Chương 20: The Norden Front-1
Three days had passed since Tanya left.
Felix can't focus on his stuff. He is often found sitting inside his office, drinking apple tea to calm his nerves, but this time… He can't just calm down.
During work, his staff often caught Felix lacking. His attention is elsewhere. He also makes mistakes which he does not normally make.
One example of this is when he went into the jet engine's testing site. He mistakenly almost walked into the afterburner of the engine, luckily he was pulled back rapidly by his escort, Carl.
Another instance is when Felix was firing his gun. Although his eyes were not activated, he still should have no problem hitting the target… Instead, his aim was literally off, like literally off the target.
Another instance where he was caught lacking is during Felix's dinner with his family. Almost all of the time, Felix is the person who finishes his dinner first in order to go back to his projects, however, these past few days, his attention was elsewhere.
His family and his staff were now worried about him..Almost all of the time, Felix's composure is as solid as a rock. However, these past few days, he can't even put his full attention into a single conversation he had.
Naturally, his parents were concerned, so they asked Felix about what is worrying him these days, during their dinner.
"Son, what is on your mind?"
Hearing his parents ask him, he turned his attention towards them.
"Umm, it's nothing… I just had a bad day.."
"We know it is not a bad day, son… tell us, you can talk to us if you want."
Felix looked around the room and saw that his whole family was worried about him. His older brother has concern painted in his face. His two younger sisters are also at the verge of crying.
His father, although normally his face is stoic, now, his face is full of concern towards Felix. His mother, although softly smiling, you can still see traces of worry and concern on her face.
"I… I do not know… I really do not know what's bothering me…"
"Alright son, if ever you find what you are worried about… Tell us alright? We are always here to listen to you."
"Yes… Thank you…"
"Yeah, big bro! Tell us okay?"
Felix caressed his younger sister's tiny head and just smiled at her.
Felix immediately finished his dinner and went back to his room.
Inside his spacious room, he can see Goldy at his usual nest near his desk.
He approached it and caressed its soft feathers.
Goldy, seemingly satisfied because of Felix's caressing, snuggled into his neck.
Felix and Goldy stayed at the position for over 2 minutes, and immediately moved back.
"You stink."
*Screech* *Screech* *Screech*
"Hahahaha!"
*Screech* *Screech*
Felix and Goldy laughed at each other for a good minute before they stopped. Felix sat at his usual desk and just stared at the door of his room.
Looking at the dazed Felix, Goldy attempted to get his attention by flying towards Felix's line of sight.
Felix was startled but he knew that Goldy was just looking out for him.
*Screech* *Screech* *Screech* *Screech*
"Problem? No no, I do not have a prob… Well… alright, I do have a problem."
*Screech*
"You know Goldy, ever since Tanya left the capital, my heart feels tight… It's like there is something constricting it… As the days go by, this feeling also worsened… I do not know Goldy… Is this just a thing of mine… or something greater?"
*Screech*
"Pfft, are you stupid. I do not have a heart disease or some sort. Plus, I ate some of the Goddess's apples. Diseases and curses are clearly off the table."
*Screech* *Screech*
"Yeah… You are right… If this is truly not from my body, then this is something supernatural… Something… that will definitely happen… To whom though? Tanya? That girl will bite no matter what happens to her…"
*Screech*
"Well, yeah.. This foreboding feeling originated when she and her wing were deployed to the Norden front… Will something happen in Norden? Or will Being-X mess with Tanya again.."
*Screech* *Screech* *Screech* *Screech*
"Yeah, if Being-X wanted to mess with Tanya, then I should've had this feeling during the ball, when Being-X appeared. Yes, I was scared and my heart was pounding, but my case right now is the opposite. Instead of my heart pounding out, it feels constricted instead."
*Screech*
"Maybe… something will happen in Norden.. Something… that will change the story that I know… I… want to see what changes so that I can plan for it, and… if something happens to Tanya, I need to be there in order to help her."
