This time, if I could collaborate with the club for the charity event, it would be all to my advantage and no harm.
But the current problem is that I don't know many of those higher-ups, and although I've made friends with some of the ladies during this time, Mrs. Chu quite obviously doesn't want to tie her fate to mine.
She just rejected me today, and if I ask her for help again, she might not agree.
The other ladies, I reckon, have already gotten wind of the situation. They all follow Mrs. Chu's lead, naturally taking her word, and none would risk offending her to curry favor with me.
"Madam Yan, there's no need to trouble yourself further. I don't suppose you could help arrange a meeting? I'll host a dinner as thanks."
A flicker of resistance passed through Madam Yan's eyes, and her grip on my hand gradually loosened, but she quickly let out a light chuckle.
