Chương 3: 01-100
"A book?", Kai asked. "Yes, a book. Here is the book. But if you ever gave up on killing yourself. Then you can give this book to someone else.", Mr. Cohen said with a bright smile.
"You are useless. I don't need anything from you.", Kai said. "But you asked me to give you money to pay your college fees. Why don't you take a student loan and continue your studies?", Mr. Cohen said.
"Shut up. You don't know anything.", Kai shouted again. "Are you still hungry? Why are you shouting? OK, Calm down. I know. I don't know anything about you. But tell me do you want this book or not?", Mr. Cohen asked.
Kai didn't reply. He was sitting on the road with his head down. He was lost in his thoughts, "I also wanted to take a student loan but who will give me a student loan? I need to earn a scholarship to gain admission to the engineering college but I got rejected?", He thought.
"Here is the book. I'm going to leave you with this book. Read it. This is a single copy in this whole world. There is no other copy of this book. Feel free to use it.", Mr. Cohen said and stood. Before leaving he turned and said, "If you want then I could give you a ride in your favorite Bugatti Veyron 16.4."
"He even knows about my favorite car.", Kai murmured. "I didn't hear you. Repeat it.", Mr. Cohen said. "What is your name? Who are you?", Kai asked.
"I'm you, Kai. My name is Kai Cohen.", Mr. Cohen said. "Are you joking with me? Is this a prank?", Kai shouted. "You are the one who is playing around and fooling yourself that taking your life will ease your pain. You are making a selfish choice."
"I don't need your lecture.", Kai shouted. "You can call me Eva. Make sure to read that book. Goodbye then.", Mr. Cohen said. "Are you fooling again? Eva is a girl's name." Kai raised his head and yelled. But there was no one there.
Kai stood and looked around. He ran in all directions but he didn't find a single soul there. Kai grabbed that book from the road. He read the title, "100 Ways to Die-A guidebook to help you"
Kai laughed at the title of the book. He heard some footsteps. "You are back. Tell me why did you give me that book?", Kai said this while turning around. The person standing there was not Mr. Cohen. He was the police officer Steve. He had met before.
He asked, "What are you doing here?" Kai couldn't answer anything. He took him to the police station and asked Kai to call his parents. Kai didn't speak a single word. He was holding that book. He didn't want to call his parents.
The police officer asked about Kai's uncle. Kai didn't respond at all. Kai was sitting in the corner of the room. The police officer ordered a hot soup and a towel for Kai.
He gave him a towel to dry his clothes and hair. Kai took the towel and ate the hot soup as well. The police officer left the room after a call and told Kai to take a rest. Kai examined that book. Luckily, the police officer had not seen that book.
Kai looked at the cover of the book. It was a black cover with a red font used on it to write "100 Ways to Kill-A guide book to help you." There was no author name or anything else was mentioned in the book. He turned the book and checked the back side as well. It was all black with nothing else on it except the title.
Kai opened that book. There was no table of contents in that book as well. The first page was blank. Kai turned to the next page. There was a bold heading, "First Method to Die"
Kai was going to read next but someone snatched that book from him. "What are you doing?", It was a new police officer. He looked at that book. He read it and asked, "Who does take you here?"
Kai felt an unseen pressure and replied, "Officer Steve"
"That man is very sensitive. He got a new hobby of collecting abandoned human kids like kittens. I need to keep him in check.", The police officer said.
"Now, kid run away. Before Steve returns. The choice is all yours. If you want to be in trouble then sit here or take a shortcut and run away.", The police officer suggested. "Why does everyone give me suggestions with no other option?", Kai thought.
Kai didn't want to involve her parents in this matter. He took his wallet and card. Kai was going to leave but the officer said, "You forgot this.", He threw the book to him. Kai caught the book and ran away.
'is this book magical or Am I lucky?", Kai murmured. The latter option was not feasible so Kai became superstitious and kept running. He reached in a busy street. He sat under the street light and opened that book again.
"Am I abandoned? No, nobody had abandoned me. I'm the one who had abandoned this world and wanted to rest.", Kai thought. Kai read the first chapter.
"You are reading this book after numerous failures to end your life. Some common reasons of your failures are your parents, friends, secret crush and a few strangers who wont't let you die easily. They are the reason of your happiness in your life as well as the reasn of misires in your life as well."
"The unrealistic dreams of your parents for you (which you can never fulfil), the urge to go on the trips with your freinds (which you couldn't afford), the fear of rejection from your crush and the advices and lectures from the strangers, who don't even know you."
Kai stopped reading. He was sweating. He was reading his life story in this book. He ran and went to a nearby book store. He went to all of the shelves and searched for that book. He even asked the owner for a book with that name. But nobody had heard about a book like this.
The owner checked about it on the internet. Because that book's title had peaked his interest. But there was no book like this. Kai left the book store. He went to a park nearby and sat on a bench under the streetlight.
