For a moment, no one could speak after Fang Lin made his request. The young lord had boasted of the beauty he was supposed to meet tonight and he'd even shown off the painting to most of them. A few of them had been curious about the artist responsible for the painting but none of them suspected that Su Yao had allowed a man to paint her in such a fashion!

"Is that true? She let a man paint her portrait?" Yu Jinqi, the second of Fang Lin's guests said in shock. The slightly built young man was unique in the gathering in that he'd chosen to wear the pale green and white robes of his sect, as though he couldn't bear for people to remain ignorant of his status as an Alchemy Initiate at one of Silver Sword City's leading alchemy sects. "The women at the Jade Cauldron Sect would never allow a man to stare at them long enough to paint a portrait. Is this fellow a eunuch or something?"