*Screech* *Screech* *Screech*
"You're right, I can't just leave this place… If I asked father, he would berate me and be put into lock and key.. We need to go immediately since this constricting feeling is really worsening…"
"If we are to leave the palace, we need it to be now... but how?"
Goldy flew towards the window and pecked it with his beak.
"The window? I gained some weight and height though? Can you still carry me?"
*Screech* *Screech*
"Don't underestimate you? Nah, I'm just worried about your balls, it might fall off you know?"
*Screech* *Screech* *Screech* *Screech* *Screech* *Screech* *Screech*
"Pfft well, alright. Escape route secured. We need to plan it thoroughly in order to be as secretive as possible so that father won't find out."
*Screech*
"Alright, this is what we would do. Listen…."
After Felix told Goldy his plan, he gathered his stuff and he put it inside a backpack.
His stuff consists of simple clothes, his medkit, some stashed food that he has in his room, and money. He also packed his I.D, in case he needed it. But seriously, his eyes alone are I.D. enough…
After checking that his stuff is safe in his bag, he changed his clothes into simple black clothing and grabbed 3 pairs of dark aviator glasses. These glasses are intended to hide his crimson red eyes in order to remain anonymous.
He also grabbed his two operation orbs. The single cored and the dual cored.
Once everything was complete, he wrote a letter intended to his family. This letter will be found by his maid, Mia, early in the morning and will be given to his family.
After writing the letter, he put it atop his desk and went towards Goldy who has now opened the window.
"Are you ready, bud?"
*Screech*
"Then let's go. Remember the plan alright?"
*Screech*
Goldy left the room through the window and hovered atop it. Afterwards, Felix then climbed it and also left through the window. Goldy immediately grabbed Felix's shoulders and flew towards the direction of his own factory.
Unbeknownst to them, Franz, Felix's father, the Emperor, can see them through the window in his room.
Together with Franz is the Grand Butler.
"Your Majesty, should I stop this attempt of sneaking out?"
"No, don't bother him. It looks like he found his way again."
"If you say so, Your Majesty."
Franz and the Grand Butler continued to watch the eagle and human duo soaring the skies, through the window when the Grand Butler reminisced about something.
"It reminds me of the olden times, your Majesty."
"Yes, I also snuck out back then, during my Father's reign, in order to join the frontlines. It was both horrifying and an eye opener for me."
Franz also reminisced about his time sneaking out.
"I remember my father attempting to drag me out of the frontline, but I remained still and joined the other soldiers. That was the only time I disobeyed my Father."
"If you mind, your Majesty, would you tell me what you learned during your stay in the frontline?"
Franz thought about it and said this to the Grand Butler.
"It was truly something. I learned a lot. During these turmoil times, soldiers are the people who are carrying this country's future. They had bled, they sweated, and they died, all for the sake of their own nation."
"Call it patriotism, but their actions for our country are truly remarkable. Since then, I prioritized the military first and foremost. I adapted numerous aids ensuring the comfort and health of our soldiers."
"I just hope that my son would also learn these lessons in his time in the frontline."
The Grand Butler smiled towards the Emperor.
"It looks like the second Prince is already looking out for our soldiers. He made a new gun that will definitely help our soldiers in the frontlines, and it looks like there are more inventions and innovations to come. He also sent numerous food supplies towards the frontline."
"That's right, Grand Butler. That's right."
Franz proudly smiled at the Grand Butler. The Grand Butler in turn asks Franz about Felix's security.
"Your Majesty, what about the security of the second prince?"
"I already radioed Felix's detail. They are currently patrolling around Felix's vicinity. I also left him a surprise in his bag… You see, I had already foreseen Felix's sneaking out, I was just like that back then."
"I see, your Majesty."
Going back to Felix, Felix is now currently in his office. There are no staff inside the factory because it is currently midnight.
Felix went to his desk and opened the box that was atop the desk. Inside the box, is a stainless steel Desert Eagle.
Felix grabbed it and admired it for a few seconds, before putting it inside a nearby handgun holster that was atop his desk. He then attached the same handgun holster on his belt on the right side of his hips.
