Chương 37: A ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY
As the game continued Kayano passes the basketball to Kogure. As soon as he received the ball Yukio stepped up to guard him. Kogure then feints to the right which causes Yukio to react and he dribbles in the opposite direction then pulls up for a mid ranged shot which swishes.
Kogure-senpai nice shot!! Shouted some first year Yokonan female students. Kobayashi-kun you can win this, I believe in you said a girl. On the next possession Hayato passes the basketball to Takahiro who took on a triple threat position. I have to score now if I don't we'll be at a disadvantage in the final minutes he said to himself as he shoots a near jumpshot that banks in.
Kayano dribbles between his legs then behind his back and changes his pace exploding towards the hoop and pass Hayato. God dammit, I hate to admit it but he's good way better than me for sure said Hayato to himself as Kayano shoots a floater that swishes.
The next possession was Toshigawa's and Yukio drives strong to the Hoop. He then goes for a layup, however he was interrupted by Ryuu who attempted to block him. As if he was a gymnast Yukio then changes his mind in mid air and does a reverse layup avoiding Ryuu's hand and the ball swishes.
That was amazing!! This game is intense said Kanae as she stood in awe. Did you get that Airi? She asked immediately after. Yes I've gotten everything said Airi. We're all set for the video as well said Yuri. I honestly didn't expect them to make a comeback against this school, they truly are going to represent our school well said Kanae as she smiled.
Yukio improved drastically since the last time we played, will he be a threat to us this season, no I doubt that , one man alone isn't able to carry a team Keichiro said to himself.
Kayano then passes the basketball to Ryuu inside the post. He was guarded by Takahiro who used all of his strength to keep him in check. I refuse to let this bastard stop me said Ryuu to himself angrily as he gives the basketball a powerful bounce on the floor causing Takahiro to stagger back due to their differences in strength. He then spins off of Takahiro and shoots a floater that swishes.
On Toshigawa's possession, Tetsuo dribbles to the other half where he was met by Kogure. Show me what you're made of Tetsuo said Kogure as he smiled. Tetsuo crosses through his legs and got by Kogure easily this time however Kogure immediately caught up.
Tetsuo then made a sudden stop and shoots a fade away two pointer which Kogure contested but failed to block. The ball swishes tying the scores once more.
You got me there, honestly wasn't expecting that from you said Kogure. Kayano passes the basketball to Ryuu in the paint and Takahiro guards him once more. This old looking dude may be basic but he has strength behind him said Ryuu to himself.
Don't force it pass the ball out said Kayano as Manabu set a sudden screen for Kogure. Yukio switch said Tetsuo who reacted and registered solution to the situation quickly.
Ryuu then passes the basketball to Kogure leaving both Tetsuo and him in a one on one situation.
Kogure spun around with his reverse pivot and got by Tetsuo. Tetsuo reacted and got back in front of him. Kogure then fakes a pass to Manabu on the first step he took. Tetsuo reacts however, Kogure uses his second step in the opposite direction which suprised Tetsuo and gave him a sense of nostalgia.
This feels so familiar, when did this happened? He questioned himself as Kogure dunked the basketball. Kogure-senpai you're so cool, please go out with me confessed a girl. Oh my God, nice dunk bro said a student.
Rings a bell yet Tetsuo, you taught me that technique when we were kids , it's called the Euro step. A move that your father taught you when he came back from America said Kogure. What is Kogure rambling about? Does he know Tetsuo? How do they know each other? Yukio asked himself curiously.

He tried to get pass Kayano with a crossover however with quick hands Kayano steals the ball. He then dribbled quickly to the opponent's half and scores a layup. Nice one Kayano said coach Arimoto. Dammit, that mistake can cost us this game said Hayato.
Don't worry we'll get it back said Yukio as he pat's him on the back.Yukio sets a screen for Takahiro who cuts to the hoop. Hayato then passes the basketball to Takahiro who easily beats his defender and scored a floater.
Kayano passes the ball to Manabu and assumes a triple threat position. He then fakes a shot which Tetsuo reacted to and jumped to block. A fake? He got me said Tetsuo to himself as Manabu shoots a two pointer that swishes. Takahiro who went up for a layup was blocked by Kogure.
