Chương 18: Chapter [18]

Kuoh Academy

The first classes passed without incident, with Kaito trying to focus on his studies and ignore the curious looks he was receiving from his classmates. During the break, he and Hiro decided to head to the cafeteria.

"So, Kaito, what do you think about the double date?" Hiro asked as they sat down at the table with their lunch trays.

Kaito sighed, still somewhat reluctant. "Hiro, I really don't know if I'm ready for this. I'm still dealing with a lot of things."

Hiro gave an encouraging smile. "I understand, Kaito. But maybe it's a good way to distract yourself for a bit. Plus, you don't have to commit to anything. Just go and have fun."

Kaito thought for a moment, considering Hiro's words. He knew his friend was trying to help him break out of his routine and forget about his problems for a while. "Alright, Hiro. I'll go. But you owe me one for this."

Hiro laughed, visibly relieved. "Deal. It'll be fun, you'll see."

After finishing their meal, Kaito decided it was time to head to the occult research club. "Hiro, I need to go to the occult research club now."

Hiro looked at Kaito, surprised and a bit envious. "Really? You're actually going to that club? I heard it's super exclusive and that the two prettiest girls in school are part of it."

Kaito shrugged, trying to appear indifferent. "Yes, I'm going. I have some things to sort out there."

Hiro shook his head, still in awe. "Man, you're lucky. If I could, I'd give anything to be in your place."

Kaito smiled, trying not to dwell on the implications of being in the occult research club. "Well, it's just a club, Hiro. But I'll see you later, okay?"

Hiro nodded, still a bit envious. "Sure, Kaito. Good luck there."

Kaito stood up and began walking toward the building where the occult research club was located.

Upon reaching the club's door, Kaito took a deep breath and knocked lightly before entering. The room was bathed in soft light, and he could see Rias sitting at her desk, with Akeno by her side. Kiba and Koneko were chatting in a corner, but everyone stopped what they were doing as Kaito entered.

Rias looked up at the knock and smiled when she saw Kaito enter. "Kaito, welcome. Please, come in."

Kaito entered the room, feeling the gaze of the other club members on him. "Hi, Rias. Hi, everyone," he greeted, trying to appear at ease.

Rias stood up from her desk and approached Kaito, holding a stack of pamphlets. "Kaito, as you know, one way for a low-class Devil to rise in rank is by forming contracts with humans. This helps increase your power and influence."

Kaito nodded, listening attentively. "I understand. What do I need to do?"

Rias handed him the stack of pamphlets. "You need to distribute these pamphlets after school. They contain information on how people can contact us to form contracts. It's an important part of our work."

Kaito looked at the pamphlets in his hands, quickly reading the content. "Okay, I can do that. Where should I distribute them?"

Rias smiled, pleased with Kaito's willingness. "You can start around the school and then expand to other areas of the city. The more people know about our services, the better."

Kaito nodded, but instead of heading out the door, he went to the club's window and threw the pamphlets out of it.

Rias was visibly upset, her expression of surprise and irritation evident. "Kaito, what are you doing? Those pamphlets are important!"

Kaito looked at her with a calm smile. "Trust me, Rias. Look out the window."

Still annoyed by what Kaito had done, Rias went to the window, expecting to see the pamphlets scattered on the ground. Instead, she was surprised to see the wind carry each pamphlet in different directions, distributing them efficiently around the area.

The wind seemed to act intelligently, guiding the pamphlets to places where they would be noticed by people. Some softly landed in the hands of curious passersby, while others were strategically placed on notice boards and bus stops.

Rias watched the scene, her expression of indignation slowly turning to admiration. "Kaito, how did you do that?"

Kaito smiled, approaching the window to see the result. "I just used a bit of my ability with the wind. I thought it would be a faster and more efficient way to distribute the pamphlets."

Akeno, Kiba, and Koneko joined them, also impressed by the sight. "Incredible," Akeno commented, a smile on her lips. "You really have a special talent, Kaito."

Kiba nodded in agreement, impressed. "That was well thought out. A smart way to use your abilities."

Koneko, always calm and reserved, gave a small nod of approval.

Rias turned to Kaito, a genuine smile on her face. "I admit, Kaito, you surprised me. It was a brilliant idea."

Kaito responded playfully. "Of course, it was."

"Senpai," called Koneko.

Kaito looked at her, curious. "What is it, Koneko?"

Koneko stepped a bit closer, leaning slightly to sniff the air around Kaito. "You smell like flowers."

Kaito was surprised and a bit embarrassed. "Ah, thank you, Koneko."

Akeno laughed softly, her melodic voice filling the room. "Ara, ara, that's adorable." Akeno thought that by taking a bath with Kaito, she too would smell like flowers.

Rias also laughed, and Kiba gave a discreet smile, enjoying the lightness of the moment. Rias thought this was one of the perks of being a fairy.

Koneko, maintaining her composure, continued. "Kaito, you're a fairy, aren't you?"

Kaito hesitated for a moment before confirming. "Yes, Koneko. I'm half-fairy."

Koneko's eyes sparkled with rare animation. "Can you show your wings? I want to see what you look like."

Kaito tensed up at Koneko's request, his expression hardening slightly. "I... I can't show my wings, Koneko."

Koneko pouted, looking at Kaito with curiosity. "Why not?"

Kaito sighed, trying to find the right words. "Because I'm a Devil now. The demonic powers interfered with my transformation. It wouldn't be like the fairy from the children's books you imagine."

Rias, noticing Kaito's discomfort, intervened. "Koneko, leave Kaito alone. He has his reasons."

Koneko nodded, her face returning to its usual calm expression. "Sorry, Kaito. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."

Kaito smiled, trying to ease the tension. "It's okay, Koneko. Just don't be disappointed in the future when I show my true form. It might not be what you expect."

Koneko nodded, her interest still evident but respecting Kaito's boundaries. "I understand. Thank you for telling me."

Akeno, trying to change the subject, smiled and said: "Kaito, you really did a great job with the pamphlets. I think you'll do very well in your new responsibilities."

Kaito smiled, feeling more at ease. "Thank you, Akeno. I'll do my best."