He then grabbed the 5 magazines that were inside the box and inputted it into his bag.
After making sure that he grabbed what he needed, he then went down towards the factory's storage.
Once he reached the storage, he then grabbed a newly made HM G6 (HK G36c). He also grabbed a gun strap and attached it to the gun.
Felix also grabbed 4 magazines/clips with 30 bullets each magazine. He also put it inside his bag.
Once Felix is set, he then leaves the factory. Felix opted to walk towards the outskirts of the town but then he realized he had a freaking gun hanging on his neck.
Although it was currently midnight, if someone saw him walking with a gun, without any uniform, it might bring about disasters…
So he folded the stock of his gun and inserted it into his backpack, of course, after making sure that the gun safety was on.
Felix then went towards the outskirts of the city in order to leave the capital.
On the way, he noticed that the surroundings were quiet. Normally, the night life in the capital is bustling. He then remembered that it is currently midnight, save for a few bars, most stores were now closed.
Underneath the numerous lamps of the streets, Felix, with Goldy atop his head, walked through the dimly lighted silent streets. The silence was a bit unnerving but they still pushed through the darkness.
Once they reach the outskirts, Felix and Goldy can now see the vast sea of stars atop their heads. They stopped for a moment and admired the scenery.
The scenery was surreal, although it is a little bit plain since almost all of it are plains.., but it gave Felix a little bit of relief from the ever growing feeling of constriction in his heart.
Suddenly, the human and eagle duo heard some rustlings of grass behind them.
Looking back, Felix saw his 10 man security detail… His Imperial Guards, Carl and the others, in full gear, following them.
"Since when?"
"Since you left the palace, your highness. His Majesty told us to follow you…"
"Wait?! Does that mean Father knew?"
"His Majesty always knew, your highness."
"Damn! I thought I was secretive enough…."
"His Majesty also told us to give you this letter."
Carl gave Felix the letter that was entrusted to him.
Felix grabbed it and read it.
The letter entails his father's message for him.
To summarize the letter, his father said to take care of himself first and foremost. He also said that the frontline is unlike any other fights he had experienced. It was definitely harder, harsher, and more unforgiving.
The letter also entails that his father will take care of the factory while he is gone. Of course, his father will also take care of the family's worries for him..
His Father also told him to experience life and bring home a girl to marry, because apparently, his father met his mother in the frontlines….
However, one part of the letter fully brought Felix's attention. This part entails that in the 2nd pocket of his backpack, his Father left him his operation orb… Yes, the quad cored silver operation orb.
Felix immediately brought his backpack down and grabbed the operation orb that was cleverly put inside the 2nd pocket of his backpack.
Looking at the quad cored operation orb, he suddenly thought about why it was given to him..
He knew that his father can't bring out the orb's powers fully… Who knows if he can also bring about its powers fully.. For now, he will stick with the dual cored operation orb since it is the most efficient orb currently for him.
Wait, if father inserted this into my bag,... then does that mean he knows that I will leave the palace ahead of time?
Felix thought about it for a moment and decided to brush it off for now.
Felix then looked towards his Imperial Guards. The group consists of 8 men and 2 women, with Carl as their leader. They also wore their civilian uniforms, mostly black, and an HSG (SVD Dragunov) in their hands.
At their backs are their compact backpacks which their clothes and other belongings are in.
Felix then decided to continue their journey towards the Norden Front.
"Alright, men. Let's go, but secretly… I do not want to attract much attention.."
"Alright, your highness, but why don't we go towards the Northern Army Imperial Command?"
"I would like to go there but not now, I want to, no, I need to go straight to the frontlines. If I went towards the Command Center, I might mess it up…
"Also, I think they would not be comfortable enough to send me towards the frontlines.. They would barricade me inside the Command Center with nothing to go…"
"Remember, I am currently not a Prince, but a soldier."
All his Imperial Guards nodded towards the Prince.
