...

Arthur remembered the figure before him, but it seemed the other person didn't recognize him. Of course, it made sense—Arthur was also cloaked and had remained silent. Naturally, the cloaked figure in front of him wouldn't realize that this was the person who nearly got them killed by a monster with just one sentence.

After a while, the two figures emerged from the blacksmith shop.

"Ugh, why is it slightly more expensive than I expected?" Black Cat muttered, a trace of frustration in her voice. She had saved up Kel for over a month, hoping to buy a decent weapon, only to find she still needed a bit more for the one she wanted. She had borrowed some from her companion, but he didn't have much either since most of his earnings went on food.

As the two walked away, Arthur watched them leave in silence.

When the shop was finally empty of players, Arthur pushed aside the curtain and stepped into the bustling blacksmith shop.

Without a word, Arthur placed the barrel of wheat beer he bought at the tavern in front of the blacksmith, Sge. "I heard there's a quest here?"

Sge glanced at the barrel, then at Arthur. "Adventurer, completing my quest isn't easy, though a fine wheat beer is indeed my favorite."

"Well, since there's no one else, why not let me give it a try?" Arthur hadn't expected the NPC to resist the bribe, a slight twitch forming at the corner of his mouth.

The blacksmith Sge strok

The blacksmith Sge stroked his bearded chin thoughtfully and then nodded. "Alright, since you brought me this beer, I'll give you the quest."

A notification appeared in Arthur's view, detailing the quest exactly as Algo had described.

**Quest Step One: Escort NPC Blacksmith Sge to the western wastelands to obtain crystal ore. This quest has three parts, with the subsequent tasks unlocking upon completion of the current step.**

"Although you've taken the quest, I still need to see if you're up to the task," Sge said, taking the beer but adding a challenge Argo hadn't mentioned.

Arthur frowned slightly. Argo wouldn't have missed this detail, so it must be a change from the beta. Considering it's now a death game, such a test to ensure players' safety early on made sense.

Arthur didn't dwell on it. Given his current strength, he could easily handle the wastelands, and the test was probably designed for players barely able to enter that area.

"So, adventurer, do you still want to accept this quest?" Sge asked sternly.

"Yes," Arthur replied without hesitation.

"Very well. My nephew Ado from the city guard usually escorts me to gather ore, but he's busy right now. I'm running low on crystal ore, so you need to prove your capability by challenging Ado. If you win, you'll escort me," Sge explained.

"Understood," Arthur nodded. After receiving Ado's location, he left the blacksmith shop.

In the northern district of Urbus, Arthur found Ado, the city guard captain, leading his patrol.

**City Guard Captain Ado, LV15.**

Arthur noted the information above Ado's head and drew his backup sword from his inventory.

"Captain Ado, a moment please," Arthur approached, stopping Ado.

"Adventurer, what do you need?" Ado, clad in full armor, towered over him, his voice gruff.

"Your uncle, Blacksmith Sge, wants me to escort him to gather crystal ore but is concerned about my abilities. He asked me to spar with you," Arthur explained.

"My uncle? I see," Ado unsheathed his longsword. "Make it quick, I'm on duty."

Arthur didn't waste time. In his vision, Ado's neutral marker shifted to a duel marker. Arthur brandished his sword, assuming a ready stance.

Other players noticed the interaction, curious about what appeared to be a foolish attack on an NPC. However, as Arthur struck at Ado, they were surprised to see the city guards didn't intervene.

A white flash of Arthur's blade demonstrated his proficiency. Though not as powerful as his White Rose Star move, his high sword skill level made his strikes significantly stronger than most players'.

"That speed!" Players murmured in awe, seeing Arthur's swift, precise thrusts that seemed impossible to dodge.

Not wanting to be observed for too long, Arthur unleashed his full skill, utilizing his level 5 Sword Mastery.

Suddenly, his sword felt like an extension of his body, moving with fluid precision.

The flurry of strikes left Ado unable to react. By the time he realized, his health bar had...

Arthur's rapid strikes completely drained Ado's health bar, ending the duel.

"You're quite the remarkable adventurer. Go back to my uncle now," Ado said, sheathing his sword and leading his patrol away.

Arthur, confirming the trial task was complete, quickly departed as well.
