70.03% The Salvatore Saga, Part Four: My new Life / Chapter 180: 20. City Of Stars.

Chương 180: 20. City Of Stars.

It was time to take action, and we were more than prepared. I donned my NSA jacket, with my badge at the ready.

Number ten gave me a heated look and said, "Oh baby, the things I would do to you when I see you dressed like that, all tough as a special agent."

I simply rolled my eyes. The Salvatores always tried to throw me off balance whenever I went on a mission or took the lead.

Wulfe and Magnum had already geared up, and several armed vehicles awaited us. We were providing assistance and expertise, leaving the federal police and NSA to handle the situation. The press had caught wind of our involvement, as I had dropped a few hints, and representatives from various news agencies had gathered around us.

Instead of being at our base, we were stationed at one of the federal police facilities, where we would depart for our mission. We were acting as consultants, but I, as an NSA agent, was accompanied by Salvatores, Magnum, Wulfe, and around 80 to 100 of my team members who were ready to assist. Not everyone would be deployed immediately, as they arrived in different vehicles and would be deployed as needed. Additionally, there would be a need for manpower in the aftermath.

It was fascinating to see how many of my team members had already received offers from the federal and highway police to join their ranks. They would be provided with the necessary education and training, and there was talk of compensation as well. I didn't hold anyone back - if someone wanted to leave and work for them; they were free to do so.

Wulfe walked beside me and said, "It won't be long until I get that jacket and badge too, my unicorn. You see, Salvatores too."

I replied, "Jealous much? We have to finish this task first, then deal with the aftermath. I can guarantee that you will be busy for a while, so it's not happening yet. Besides, I'll be sniping as soon as possible, so you won't see much of me, even if you become an agent. My guess is you'll move back to the States. I'm not sure where I'll go first. We have targets here too, and Dexter and Murdock have the states under control. I might have to go to Europe at some point, just to make sure everything checks out there too."

Wulfe was curious but didn't have much to say. We were just waiting for the go-ahead to get in the cars and start the operation. I felt nervous, but this was a massive operation and I wasn't in charge, so it was understandable. I was pumped with adrenaline, but I had to wait for orders from others instead of giving them myself. It was hard for me, but doable. At least, I hoped so.

Magnum approached Wulfe, and they seemed to discuss something, probably the future and what it would entail when the press started to swarm around us. It would be a wonderful opportunity for them to advance our cause, and tell our story, and Magnum was the perfect choice to be our spokesperson. It might give us a significant boost, and my sniping skills would allow me some free time, not constantly answering interviews. Now others were taking care of that for me.

Soon, it was time to get in the cars and prepare to save everyone. There would be a lot of people around, and I had to act as an NSA agent. There was no time for me to grab my pack and be done with it, but it was my job once again. Wulfe and Magnum would ensure that my pack was taken care of, and they might need some medical check-ups or even brief hospitalization, but everything was arranged. We had suitable places for them too. It would take time for them to recover, but with the press focusing on them, they wouldn't even miss me as I went on my tour. Wulfe and Magnum would also be busy, as the spotlight would shine on them.

I was sitting in the car, listening to updates through my earpiece about the agents who were already on site. They were securing the place and its surroundings.

Jarod had suggested using Dr. Sorenson's brain damage against him as the best way to catch him. Since he had experienced it at a young age and had displayed violent tendencies even before the brain damage, it seemed like a logical approach. We had a few surgeons and psychiatric doctors who confirmed that the brain damage had not significantly affected his intelligence or behavior. If anything, it had slightly reduced his violent tendencies, almost like a curative effect.

They had evidence that he was fully aware of his actions. Nowadays, it is rare to be declared insane, as most conditions are considered aspects of one's personality rather than illnesses. Being a sociopath or psychopath no longer granted you a free pass to a mental facility, but it did reflect a lack of remorse and morals to society.

I focused on the mission rather than my own desire for blood after this was over. As the car stopped, I prepared to deploy. I jumped out and walked alongside my handlers, who represented the division for humans or terrorism, while I represented my own division.

It was my responsibility to ensure that every supernatural victim was processed and their statements were taken. I had Tina and Nina with me, along with a few other agents who would handle the statements while I gave the orders. I had my gun, an NSA-issued Glock, and I hoped my other equipment was nearby.

Ahead of us stood a large, old brick building. I hadn't gotten a good look at it since I had woken up in the forest, but it was definitely an unattractive, outdated structure. My guess was that it had once been a school or hospital that had fallen into disrepair, only to be purchased by people like Sorenson to turn it into their sinister hideouts.

The location was isolated, with little traffic, and he could easily deter visitors by claiming it was a facility for microbiological research. This meant it wasn't a good idea to enter without caution, as there could be dangerous substances present. I took a deep breath, maintaining a professional and focused expression as I prepared to assume the role of Special Agent Springcove.

We entered through the front door as about 30 agents stormed in, securing the guards and clearing the way for us. The sound of our footsteps echoed through the outdated and not-so-clean corridor with tile floors. Dr. Sorensen approached us, still wearing his old lab coat, which was open to reveal his cheap suit. He wasn't particularly muscular or masculine due to a hormonal imbalance. Though his expression showed irritation, he didn't appear scared. It was clear that he thought he could bribe the federal police officers who stood before him.

Then, my handlers stepped into his line of sight. "Dr. Sorensen, you are under arrest for charges including human trafficking, torture, sexual abuse, imprisonment, and more. We have numerous witnesses here," one of the officers stated in a clear, precise, and professional voice.

Dr. Sorensen, a blonde man, lisped, "You can't just barge in here! This is private property, and you have no evidence."

