"Hmm, this is quite the case," Dr. Sato said, rubbing his chin.
Hearing such a remark, Ayame didn't know what to feel other than getting even more worried, "What do you mean, Sato-san? What happened to him?" Ayame tried to keep her calm, but the anxiety was leaking out of her voice and her trembling eyes.
"Don't worry, I'll tell you. But isn't this Arashi Sora? I remember him from over a decade ago," The doctor surprisingly didn't forget about Sora.
"Y-you remember him? I was thinking you would have forgotten," Ayame was impressed by his exceptional memory.
"How could I forget? Especially considering a certain someone threatening me for information," Dr. Sato chuckled. Ayame was feeling embarrassed.
"T-that was..... FINE! Fair enough!" Ayame gave up trying to defend herself, "Tell me what's wrong, is it in any way connected to that?"
"From the description of Arashi-kun's breakdown," Dr. Sato's gaze turned serious as he began, "the chances are very high that it was connected with his past all those years ago. The reason he has amnesia in the first."
Ayame's anxiety skyrocketed. The thing she feared the most. His past. His amnesia. Those words sent chills down her spine.
"You had mentioned him seeing a knife, in the "ghost's" hand, right? If I had to guess, that was the trigger. Arashi-kun's parents' bodies had stab marks," Dr. Sato explained.
Ayame was feeling guilty. She was the reason Sora was going to the haunted house. What if she had gone on another ride? All this time she was angry at the fake ghost. But wasn't this all her fault? The pain and terror Sora must have felt during those moments.
Ayame clenched her fists, her knuckles turning pale.
"Mrs. Tsubasa, calm down. I know you're feeling guilty, but this would have happened one day or another," Dr. Sato calmly stated.
"Y-yes. My bad. So what now? What do you suggest we do?"
"Well, first of all, you need to understand regaining his memories isn't a bad thing, we just need a gentler approach, a way to help him confront the past at his own pace," Dr. Sato carefully explained, "Regaining his memories, even the difficult ones, could be very beneficial for Arashi-kun. Especially for his long-term psychological health. Right now, the amnesia creates a gap in his mind. Filling that gap can offer a sense of closure, allowing him to understand who he truly is."
"This makes me remember. I remember he once mentioned, his parents died in a car crash. What's that about?" Ayame questioned, her face filled with confusion.
"Huh? That's interesting. My records say his parents were murdered," Dr Sota raised his eye brows.
"Perhaps Arashi-kun is deluding himself to fill the gaping hole in his memories. Maybe a family member fabricating a story to shield him from the harsh reality? Or..... someone may be deliberately feeding him misinformation. We can't rule anything out at this point."
"Hmm," Ayame decided to put that thought into investigation.
"Though that is important to look into, I am sure you can do it in your spare time. I mean, is there anyone better than you at finding information?" Dr Sato remarked teasingly, "But for now, the primary goal is to create a safe space for Arashi-kun. It can be your house. Anything that can make him feel safe," Dr Sato emphasized the words 'Your house'.
Dr Sato then started outlining a detailed plan for Sora's recovery. They would start with positive memories. Ayame was suggested to spend time with him, cooking with him, and going on dates with him.
Dr Sato also mentioned about journaling. Sora will be asked to journal any dreams he has, right after waking up.
"The time it will take to fully Sora will vary depending on his mental strength, which is undoubtedly very weak at this point," Dr Sato explained, "Your role, Tsubasa-san, is crucial in his recovery. He needs someone he trusts, someone who will stay by his side through this whole journey."
Ayame was filled with unwavering determination. The path ahead won't be easy. But she won't let anything stop her. Her twisted love for Sora will be her fuel. She will do anything to make Sora smile again like he used to.
"He is waking up it seems," Ayame turned her head, and saw Sora rubbing his eyes.
He looked at her, then started looking around the place, his face filled with confusion.
After some time, he finally remembered what happened. Confusion was replaced with fear, his body trembling again.
Ayame got up from her seat and started getting closer to him. Just as she got within arms distance of him, she hugged him, caressing his head.
Sora's cheeks started heating up but he internally calmed down.
"W-where are w-we?" He asked.
"Don't worry Sora-kun. We are in the hospital. Relax and have some water to hydrate yourself. We have a lot to talk about later, just focus on resting for now," Ayame replied, her voice gentle.
"Mhmm," Sora trusted her, so he drank some water and relaxed in the bed. Ayame went back to talking with Dr Sato.
Sora was staring at them, seeing them conversing so calmly, Sora felt a burning sensation in his heart..... 'Is this jealousy....?' He thought, confused at his own emotions.
