Chapter 31: I Must Tell Aunt Mikoto

After defeating several groups of rogue ninjas, Shishou and Izumi finally arrived at the borders of the Land of Demons. However, their troubles had only just begun.

Upon entering the Land of Demons, they encountered countless clay soldiers wreaking havoc. These clay soldiers, despite being destroyed, would quickly regenerate, making them nearly impossible to defeat. Under their onslaught, many villages had been decimated, and the civilian casualties were staggering, leaving even Shishou deeply shocked.

Only the fortified cities with strong walls could barely hold off the clay soldiers, maintaining the most basic lines of defense. This left Shishou and Izumi with quite a headache.

For Shishou, the headache wasn't about the clay soldiers themselves. Although they were indestructible, once he summoned his giant centipede, Akako, they posed no real threat. The real issue was the survivors they had rescued along the way, making it difficult for Shishou to proceed unhindered.

In just half a day, Shishou had saved over a hundred people, filling the back of his summoned centipede to capacity.

"Phew, finally a city," Shishou and Izumi sighed in relief as they spotted the distant city walls. They had been carrying the rescued civilians with them and needed to drop them off in a safe place.

After safely delivering the civilians to the city, amidst their gratitude, Shishou and Izumi continued their journey. After another day of trekking, they finally reached the palace of the priestess of the Land of Demons.

...

A few kilometers from the palace, on a high vantage point, Kakashi Hatake, Might Guy, and Anko Mitarashi observed the priestess's palace, which was surrounded by clay soldiers. The palace itself was protected by a powerful barrier set up by the priestess, keeping the clay soldiers at bay and maintaining a temporary safe haven.

However, getting inside the palace to meet the priestess was no easy task.

As they were contemplating their next move, they noticed a group approaching. Turning around, they saw it was a team from Sunagakure.

Leading the Sunagakure team was the renowned scorch release user, Pakura, known for her formidable strength. As she reached Kakashi and his team, she tilted her head and asked, "Cooperate?"

Kakashi glanced at the two skilled Sunagakure ninjas behind Pakura and nodded, agreeing to the cooperation.

"Count me in," a deep voice added. On the other side, Kurotsuchi from Iwagakure had arrived with two other Iwa ninjas.

"Kurotsuchi!" Kakashi and Pakura were both surprised to see him.

Iwagakure had sent Kurotsuchi, the son of the Third Tsuchikage. He was significantly stronger than Kakashi and Pakura, having led Iwagakure to victory over the powerful Third Raikage during the Third Great Ninja War.

"This is not a time for war," Kurotsuchi said. "Our mission is to help the priestess reseal Moryo. There's no need for hostilities."

Kurotsuchi approached Kakashi and Pakura, and they quickly devised a plan. Kurotsuchi would use his earth style to create a giant clay golem to break through the defenses, with Kakashi leading Guy and Anko in the middle, and Pakura covering the rear.

With the plan set, they prepared to move out.

"Look, what is that?" Anko pointed towards the rear of the clay soldiers.

Everyone turned to see a giant centipede charging through the ranks of the clay soldiers, crushing them effortlessly. On the centipede's head stood a man and a woman, the man with his arms crossed, gazing at the distant palace.

The woman, standing behind him, held a flag with the word "Mercenary" written on it. The centipede carried dozens of civilians, clearly saved by the duo.

"Follow them!" Kurotsuchi decided. Although they didn't know who these people were, the civilians on the centipede indicated they were allies. The group quickly agreed and followed the centipede towards the palace.

...

"Does this really work?" Izumi asked, holding up the "Mercenary" flag.

"Of course it does," Shishou replied. "Without any village insignias, no one will let us in easily. The flag shows we're here to help and avoids misunderstandings with other ninja teams."

Standing on Akako's head, Shishou felt a rush of satisfaction as the centipede crushed the clay soldiers beneath them.

"It looks like you were right. Someone's following us," Izumi tugged on Shishou's sleeve, pointing behind them.

Shishou turned to look and was pleased.

Well, if it isn't Pakura and Kurotsuchi, he thought. This is perfect.

He signaled Akako to stop and waited for the approaching ninjas to catch up. As they joined him on the centipede, Shishou greeted them.

"Mr. Kurotsuchi, it's an honor to meet you," Shishou said, extending his hand. Kurotsuchi, a bit taken aback, shook his hand.

Next, Shishou approached Pakura. "Miss Pakura, it's a pleasure to finally meet the famed desert rose of Sunagakure," he said with a smile, extending his hand.

Pakura hesitated but then shook his hand, albeit reluctantly.

"Is this really necessary?" Izumi whispered, feeling slightly annoyed at Shishou's flirtatious behavior.

"I'll have to tell Aunt Mikoto about this," she thought to herself, feeling a pang of jealousy.

With their new allies on board, Shishou led the group towards the palace, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead in their mission to help the priestess reseal Moryo.
