was even a subject called Situational Awareness in the academy.
Shikamaru was now regretting bunking classes with Kiba, Naruto, and Choji.
If only he had chosen to sleep in class instead of outside...
Choji might have learned that situational awareness skill.
Common sense really was not common in this ninja world.
Shikamaru could see the reality.
He didn't want to wake up to this reality.
Alas, he wasn't sleeping in this case.
Shikamaru's internal dilemma was disrupted by a blinding light coming from where the orb was.
It prompted everyone to look at where the cat was after the light subsided.
"Hmm, where is the cat?" Ino nervously asked.
She didn't get any answer.
She didn't have to wait for one.
The dimension was changing again from their frame of reference.
"The wavelengths have changed again. I guess we have to maybe find another civilization that has reached this level of advancement to escape," Sora joked to lighten the mood.
This statement only worsened everyone's mood.
"Hmm, is that the Yamanaka Clan?" Choji's words made everyone look at the sound.
They were standing on a hill.
A blonde lady, whose beauty could easily surpass Tsunade's, was standing on a branch of a tree, with her hands in a familiar seal to the squad.
Her presence itself demanded attention from the world.
The confidence she exuded only made it more prominent.
"Damn, Onee-san really looks beautiful," Sora commented. He had never seen anyone this beautiful.
No one rebuked his statement.
He wasn't wrong.
In fact, both Choji and Shikamaru had a blush on their faces.
Heck, even Ino had a blush on her face.
In the next instant, a group of black-haired, muscular people arrived at that spot.
They were led by a white-haired man who had a lean build, unlike the others.
What happened next was only followed by Sora and Ino.
The beautiful lady's body seemed to be falling from the branch toward the ground.
The white-haired man who was leading the group suddenly had bones protruding from his body.
He released bones from all over his body.
Each bone found its spot either in the neck or in the heart.
This happened in around 1.5 seconds.
One bone, which flew exactly perpendicular to the ground from the white-haired guy's body initially, found itself in the head of the white-haired guy after a second.
The beautiful lady, who seemed to be falling toward the ground headfirst, had now landed on her legs with elegance, just as the white-haired guy got killed by his own bone.
The blonde-haired lady made a hand sign, and in the next instant, she was above the fallen group, putting their dead bodies in a scroll, and then making another hand seal before flickering away.
Sora, however, was the only one able to sense her flickering, so he created a shadow clone, who weaved some hand signs and used a Shape-Shifting Jutsu along with Body Flicker, chasing after the blonde lady.
"What exactly happened?" Choji was confused. He had just seen the beautiful nee-san falling toward the ground, and by the time she landed elegantly, the other party's leader seemed to have decided to kill the other members of the group and then commit suicide.
"Did he notice the beautiful nee-san and decide that they were not worthy enough to witness her beauty, so he decided to kill his comrades and then kill himself because he thought he was not worthy enough?" Choji continued.
Shikamaru, who had opened his mouth to say something, just paused. His mouth was open, and he was looking at Choji.
Shikamaru was rendered speechless.
Sora, who had started weaving hand signs, paused midway, his eyes widening. Sora.exe had stopped working.
Even Ino didn't have anything to say about Choji's conclusion. This type of conclusion was supposed to come out of Sora's mouth, not Choji's.
"Hmm, that nee-san seems to have used Mind Transfer, which caused her body to go limp and fall toward the ground. Just as this happened, she took control of the white-haired guy, who seems to be from the Kaguya Clan, which is now currently extinct, and killed everyone in the group, and then killed that guy too, just before going back into her body. She was able to do that in less than 3 seconds, and then had the time to go back into her body and land elegantly." Shikamaru couldn't believe what he was saying.
He personally thought that Choji's explanation sounded more plausible.
"Hmm, yeah, I think that's what happened, as I felt her using that Jutsu," Ino awkwardly added.
Sora weaved hand signs and formed five earth clones, each going in a different direction.
"Yeah, that nee-chan was so cool. Everything about her was reeking of coolness," Sora added his own impressions.
Everyone unanimously nodded.
"I didn't know that a Yamanaka could be this cool," 'and this beautiful,' Shikamaru said.
"Hey! Take that back, Yamanakas can be cool," Ino felt like she had to defend her clan.
"Well, it is rare, I guess. She was at least a Jounin, if not an Elite Jounin. My instincts are telling me not to fight her," Sora said and shivered.
He hadn't felt this way since he fought the Fourth Kazekage.
Heck, the latter didn't give off this type of vibe.
It was Orochimaru who gave that kind of vibe on that battlefield.
"Anyway, it's not like we have to fight her. She can't perceive us, so chill," Sora said.
Shikamaru was deep in thought.
"Guys, I think our home is actually a dimension in this reality. No, that's the wrong explanation. It's more like a point in this vast timeline, which seems to be too erratic. That man in the hologram might be talking about some other higher world. I don't see any other explanation for a Yamanaka Clan and Kaguya Clan to be at this point, so we might be seeing the past or future currently. That futuristic city might have been in the past or the future. Civilizations could be lost without their history being recorded." Shikamaru dropped a bomb that none of the people present were expecting.
"Hmm, does it matter? We just need to go back home. You're thinking too much and increasing the panic level," Sora tried to calm the other two before they had some kind of existential crisis about their whole world being fabricated by some other being.
Ino and Choji's heartbeats quickened.
"Guys, breathe, calm down," Shikamaru quickly said.
This was not within his calculations.
He didn't think that his words would give the other two an existential crisis.
He would rather keep his mouth shut moving forward if people were going to possibly have a heart attack.
Soon, Choji and Ino were somehow calmed down.
If they hadn't, Sora would have knocked them out.
"Does anybody have water?"
Sora quickly gave Ino a water bottle.
He also gave one to Choji, who drank it all in one gulp... somehow.
'We will be running out of food and water soon. We'll have to preserve the water,' Shikamaru didn't say this at the moment as it might make the other two feel guilty or not drink water, which would put them in a non-ideal state, leading them to become a burden and fall into another depreciating cycle.
"Do you guys want to move from this place? My earth clones didn't have anything happen to them," Sora suggested.
"No, we are technically in a different plane whose laws we don't know. It's too risky. If they can move, they would be helpful for bringing back intel; otherwise, it doesn't matter," Shikamaru laid out an ultimatum.
---
A/n: Hehe, is Sora's world the higher dimension that the man from the futuristic city mentioned? Or is his world part of this world only at some point in time? If yes, then what is the higher dimension? Or... is there something else happening altogether?
Anyway, from this chapter moving forward, I will be writing chapters manually myself, as that seems to be more efficient for me. You might feel the chapter quality increasing, so do tell me how you like the narrator's style.