He seemed to be spitting out his words, trying to assert his status.

I stepped forward, allowing him to see me. His expression shifted to one of disbelief as he recognized me.

"You... I killed you. How? Why? What kind of freak are you?" he lisped in disbelief.

I spoke firmly, "Special Agent Mimi Springcove, NSA, Division of Supernatural Matters. We have discovered the location where you dumped bodies, and I have provided my statement to my colleagues. You are facing multiple charges of murder, torture, sexual abuse, and other supernatural crimes. These are federal charges, and since many of the victims are American or British, you will not have your court hearing here. Instead, you will be extradited to the United States, where you will be processed. Insanity plea will not be an option for you. We have taken that away."

Dr. Sorensen tried to speak, attempting to keep his voice steady. "I'm sorry. It was nothing personal. Purely business, as you were useless to me. I did mistreat you, but surely we can come to some kind of arrangement," he said.

The federal police representative approached him again, listing all the charges that would be brought against him. He would face some sentence here as well before being transferred to the United States.

Several agents were escorting the young women into waiting cars. They would be taken to a facility where they could receive the care they needed.

I instructed Tina and Nina, "You two, set up a station in one of the vans so we can gather initial statements. Then direct them to the appropriate care. The medics, who were Salvatores, will examine them. Make sure they go in the truck to be checked out."

I had managed to secure the Salvatores as our medical team so they could determine what treatments were necessary. I had provided them with a fast scanner, a portable one that was in one of the trucks.

The press was now arriving, though only a select few were allowed. They photographed the cages and the victims, who had been given blankets, as many of them were naked. I was busy directing my staff when I noticed several agents escorting Damon and Mariella. Mariella could barely stand, so I nudged the press to go take their photos and hear their stories. Mariella was clearly under the influence of drugs and her words were incoherent. Mimosa and Shadow walked behind them, not as heavily drugged, but with visible bruises.

A reporter approached Mimosa and asked, "Miss, can you tell us what you have been through?"

Mimosa replied weakly, "I was imprisoned in a cage, naked, and drugged. The guards used modified sex toys to violate me and they bruised me. They used my body for their own pleasure. There was no medical reason for any of this treatment. The person responsible wanted to use us as examples, as we were useless for his plans of using us as paid sex dolls."

Tina stepped between Mimosa and the press, saying, "That's enough. They need to be checked out before making any statements."

I could see Adam also talking to the press.

I had to move on to the other supernatural victims to get an idea of how many there were. Many of them were in terrible shape and it would take time to get them well enough to testify, but we had already obtained some statements. Three of my agents were raiding the filing room, finding files and plans detailing what had been done to each victim. The evidence was piling up and I knew this would require a lot of work before I could be free to continue my tour.

I had an entire division at my disposal, which meant I didn't have to do everything myself or be everywhere all the time. I delegated most of the tasks that I could, considering my responsibilities within my organization. Now that this was taken care of, I could finally go on my sniping tour. The pack members who hadn't been captured wouldn't likely be at work, but they would assist those who were captured in their recovery.

I stood there, leaning against the wall, arms crossed, ensuring that everything was being handled properly. The press was still conducting interviews with the victims or agents. My handlers had already given their statements to the press, as well as the federal police. Local press and a UN representative were also present, so many people were speaking to the press.

This whole situation was as public as it could get. It was so different from my past rescue missions, although I had been in much worse condition back then, with bombs inside me and other victims to rescue. This breeding facility was just one of many, and it wasn't very successful based on the records. Not many babies were born here, but those who were would be found, their origins revealed to their parents, and there might be some consequences for those involved, depending on whether they knew how the child was conceived.

Even though this place was less gruesome, there would still be consequences for many individuals, from the guards and scientists to the children and other victims. Not to mention those who were killed; their families would finally learn the truth about what happened to their loved ones. However, I wasn't sure if anyone would compensate them. It wasn't my responsibility this time, as we were only consultants here. The Brazilian government would have to handle the families of the deceased.

I was occasionally asked questions, but I mostly directed inquiries to either the federal police or my handlers, unless they were about supernatural victims. I had protocols to adhere to here, so I didn't have time to think on my feet like I normally would. However, there was a clear plan of action: who went where and what was to be done to them.

All the pack members were sent to the hospital, in the USA, to receive the care they needed. Since they had a lot of drugs, old scars, and unknown injuries, a private plane would transport them, along with the most affected supernatural individuals. They would soon be flying away.

Most of the Salvatores would return to the States once this circus was over, and their presence was no longer required. Magnum and Wulfe had the task of dealing with the guards and equipment that were discovered there. Wulfe also removed the spells that were placed in cages, which involved some magical aspects. I could see that he desired to go back to the States to assist the pack in healing, and I had no intention of stopping him. It would be beneficial for him to help and heal, perhaps even for his own well-being.

After seven hours, I was quite exhausted. The facility was nearly empty, with the Salvatores gone and no more victims, only guards and scientists remaining to be dealt with. I longed to return to the base or one of my safehouses and indulge in some blood. We had accomplished a great deal here, and I felt deserving of a serious euphoria. It was time to conclude this and head back to base. I had succeeded once again in saving my pack.

As we walked out of that place, tired but content, it marked the destruction of yet another terrible location. We had shown the federal police what these places looked like, and they were eager to uncover more. There were various reasons for this. Firstly, they wanted to rescue the victims, but they also had laws that allowed them to seize everything, including money, and use them as needed. This meant that a single large bank account belonging to the bad guys could fund an actual hospital for years. Additionally, the police now had our contact information, so they knew where to turn if they required further consultation. Now it was time for me to focus on myself, embark on that sniping tour, and unwind.
