Ash defeated the Phantom, aka Timmy, and got his second official Pokémon Contest Ribbon.
May's Skitty has also gotten a better handle at using her Blizzard attack, and Timmy had also been recognized by his mother, allowing him to continue his dream of participating in future Pokémon Contests.
Not only that, the day after leaving they left Verdanturf Town, Brock's Lotad also finally evolved into a Lombre, but now he was looking even more slow.
Brock was not usually one training his newer Pokémon's, but they still evolved relatively early compared to most people's Pokemon's. This is the power a good Pokémon Breeder can being to a Pokémon without them needing to do things other than their most basic training.
"Ash, it looks like there was a fire happening here!"
Plunging into the deep forests again, May found that the scene here was very different from the forests they had encountered before, even compared to more weirder ones.
There were large amounts of water on the ground, which should have been left by the thunderstorm that happened just a day ago. A large number of trees have collapsed, and many of them had deep scorch marks on their trunks.
"They must have been hit pretty hard by those lightnings to do this much damage; the wood is still quite hard." Ash casually broke off a thick branch from the fallen tree, "I'll keep this thing for Grovyle to deal with.'
That guy always looks like he's going through a phase, with that bitter branch in his mouth, but he's very reliable in battle, and his Bond Value and compatibility with Ash was astonishingly high.
The last time he personally trained his Grovyle, which was just a few days ago, Ash saw how much progress he had made under his Scizor. He can now cut things with a more fluid motion along with making his leaves harder to cut things with.
"Pika!"
"Lal!"
"Toge!"
Pikachu, who was on Ash's shoulder, just chilling, suddenly got alerted about something and jumped down from his shoulders. Ralts and Togetic, who had just snatched the branch from Ash's hand and were now playing with it, also stopped and looked anxiously in a certain direction.
"Everyone, come on!" Ash's body suddenly flashed with a bright blue light as he too noticed what was going on, and he quickly led his group to follow after where his Pikachu was running of to.
The group could clearly tell that the fallen trees here were all burned to their current satee by those bolts of lightning, but there was also a little Swablu stuck underneath one of these such trees, which seemed to be very injured.
This blue and white little bird, aka Swablu, was quite common around many parts of the Hoenn Region, and its evolved form was the famous "Dragon Traitor" Altaria. Ash also wanted to catch and train one of these Pokémon's as they were both good in Pokémon battles and good in Pokémon Contests, but he could never find one that was a good enough match for him and his ways.
This one was a special one, although he could tell it had a good enough talent, it was also one that had a decently low match with him.
"Come on, don't be afraid." May was now very familiar with such Pokémon's. She gently stepped forward to picked it up and applied some medicine that Brock gave her for it.
Ash and Brock both looked at her with a smile, she has made a lot of progress in her ways of being a Pokémon Trainer.
Back then, this girl couldn't even figure out what her Starter Pokémon was and what he could do. Even when she began her journey to go to Littleroot Town, she had used her bicycle to avoid the Pokémon as much as possible by using the local roads.
"Big Bro, was this one of the Pokémon's that got injured by the thunderstorm last night. Maybe it was hit by this falling tree when it was trying to fly away, its wings were most likely also injured here, and just maybe it was separated from its companion?" Max expressed his judgment, As and Brock both nodded to what Max said, it seemed that this was most likely the case for this poor Swablu.
Seeing that May has become such good friends with this Swablu, Ash smiled and said, "In this case, May, you can take her with you first. We will go out soon to find the rest of her companions."
"Really? That's great!" May immediately hugged the bandaged Swablu and laughed, "Don't worry, we will definitely find the rest of your companions."
The little guy looked very happy to be in May's arms.
This forest here was very big, which wasn't that surprising since they were all rather big, so Ash and his party also want to explore the forest and look for the rest of the companion of this injured Swablu.
But even when the light was getting darker and darker in the sky, they we were about to leave the forest but still they didn't see any traces of any other Swablus or Altarias. During the thunderstorm last night, they might have left the forest and flown elsewhere for their own safety.
At this time, they came to the side of a lake, which should have been the favorite habitat of Pokémon like these Swablus and Altarias. It was also a good camping spot for them, but it was still the same empty scene they saw before.
"Why is this happening!" May was very anxious to say the least, "Has everyone already left here?"
At this time, the Swablu had also recovered to some extent from its injuries and was now flying next to May. May looked at it and said, "Swablu, how are you doing? Do you want to come with me?"
She suddenly understood Ash's way of subduing some of his Pokémon's. They had become good friends along the way, even if it's for a very short time. If she really had to break away with her little new friend, May would really not want to part with her.
She really wanted to catch this Swablu and welcome her to become her new partner.
But just when the Swablu was about to agree to May's question, several new figures suddenly appeared on the lake.
They were the Swablu and Altaria tribe she belonged to. They actually flew back to look for their missing companion.
Seeing this, the Sawblu immediately flew to the side of its companions, turned to look at May and was ready to goodbye to her.
"Swablu!" May stretched out her hand, then put it down and said with a smile, "You have to take care of yourself, you got it!"
"Sis, are you okay?" Max ran up to Mays side and asked her carefully, "It took a lot of effort for you to become good friends with that!"
However, May nodded, "This is for the good of Swablu!"
Ash quickly pulled Max back over and scolded him not to interfere here, "You will understand in the future, some Pokémon Trainer definitely will not catch Pokémon's just based on their likeness for them."
Everything was based on the love of that specific Pokémon and their bond.
May said goodbye to Swablu, her eyes were full of tears, but they didn't fall down. She was still happy for Swablu.
Ash patted her shoulder and said, "Love, traveling is about constant encounters and constant separations. Isn't it great to just meet new things and experience them while they last?"