Kogure then drives to the other hoop. When this scores they can kiss their chances of winning goodbye said Coach Arimoto as he smiled. Slam dunk that ball Kogure said a girl. Aoi looks like Kogure has a large fan base, I'd be careful if i were you said a girl on the swim team. Haha, very funny, I trust him and I've known him for years now even before we started going out with each other said Aoi.
Kogure upon reaching the hoop jumped into the air and goes up for a dunk. However, he was interrupted by Tetsuo who jumped with him and blocked him with two hands. When did you get here Tetsuo? Said Kogure to himself.
No way, that kid, he was able to block Kogure, the difference between their heights and wingspans alone should have made it impossible for him to compete with Kogure in the air said Keichiro as he stood up shocked. He's definitely no ordinary player, for this whole game he has done nothing but impress me , he's truly an extraordinary specimen said coach Arimoto to himself.
Tetsuo dribbles the basketball up court again with Kogure chasing after him. Tetsuo then signals Yukio with his hands. Yukio who understood the signals prepares himself. Tetsuo then throws a lob and Yukio jumps into the air, catches the ball and dunks it.
Whoa, an alley oop!! Toshigawa is a crazy team. There are certainly full of surprises despite being a small team. In all honesty, this game isn't about defense anymore , its about who can score the most, give it your all Yukio said Nanaho to herself.
Defense!! Defense !!! Defense!!! Shouted Haruko. That's the way Takahashi, cheer them on said Haruko. On the next possession Kogure scores a layup. Takahiro sets a screen for Tetsuo and Tetsuo scores a layup. Kayano passes the basketball to Ryuu and he dunks the basketball.
Tetsuo crosses and got by Kogure. He drives towards the rim and Kogure caught up. Tetsuo then made a sudden stop and shoots a bank shot that swishes.
Ryuu sets a screen for Kogure and Kogure cuts to the rim. Kayano passes the basketball to Kogure and Kogure does a reverse dunk.
On the next play, Takahiro sets a screen for Hayato who drives and shoots a floater that swishes. On Yokonan's next possession Kayano crosses Hayato and he steps back and shoots a two pointer that swishes.
This is bad , there is only one minute and thirty seconds remaining and we are down by four, we can't seem to close the gap said Nanaho to herself. Tetsuo drives strong to the rim and goes up for a layup and Kogure jumps to block.Tetsuo who sensed this changes the ball's position in the air and does a double clutch that scores.
Whoa!!! You got to admire number eleven's mad skills said a student. The game is down to a two points difference!! We need to stop them on this play everyone, play hard and don't stop until you hear the whistle!! Shouted Yukio.
This is it, if we score here it will be the end of the game said Coach Arimoto. Do your best everyone!!! We can win this!!! Shouted Shino. Kayano passes the basketball to Ryuu, Takahiro puts pressure on Ryuu. I will defend our basket, you'll not score anymore said Takahiro filled with determination.
god dammit said Ryuu as he passes the basketball to his teammate. His teammate passes the basketball to Kogure. Kogure tries to shake off Yukio with his dribbling however, Yukio stands firm and plays solid defense.
You won't budge huh Yukio said Kogure as passes the basketball to Manabu.
Tetsuo steps to guard Manabu who was hesitant to make a move due to fear. What's wrong , are you too scared to challenge me ? Asked Tetsuo. Why you... I'm better than you said Manabu as he goes up for a three pointer. Manabu don't ,what the hell is wrong with you said Kayano.
Tetsuo jumps and blocks Manabu's shot.

The ball was heading out of bounds however Noboru sees this and runs after it. If it goes outside, it will be all over, we will loose said Noboru as he hits the basketball off of Ryuu making the ball go out of bounds.
Out of bounds, black ball said the ref. Damn, you bastard said Ryuu angrily. Noboru gets up off the floor and then smirks at him and say " Whose the trash now?". Nice one Noboru , great work said Takahiro. Good one
Noboru said Yukio as he made a sigh of relief. They did it, they stopped Yokonan said Haruko to herself happily. Give me a timeout!! Shouted Nanaho. Timeout Toshigawa Academy said the ref.
