Chương 38: 38. 9 Tailed Fox
Zoro is pinned beneath the gigantic 9-tailed fox's body. Other people who are in the same situations have been crushed to death, but that's not the case for Zoro.
His body is very strong and sturdy. After all, he lifts tons of weights every day for his training. Even the weights he strapped on his body have become 2.5 tons in total and he still lifts more weights in his training sessions.
He is crushed by one of Kurama's feet and he sinks into the ground. Even the hard ground is softer than Zoro's body now.
"Ugh! T-this motherfucker!"
Zoro gets very pissed. He still doesn't know what happens and thinks that someone is attacking him by dropping something very heavy onto him.
The heavy thing suddenly disappears though as Kurama lifts his leg. Zoro comes out of the ground and his angry face turns into an annoyed face.
"What the-? Damn! Are you serious? Of all the time for this to happen, it happens today when I'm here?"
Zoro almost forgot about this event actually. But he can't believe it happens now of all times and it really pisses him off.
"Damn motherfucker decided to disturb my sleep. What I hate the most is when someone disturbs my sleep and meal. I'll fucking kill you."
A lot of veins pop out of Zoro's face because he is very pissed now. He takes his swords and looks at Kurama with a murderous gaze.
Kurama is under Obito's control now, but it's still the giant fox that crushed him before. So Zoro still wants to hit that fox.
Zoro dashes below Kurama. All his swords are covered with Haki and chakra to strengthen his attack.
"3-Sword Style: 1080 Pound Phoenix!"
Zoro's 1080 Pound Phoenix is shaped like a spiralling cannon beam composed of 3 intertwined attacks. He makes it like that to hit Kurama in one spot from below.
*BOOM*
The attack hits Kurama and actually sends the giant fox fly high even though it doesn't seem to inflict any injuries.
But Zoro's aim is just to send Kurama fly high for his next attack.
"TORAO!"
"ALRIGHT!"
Torao comes out of Zoro's shadow in his tiger-sized form. Zoro gets on Torao's back and then the big cat jumps very high to chase the flying Kurama.
"Sorry about this, foxie. But maybe you should be more resistant to genjutsu."
Zoro gets into the same stance as before after they get into the same height as Kurama. He uses 1080 Pound Phoenix again, but now it's horizontal and he sends Kurama fly to the forest.
The onlookers are dumbfounded seeing the giant fox being sent flying so easily like that. But they are also relieved because the 9-tailed fox has been sent away from the village before the damage increases.
Kurama hasn't had a chance to thrash around the village, so the casualties aren't that big yet. Some buildings have been destroyed and some people lost their lives, but it could be worse if Zoro didn't send it away quickly.
Zoro and Torao chase Kurama to continue the fight. He's sure Obito will appear near Kurama because he intervenes too early so Konoha doesn't get much damage.
Right now, Zoro really wants to punch Obito in the face for disturbing his sleep. So he needs to chase Kurama because he doesn't know where Obito is.
They finally arrive on where Kurama falls. Torao quickly enters Zoro's shadow and Zoro is approaching Kurama while tying his bandana on his head.
"Uninjured, huh? I guess I don't need to hold back against this giant fox. It's finally time to go all out after holding back for so long."
Zoro's swords are completely covered with haki and chakra. His Haki is also stronger now as he uses Advanced Haki that gives thick dark purple aura around his swords.
There are even black lightning bolts around his swords as the result of his Conqueror Haki. Yes, he also has Conqueror Haki just like the original Zoro, but it hasn't been long since he can control it, so it's still weak.
"Come on, fox! Let me see the power of a Tailed Beast!"
Zoro glares at Kurama and uses his Conqueror Haki on the giant fox. He only intends to provoke Kurama, but then a strange thing happens. The sharingan reflection on Kurama's eyes disappears.
"Huh? What the he-."
*ROAR*
Kurama roars after the genjutsu that takes away his control over his body disappears. He looks at Zoro who unknowingly releases the sharingan's genjutsu.
