His initial intent was to lower his status so that Lina would give up on him. But it appears he was mistaken. After a moment of daze, Lina couldn't suppress a smile.
"Erwin, do you think I was telling you this after learning that you were driving luxury cars?"
"Well, let's just pretend I didn't say that."
Erwin naturally knew Lina's values, she was nothing like Rose. In that regard, the mere aspects of wealth as life. On the contrary , Lina's family was well-off. Her parents owned several highly profitable hotels. "Whether poor or wealthy, you are the talented man from campus who has pursued me for three years in my eyes."
Lina said as she pulled an envelope from her bag and handed it over to Erwin.
"What's this?" Erwin furrowed his eyebrows slightly and hesitate to take it.
"This is why I went abroad. It's all related to you. I am ready to accept who you are, but..." Lina suddenly looked forlorn and was at a loss for words. After Erwin opened the envelope, he took out the note inside, and saw the words written there.
' Leave Erwin for four years, or your parents ' hotel will go bankrupt.'
"How could this..." Erwin was shoked, clearly, someone had forced Lina to leave the country.
His first thought was her parents. Because his mother had mentioned earlier that his family had raised him poorly, and Lina was a beautiful and rich daughter. Once she became involved with him, given Lina's character, it was unlikely that Erwin would be able to shoulder hardship, let alone expect her to work hard outside.
Maybe she would join her parents company as a senior after graduation, with a high salary and her generous demeanour. Therefore, it was possible that Erwin would not have to worry about food and clothing henceforth, not would he appreciate the difficulties of earning a living like the common flok.
Could it he his parents who orchestrated all this? If this was the case, then he owed Lina. Of course, all this was just Erwin's speculation; he did not know the true purpose of the letter for Lina.
"After I received this letter, my parents hastily arranged for me to go abroad, and they forbade me from contacting you again, so I left without saying goodbye. Even that night, I was ready to commit to pursuit and decided to stay with you together, only this sentence, which is now four years overdue."
Speaking of this, Lina's eyes dimmed. Erwin might understand the reason, it could be because her parents deliberately prevented him from staying with Lina, and the goal was to support him poorly!

Although he might guess some of the reasons, he couldn't explain the situation to Lina.
"It's alright, the letter only said I had to leave you for four years. Now that time has passed, we can be together again."