"But hmmm… Thinking about it, I can't be a soldier… A soldier oftentimes has a direct subordinate literally just above them. If we appear in the frontlines as a unit, then we would be ratted out as spies…"
Felix thought more and decided on a plan.
"If being a soldier is not available, then… I might need to be a nurse. A nurse, as opposed to a soldier, oftentimes their ranks are blurred when it comes to saving lives."
"Frontline nurses also know no ranks. If you are capable enough, then you are a nurse. If you can save lives, then you are a nurse."
Felix then looked towards his Imperial Guards.
To add more info, frontline medical tents are oftentimes just a few hundred meters away from the war frontlines. If Felix can stay there and do 'nurse' duties, then they are temporarily set…
"You guys know how to cast a medic spell right?"
""Yes, your highness.""
"Then our destination is the frontline medical tents! Let's go!"
The group then went on towards their destination, Norden. In Felix's past life, Norden was situated in the territory controlled by Denmark and also some of Sweden's tail lands, such as Malmo and Helsingborg."
In this life, the Empire controls the land of Denmark and some territories around it...

November 1, 1924.
A week has passed since they left Berun.
Felix and his group went around the Northern Army Imperial Command, and arrived at the frontlines mainly from the sea.
Felix and his group had currently set up a frontline medical tent, together with other paramedics or nurses as well. They didn't know Felix's identity but they only knew that he is a damn good nurse.
An incident had occurred 3 days ago in the frontlines which prompted Felix to be a nurse, immediately as they set foot in the tent.
Of course, the group introduced themselves as the new nurses or paramedics sent by the Central Command.
There were numerous soldiers who had their arms or legs barely attached due to a sudden artillery fire. Felix and his Imperial Guards immediately attached the barely hanging arms or legs which made the soldiers a little bit relieved.
With the help of medicinal magic, almost all types of wounds, large or small, if given time, can be healed.
After these soldiers were healed, they were promptly sent back to the frontlines, since they were still deemed fit for service….
Some of the nurses in the tent even knew some soldiers, who often went back and forth, from the frontline to the tent and back again to the frontline…
Currently, their tent is situated two kilometers away from the frontlines. The nearest frontline from them is located in modern day Mellbystrand, Sweden. The location is near to the beach.
Although it was fairly safe inside the medical tent (since they are protected by the Geneva Convention), they can still hear numerous explosions in their vicinity.
Felix has now his ears deafened by the continual artillery…
Felix and his group have now served as nurses or paramedics since their stay at the frontline and it is truly taking a toll in Felix's mind.
He realized how fast-paced the environment here in the frontlines. It is also different from his time as a nurse in his past life. Mostly, he still has time to chill, however, here, nah fam, you do not have any time.
Most of his time is composed of just casting medicinal magic spells, stitching, bandaging, etc.. Hell, he even eats while stitching someone's wounds.
However, this day is a little bit different… Although there are still continuous bloodied and wounded patients coming through, the constricting feeling in his heart is a little bit… much more…
It gives Felix a sense of suffocation, which is rather odd. He did not feel this feeling of suffocation these past few days, but… this day… is a little bit different.
He is currently bandaging someone's arms because it was broken, when suddenly, a group of mages flew towards their tents.
Felix and his group were a little bit on guard, but he saw some familiar faces…He was elated to see them in the frontlines, but what he saw,,, was something more horrifying..
He saw Viktoriya and Weiss, together with 10 other more mages, and in Viktoriya's hands is…. Tanya… bloodied and wounded…

I always use ScribbleHub as my writing platform, because their UI is a bit convenient. You know guys what happened? Yes. I accidentally closed the damn tab… I have already written 2,000 words and yet… I mistakenly closed my tab (Ctrl+w)......
I am now writing at Google Docs because it saves my progress HAHAHAHA I SHOULD HAVE WRITTEN HERE FIRST AND FOREMOST DAMN BEING-X!!!!!!!!!!
So yeah, I am late in posting this chapter because of this......
I will try to post another chapter tomorrow, Sunday Philippine Time!
