A Prelude To A New Era

The Headquarters for the marines had been rampant since Whitebeard's assult on Mariejois.

The damages, along with the countless deaths of both slaves and minor World Nobles had left them with much to do so that they could reestablish peace within the Holy Land. Fleet Admiral Kong had also heard rumors of the Celestial Dragons protesting, demanding the heads of both Whitebeard and Boris. Moreover, the case was still going on, and the Five Elders were going through hell trying to negotiate with them.

However, that wasn't the Fleet Admiral's concern at the moment. Right now his current worry was that of the sudden outbreak of pirates.

News of Whitebeard's assult on Mariejois had been surpressed for the most part. Unfortunately, the World Economic News Agency somehow managed to get a tip that the Whitebeard Pirates had managed to attack Enies Lobby. They were quick to get to the truth of the matter, so when the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Division Commanders were leaving Enies Lobby via the Gate of Justice, a World Economic News ship had travelled all the way there and met the Whitebeard Pirates right as they left the area.

The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Division Commanders even went as far as taking a picture together with the World Noble they had captured through their ordeal. Fleet-Admiral Kong was going to head to Enies Lobby to handle the matter personally, but that was when he was bombarded by more reports of the Whitebeard Pirates numerous assults on numerous World Government assets.

He caught hell trying to organize every affected area efficiently without any serious consequences. Matter of fact, he was so preoccupied with the situation, that he had forgotten the possibility of sending Admiral Zephyr to handle the matter. However, it wasn't like Zephyr would have handled the matter as carefully as Kong would have wanted him to.

Knowing him, he would have only been there to fight against the three Division commanders. Completely ignoring the World Noble, and leaving him to his own. However, that possibility could only remain that way; the damage had already been done, and they had luckily managed to negotiate for the captured World Noble's return.

However, that small piece of news nearly turned the entire world over its head. They were already surprised about the assult on the Judicial Island. However, going as far as to kidnap a World Noble had taken it to a completely new level.

Consequently, it also made a lot of aspiring pirates even bolder than they were before. They immediately wasted no time causing havoc at any island that they had managed to land on. There were numerous requests for back up coming from all four blues, Paradise, and not suprisingly, The New World. The Marines were working full-time trying to quell the sudden upsurge.

It went even as far as to making Kong consider having a World Wide Draft, just to have additional personell to boost their forces, and to have on standby.

He shelved that idea for a later time, there was too much happening for him to have spare time to go into the details of it.

Another headache that was currently rampaging on the mind of the Fleet Admiral, was the sudden prominense of Gangster Families. They were everywhere from North Blue to the West Blue, which had the most Families involved.

North Blue only had the Donquixote Family, and they weren't doing too much to give the Marine's a headache, but that didn't stop Vice-Admiral Tsuru from continuing to pursue them. Also, they were currently infested with war, and it was just simply a fragile part of the Four Blues for them to even touch.

Also, it didn't help that the one place that Pirates had a knack to invade was Sabaody Archipelgo. The Archipelgo was already in disarray before, but now it was in total chaos as the number of pirates wanting to go to the New World surged. He immediately sent Vice-Admiral Borusalino to handle that matter. As for Vice-Admiral Sakazuki, he remained in critical condition after his fight with the 2nd Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, Kozuki Oden. It was clear that he wouldn't be making any prominent moves for the meantime until he made a full recovery.

Vice-Admiral Kuzan had been sent to South Blue to handle some trivial affairs concerning to particular kingdoms. Normally, the Marines refrained from intervening in wars between allied nations, but this one needed their intervention as they had started raiding their supplies of Heavenly Gold, this hampering their annual tribute to the World Government. The World Government didn't like to play with their money, especially at this point of time.

Garp was left to continue chasing Roger around the New World. It wasn't as if anything had changed since then, but it was worthy to note that he was destroying any pirate groups that he had encountered while doing so, and sending them to Headquarters by Rear-Admiral, or Liutenant Colonel.

All in all, it was very busy for all the Marines, and things weren't going to slow down any time in the future. However, a certain piece of news was soon going to add more stress to the already overwhelmed Fleet-Admiral.

A Marine Soldier burst in with a message. Judging from the urgency in the man's voice. Something major had happened or just happened .

"Fleet-Admiral Kong! Kaido is on the move! He just invaded an Marine Base within the New World! Sources say that he is nearby another Marine Base as well!"

Kong immediately slammed his fist down on the table, breaking it once more. He was frustrated, after all, this was the last thing that he needed after all the paperwork that he had went through.

After a minute of quick thinking, he immediately sat back down on his seat before asking for a transponder snail. It was immediately handed over to him, and he dialed up a World Government number before waiting for the other end of the line to pick up.

"What is it, Fleet-Admiral? I believe that you have plenty of work to do," Saint Warcury inquired.

"Kaido is acting up out there in the New World, I'm asking for permission to deploy Admiral Sengoku to catch him," Kong immediately replied.

On the other end of the line, the Five Elders immediately started debating over the topic.

Mariejois was still under reconstruction, and they knew that withdrawing the Admiral from the city would only spark more protests from the World Nobles. Eventually, the majority took precedent over the minority. They ended up having to agree that quelling the World Nobles anger was far more important than dealing with a brat like Kaido.

"That is something that we cannot afford to do at the moment. However, looking into the severity of the matter, We will give you permission to send Admiral Zephyr in the scene. Also, we are going to have to think about adding another Admiral Position within the Marines in the future," Warcury stated.

It was then that they hung up the call. Leaving the Marine Soldier who was in the office with the Fleet Admiral in silence. Kong could only sigh tiredly before dialing Admiral Zephyr's number on the transponder snail. He partially understood the Five Elder's predicament, and he appreciated the fact that they would be putting more consideration in the future for another opening position. It was just that he felt that the timing shouldn't have been this inconvinient.

Zephyr picked up, and immediately obeyed the orders given to him. After that, kong dismissed the Marine soldier and promptly got back to his paper work. There was still much to do, and he had accomplished so little.
