I tried to get into this story because I thought that it would be interesting to see a woman take on such a career in an historical setting. However, there were too many flaws in the writing that haven’t been fixed and haven’t improved. Not the usual gender pronoun issues (although there were some random name swaps that were puzzling), but some ‘word salad’ paragraphs and way too many unfinished sentences &/or paragraphs. If these things distract you from enjoying a story, it may be advisable to pick something else to start reading. If not, then give it a whirl 🤷🏼♀️
