Chương 39: AT THE SOUND OF THE WHISTLE; AOI'S CONFRONTATION
Yukio catches the ball outside the arc, sets up and shoots a three pointer. The ball bounced and rattles on the rim until finally it scores putting Toshigawa in the lead with only a few seconds remaining.
It went in !! We've won said Yukio happily. Finally man, it's over said Hayato. He made the shot, we defeated Yokonan. He scored, Tetsuo won, that's such a relief said Haruko to herself. Quit celebrating time is still on the clock , get back on defense!!! Shouted Tetsuo.
Kayano then throws the basketball to the other half of the court and Kogure who is really fast started running to get the ball while Tetsuo quickly followed behind him. Damn, we messed up big time said Yukio as he tried running back on defense however he falls to the ground due to fatigue. Crap!! I'm at my limit he said to himself as he tried getting up.
Go, Kogure !!! End this game!!! Shouted Kayano. Kogure senpai finish this!!! We believe in you!! Shouted some girls.
Kogure then jumps into the air and goes
for a dunk.Tetsuo who was right behind him jumped and met him mid air , blocking him before he could dunk.
I won't allow you said Tetsuo determined.
Huh? Tetsuo I see. Even though I haven't seen you for years, it seems that you still kept your promise and have gotten a whole lot better than when we were kids. You may not remember me but at least you still continued playing basketball and that's why we were able to meet each other again said Kogure to himself as he takes the ball out of Tetsuo's hands in mid air.
What the.. said Tetsuo to himself shocked. Kogure then back spins the ball on the backboard as the whistle blows and the balls swishes. As the ball bounced on the ground, everyone wondered if it counts.
Basket counts said the ref. Kogure who was awaiting an answer sighed and said "Phew".
Oh no, we lost, no way said Shino as tears came to his eyes. God dammit, I shouldn't have celebrated so early. That was way too close for comfort, we almost lost there said Kayano.
Damn, we lost but we were so close said Takahiro as Tetsuo held his head down.
Oh no, they lost, Tetsuo…Said Haruko to herself empathizing with Tetsuo on the feeling of loosing.
Everyone in the crowd who was spectating the match started clapping for Toshigawa. Great work Toshigawa, you're one hell of a team said a soccer player. You guys did well , you were so close despite having only six members said a Yokonan student.

Toshigawa Academy did a good job against us said Keichiro. I hate to admit it but they have all the key players they need to compete. All they need now is to elevate their game for the tournament and let's not forget about their coach a high school girl, she is absolutely brilliant. Maybe I should hire her as my assistant when she graduates said Coach Arimoto.
Both team line up said the ref as everyone except Noboru made their way to the half line. The game between Yokonan high and Toshigawa Academy ended ninety to eighty nine in Yokonan's favor, bow said ref. Thank you for the match said both teams as they bowed.
You guys did well, I hope the lost doesn't get to their heads said Nanaho to herself. That was a great match Hayato, I hope to see more from you said Kayano as he walked up to Hayato. Yes, you're pretty alright yourself, I'll be coming back for revenge at the inter high preliminaries said Hayato.
I see, well you're team has it's work cut out for it. What do you mean? Asked Hayato.
You have two powerhouse teams to overcome before you even get to the preliminaries and trust me when I say this they are strong said Kayano. I see thanks for the heads up .
It's been a while Yukio said Keichiro. Yeah you can say that said Yukio. How's your brother ? He's been well, we just haven't spoken as of late. That's good to hear,
has he been keeping up with his basketball training? I can't say that I'm sure about that.
I see, you guys have done well against us, I hope we can play against each other again and next time I'll be playing. It won't make a difference because next time , we plan on winning said Yukio with a smiled.
Keichiro then walks over to his team who we're the winner of the match. Keichiro, we won said Eiji ecstatically. Keichiro angered slaps him on the head. Ouch! But why, I didn't do anything. That's captain to you.
Listen up everyone!! What you did today was show me that all of you are slacking off. We almost lost a game at our own home court and in the history of the team this has never happened. I'm really disappointed in your performance despite you guys winning.
So starting tomorrow the A team will be joining me on our runs before and after training am I clear!!! Yes! Captain!! Shouted everyone. That includes the both of you too we are doing this as a team said Keichiro.
Hey , how did the game went against Toshigawa? Asked a boy. We won against them but barely, Kogure scored a basket in the final second said a Student. Really? That guy truly is something else. You can say that again said the student as Noboru overheard them while he was laying down in the infirmary. I see, so we lost , huh he said to himself as he turned on his side.
In the Evening everyone walked silently towards Yokonan's front gate.They all seem so bummed out, but I think that they did a good job. That match could have gone either way. One things for sure Tetsuo is really good and he's so cool said Haruko to herself.
I have to figure out a way to break this silence, the lost seem to have greatly impacted their confidence. Noboru is usually loud and confident but now he seems really down said Nanaho to herself.
Tetsuo!!! Tetsuo!!! Said Aoi as she ran towards Tetsuo in a hurry. Huh? Whose that girl? Asked Shino. Everyone on Toshigawa Academy's team stops and watches Aoi embraces Tetsuo with a big hug and tears fill her eyes. Whaaat!!! Said everyone in shock.
How does she know Tetsuo, are they dating? Said Haruko to herself worryingly. Tetsuo you sly dog, how are you bagging the ladies so easily, man I'm so jealous said Noboru to himself.
Who is this girl? Tetsuo asked himself trying to remember her. Kogure told me everything, I can't believe you're here after all this time, I missed you so much, Tetsuo said Aoi as tears continued streaming down her face.
Kogure told her ? what is she talking about? I don't know her , do I? Tetsuo asked himself.
