The song finally ended, and the pairs on the dance floor had to step away from each other to bow and curtsy. Charlton and Serena did the same.

As Charlton bowed and faced her again no longer wearing his sour face, Serena suddenly found all her annoyance gone. Instead, it was replaced with some wistfulness.