"Conqueror Haki can negate genjutsu? But why did nothing happen when I used it in the genjutsu Torao used on me for my training in the genjutsu world?"
The confused Zoro suddenly jumps back to avoid a tail attack from Kurama. He might've released Kurama from the genjutsu, but this fox still hates humans, so Zoro is still his enemy.
"Tsk! Let's think of this annoying thing later. I'll focus on this fight first."
Zoro can find the answer later, but for now, he needs to focus on fighting this giant fox. He charges toward Kurama while avoiding its attacks.
The pissed Kurama then starts to form a Tailed Beast Bomb, so Zoro quickly makes his attack. He arrives right below Kurama's head and makes his move.
"Santoryu: Kokujo O Tatsumaki!" (3-Sword Style: Kalasutra Great Dragon Twister!)
Zoro creates a massive tornado made of flying slash attacks. The attack hits Kurama's face and body. It actually pushes Kurama back and makes it fail to create the bomb.
Angry, Kurama extends all its 9 tails to attack Zoro. So Zoro tries to evade, but he can't evade everything because the attacks are too fast and have great ranges.
He starts blocking and parrying them now, which surprises Kurama because there aren't many people who can deflect his attacks just with physical strength.
But then Kurama uses a tail to swipe from the side and even though Zoro blocks it, he is sent flying away to the side.
He lands without any problem and sees that Kurama is rushing towards him. Kurama jumps with a powerful claw attack ready to hit Zoro from above.
"Ichi Gorilla! Ni Gorilla!" (1 Gorilla! 2 Gorillas!)
Zoro's biceps suddenly bulge and he turns around.
"Nigori-Zake!" (Two-Strong Strength Slash!"
Before Kurama's claws hit him, Zoro jumps and counters Kurama's attack with his swords. The clash creates a powerful impact that roots the trees around them.
They get into a stalemate, but then Kurama's foot gets pushed back and Zoro also gets sent flying back quite far. It surprises Kurama how this human has enough strength to match him.
"Who are you, kid?"
"Oh? You suddenly decide to talk?"
"Tsk! Just answer my question!"
"What a bad temper. My name is Roronoa Zoro. Is that enough?"
"Roronoa? Never heard of that clan."
"Well, surely not. There is no such a clan, after all. I'm the only one with that name."
Well, at least there's no one else in this world with the Roronoa family name, so he is telling the truth.
Kurama is surprised again because he thought Zoro is a descendant of a great clan like Senju or Uzumaki that have great strength. He never thought Zoro to be an orphan who made his own family name.
Not like it matters anymore now. Both of them fight again and Zoro really holds his ground against Kurama.
But slowly, Kurama gains the upper hand. The Tailed Beast just has a lot more power, chakra, and stamina than Zoro.
Kurama swipes Zoro away once more before preparing a Tailed Beast Bomb. Zoro clicks his tongue and prepares to make a very strong attack.
"I never used this in a real battle before, but this is the strongest attack I can do now."
Zoro rushes toward Kurama while spinning the swords in his hands.
"Santoryu Ogi: Ichidai Sanzen Daisen Sekai!" (3 Sword Style Secret Skill: Great Three Thousand Great Thousand Worlds!)
Zoro leaps forward and swings his swords at Kurama. He lands behind Kurama and then a big cut appears on Kurama's body.
That attack manages to injure Kurama, making the fox fail to make the Tailed Beast Bomb. But it doesn't cut Kurama's body in half like Pica's stone body. It only sends Kurama slides on the ground quite far.
"Either I'm not strong enough yet or he is just much more durable than Pica's stone giant."
Kurama struggles a bit to stand up, but it doesn't seem like he has much problem to continue the fight.
On the other hand, Zoro is very exhausted. He is still not used to Enma that keeps eating his Haki and his stamina is also getting very low after taking all of Kurama's attacks that were very strong.
He is prepared to squeeze every last drop of his energy. But suddenly, big chains are appearing out of nowhere and wrapped Kurama's body.
