Chương 46: Levy

Oria stood in the shadows of her dimly lit chamber in her temple in the gods' realm, the soft glow of the orb casting an eerie light across her face. She watched intently as the orb's vision displayed Elara, Lilith, and Ella, the trio preparing to leave Brambleton. Each movement they made, every word they uttered, was under her scrutiny.

"There you are," Oria whispered to herself, a twisted smile playing on her lips. "I finally found you. Oh, you are with the new demon lord. How interesting this one is. I see the necklace too. So this is what Jakinn was talking about."

She narrowed her eyes, focusing on Lilith, the one wearing the mysterious necklace that Jakinn had mentioned. The artifact pulsed with a trapped dragon soul energy, its true power masked to the untrained eye. Oria's mind raced with possibilities and schemes. The former hero, now allied with the demon lord, added an unexpected twist to her plans.

"So, they are on the way to find the World Tree sapling. But that is going to be hard; Levy put up a barrier around it to protect it. Hmm, what to do?"

Levy, a seemingly young forest spirit faerie with pink hair and blue eyes, was known for her fierce dedication to guarding the World Tree sapling. Her magic was potent, her barriers nearly impenetrable. Oria sighed, realizing she needed to involve Levy in this matter.

"I guess I have to contact Levy and tell her to find them. The dragon soul is important enough that she should help them bring it to the World Tree," Oria muttered to herself. "What a goddess doesn't have to do to help her world. I'd rather do something else, but duty calls. And I really don't want to give Jakinn a reason to destroy me. I really like my temple."

Oria moved to a large crystal set in the center of her chamber. This crystal was her connection to the various spirits and entities in the mortal realm. Placing her hands on it, she channeled her thoughts towards Levy.

"Levy, hear me," Oria's voice echoed through the crystal, reaching out to the forest spirit faerie. "I have a task for you. A group is on their way to find the World Tree sapling. Among them, there is one who carries a necklace with a trapped dragon soul. This soul must reach the World Tree for its true power to be realized. I need you to assist them."

Levy's image formed within the crystal, her vibrant pink hair and piercing blue eyes glowing softly. She looked at Oria with a mixture of curiosity and concern.

"A trapped dragon soul? That is indeed important," Levy responded, her voice melodic yet firm. "But why should I trust this group? And how can I be sure they won't harm the sapling?"

"They are led by Elara, a former hero now a maid-knight, Ella, a faerie, and the new demon lord, Lilith. They have their own reasons for seeking the sapling, but the dragon soul is vital. Protect it, guide them, and ensure they reach the World Tree. The barriers you have set are formidable, but I trust you can find a way to let them through safely," Oria explained.

Levy nodded slowly, understanding the gravity of the situation. "Very well, I will help them. For the sake of the World Tree and the balance it maintains. Is it fine if I show them the waypoints so it doesn't take years for them to reach the sapling?"

"Yes, that is fine," Oria answered. "This new demon lord is not like the others. She is the balance we were missing."

Oria watched as Levy's image faded from the crystal, feeling a sense of relief. She had taken a significant risk, but the potential rewards outweighed the dangers. The dragon soul reaching the World Tree could tip the balance in their favor, a crucial move in the grand scheme of things.

Oria leaned back, her mind already planning the next steps. The game was becoming more intricate, and every piece had to be in place.

Levy muttered to herself, her frustration palpable. "Pfff. This incompetent goddess. First, she asks me to raise a barrier to ensure no one can harm it like the old one. And now she wants me to lower it so other creatures of this world can reach it. And I even have to fetch them and guide them..."

She sighed heavily, her wings fluttering in agitation. "I finally finished my job that took over 5000 years to do... I want a vacation. I want to see what happened to the world. Well, at least now I can leave this island. And I guess I do get to see the world."

Levy looked around her forest domain, the lush greenery and ancient trees a testament to her dedication. The thought of leaving it behind for a while was both exciting and daunting. She had poured centuries into protecting this place, and now she had to step out into a world that had changed in her absence.

"But why didn't Oria teach them teleportation?" Levy grumbled, her thoughts turning to the group she was supposed to help. "I want my vacation..."

With a resigned sigh, Levy began her preparations. She conjured a small portal, her pink hair shimmering in the magical light as she focused on the location of the trio. The sooner she found them, the sooner she could fulfill her duty and finally take the break she longed for.

As the portal stabilized, Levy stepped through, emerging into a dense forest near Brambleton. She felt the shift in the air, the magic of the World Tree far from her protective island. The sounds of the forest surrounded her, a stark contrast to the tranquil silence of her home.

