By the time they returned to the villa, it was already night.
Wen Nannan put on an apron to prepare dinner, while Lu Huai took out his toolbox.
External defenses alone were not enough.
In addition to the security bars on the windows, Lu Huai had purchased steel windows... doors? Covers?
Whatever they were called, there were two of them, the kind that pulled inwards. They ensured both light and security. However, there weren't many of these, so only the first floor was equipped.
When Wen Nannan asked how he found such... awesome things, Lu Huai's answer was concise:
"Custom-made."
Wen Nannan fell silent and quietly brought out soup from the kitchen.
She adjusted the solar lamp above her head. "Brother Lu, wash your hands, dinner's ready."
Both of them ate quickly.
After eating her fill, Wen Nannan yawned and returned to her room.
Without electricity, the town had no nightlife.
The night was quiet.