Levy paused mid-step, realizing a crucial detail had been overlooked. "Wait a minute... This incompetent goddess didn't tell me what they look like. How am I going to find them now? I guess it is rare for a group of three people to walk in the forest alone. One is a maid-knight, one is a faerie, and the last is a demon lord. But then again, demon lords more or less look the same as other people."

She sighed, feeling the weight of her task grow heavier. Despite her frustration, she knew she had to find them. The description Oria gave was vague, but it would have to suffice. Levy decided to use her intuition and experience. Her senses were attuned to the magical energies in the forest, and perhaps she could detect the unique presence of a demon lord or the faerie among them.

Levy closed her eyes, letting her magic spread out like a web across the forest. She focused on detecting any unusual magical signatures, hoping to pick up the distinct aura of the trio. Almost immediately, she felt a faint but familiar energy—an aura that seemed to pulse with both light and darkness. It had to be them.

With newfound determination, Levy flew through the forest, her pink hair trailing behind her like a banner. She followed the magical trail, weaving through trees and underbrush with practiced ease. As she drew closer, the aura grew stronger, and soon enough, she heard voices in the distance.

Levy slowed down, carefully approaching the source of the voices. She peeked through the foliage and saw three figures. One was clad in the armor of a knight, but with the attire of a maid—Elara. Another was a petite figure with delicate wings—Ella, the faerie. And lastly, a woman with an air of authority and power that could only be Lilith, the new demon lord, or so she though. this demon lord is indeed an odd one. i have never felt this before. she is a demon. but she is also a dragon. is that becuz of the necklace around her neck or did something happen.

Clearing her throat, Levy stepped out from the trees, making her presence known. "Greetings, travelers. I am Levy, the guardian of the World Tree sapling. Oria has sent me to guide you."

The trio turned to face her, surprise and curiosity evident on their faces.

"You must be Elara, the maid-knight; Ella, the faerie; and Lilith, the demon lord," Levy continued, confirming their identities. "The journey ahead is long and perilous, but with my help, we can reach the World Tree sapling safely. Follow me, and I will show you the waypoints that will make our journey swifter."

The trio turned around in surprise, their voices overlapping as they spoke almost simultaneously. "Wait, what? Who are you?"

Elara stepped forward, her eyes narrowing slightly as she asked for clarification. "Who are you again? And why do you think that she is a demon lord? Did the goddess send you?"

Levy cleared her throat once more, steadying herself. "Well, I'm Levy, sent here by Oria to guide you to the sapling. Without me, it will take years for you to reach it, and you will need a boat as it's on an island. But there are waypoints I can show you that will make our travel faster."

Lilith frowned, her skepticism evident. "Can we really trust this little pink-haired fae? She is not like Ella. I sense something else... like she is connected to the world somehow."

Ella chimed in, her voice thoughtful. "Well, faeries are not known for being evil, but we are known for our tricks and pranks. However, it would make sense that a faerie is the guardian of the sapling, with our nature magic."

Elara crossed her arms, her expression still wary. "I don't know, guys. I don't like that it's Oria who sent her. I really hate that goddess."

Levy raised an eyebrow, curiosity piqued. "This incompetent goddess... What did she do to you, Elara?"

Elara's demeanor shifted, her voice tinged with sadness. "She trapped me in this world. My soul is forever bound here. If I die, I will be reborn in this world."

Levy's expression softened, a sad smile on her lips. "I see. I know that Oria is incompetent, but a god would never bind a soul to a plane, realm, or world without a reason. If you ask her, she might tell you why she did what she did."

Elara looked away, her anger giving way to a troubled contemplation. Lilith and Ella exchanged glances, their skepticism momentarily overshadowed by empathy for Elara's plight.

Levy took a step closer, her voice gentle yet firm. "I understand your distrust, but my mission is to ensure that the dragon soul within that necklace reaches the World Tree sapling. The balance of our world depends on it. We may not like Oria or her methods, but this task is crucial. Will you trust me to guide you?"

Elara sighed, her resolve wavering. She looked at her companions, seeking their input. Ella nodded slightly, and even Lilith, though still wary, gave a reluctant nod.

"Alright, Levy," Elara said, her voice steadying. "We'll follow your lead. But any sign of deceit, and we're done."

Levy nodded, understanding the gravity of their decision. "I promise, I am here to help. Let's make our way to the waypoints and get you to the sapling as quickly as possible."

With a cautious but determined spirit, the group began their journey, following Levy's lead. The path ahead was uncertain and fraught with challenges, but with the guardian faerie's guidance, they moved forward, each step bringing them closer to their goal and the answers they sought.