"Yes, it's great to be friends!" May looked at Ash and wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes, "I'm truly grateful to have meet you, Ash! I'm so grateful to my bicycle, it allowed me to meet you!"
May looked at his taller figure and kissed him under the sun while it was still gazing out into the horizon.
Ash smiled and hugged her waist to make sure they both remembered this moment well.
He then looked in the direction where all those Swablus and Altarias were leaving towards.
It was at a sunset like this one where he released his old Butterfree. He doesn't know if his Butterfree was doing well or not right now. He must have had many new Catterpie babies to take care of with his wife, that Pink Butterfree.
The encounter and separation with the Swablu made May feel a little more aware of the Pokémon's in her heart.
As the group of friends spent the night camping in this forest, they all thought about the life they have lived so far.
They were able to get out of this forest the very next day and were not too far from Petalburg City.
"Ash, have you decided which Pokémon to use to challenge my dad?" May seemed to see Ash more in a new light now, if that was even possible.
"Ralu Lalu!" The Ralts in Ash's arms held her own Pokémon food and ate it happily.
Ash gently patted the red horn on its head, "I promised Mr. Norman that I would take this little guy back to challenge his gym!"
"But brother, my dad is very strong, wouldn't it be too bad to use your Ralts?" Max looked at the "weak and innocence" in Ralts and worried, he really liked Ralts the most out of all of the Pokémon's he saw Ash use.
Unexpectedly, as soon as these words came out of his lips, the little girl suddenly became unhappy and waved her fist towrsa Max, showing that she was very powerful.
"Cor! Cor!" Corphish also waved his big pliers from the side, looking eager to have a battle.
Ash has been carrying the troublemaker with him all the time recently, and it seemed that he was about to evolve very soon, looking very restless.
His Bond Value has also reached 180/190, but it hasn't been improved since then. Ash's didn't know if he can complete their Bond Evolutions after he evolves. Of course, he will not insist on this too much. There will always be people who cannot get the full value of compatibility, even if they have a very very deep bond.
His Kingler was one of the best examples of this.
"RAWWW DOGGG NOWWWWW!"
Just when the group were packing their things up and were getting prepared to embark on their journey again, bunch of loud roars were coming from the other side of the forest they were in, and it sounded a little familiar to them, just as if they had heard it somewhere before.
With the burst of the leafage around them and bunch of dirt flying, the Pokémon that made the sound appeared in front of the gang.
"It's a Loudred!" May exclaimed with a look of realization.
When they were doing their things in Dewford Island before, Ash's Corphish had angered a Loudred for some time. If Ash hadn't calmed down its anger in time, the group would have been in trouble, not because they were weak, but because the damage that Loudred could have done to the surrounding area. May's Beautifly, who was still Silcoon at that time, had also gone missing for a little while.
Of course, this Loudred was not the same one they had met before as this one seemed to be much more violent, roaring and the group of people rush over without a giving a care.
"Cor! Cor corp!"
The ever restless Corphish, who was training with the rest, got up this time from his push up position and stood in front of Loudred, protecting Ash and his party behind him.
He truly was a knight in shining armor.
Ash's Dratini, who was next to him, glanced just sideways at it, glanced at the raging beast, and then lay down next to Ash again, not giving a damn about this random Pokémon.
"Corphish, use Crabhammer!" Ash immediately provided his support from the back. Corphish's eyes flashed with excitement, and his powerful shining pliers slammed into the ground before Loudred.
That huge force actually caused the ground to shake, and a big hole was opened on the mountain road like it was nothing to him.
"Thats so amazing!" May and Max also stood up and were shocked when they saw the scene in front of them. "To actually use a move like Crabhammer and to have the effect of an Earthquake!"
Loudred, who was still charging forward, lost his footing and fell to the ground. Of course, Ash will pursue a victory when he sees it in front of him, "Let's try the new attack Kingler taught you, use Razor Shell!"
This was a strong Water-type attack, especially when it came down to slicing things up. This was basically the signature attack of Samurott, one of the three Royal Starters of the Unova Region and their Royal Water-type Starter Pokémon. To use this sharp attack, one much have a hard shell or carapace to encase with a high concentration of pure Water-type energy.
Therefore, the only Pokémon that can use this mover proficiently were Cloyster, Kingler, Crawdaunt, and Samurott itself.
This was also the skill that Ash had his Kingler teach his Corporal recently when he teleported his Kingler back to him for some bonding time.
This move was especially good for Corphish now and his future self as a Crawdaunt, where he can combine it together to train and strengthen his giant pliers.
"Cor-Corphish!"
Corphish happily waved his big pliers excitedly, and water began to flow to it, forming a sharp looking water blade.
"LOUDDD!"
Loudred jumped up from the ground, roared again, and rushed towards Corphish as if he didn't see anything or fear that attack.
Brock and the other two were desperately covering their ears behind Ash, and Ash then used his Psychic to block the sound coming from Loudred to them.
The groups eyes were now fixed on the sharp looking attack on Corphish's pliers, with a sense of trepidation in their hearts.
Ash and his Corphish were now waiting for Loudred to approach their attack range. No matter how harsh the sound decibels were, they remained motionless in their stance. Finally, Loudred arrived at the most suitable distance for them to attack.
"Corphish!"
Corphish's big eyes shone with a bright light, and the water blade on his sides swung out violently. The blade flashed past, and the harsh noise stopped abruptly with a very noticeable sudden change.
Loudred was knocked out, losing his ability to fight and falling down in one hit.
"Loudred!"
At this time, most likely his Trainer arrived belatedly and worriedly. He hurriedly ran towards his injured Loudred to check just how injured he was, but found that Corphish's attack had only damaged him in his outer layer of fur and did not cause any serious damage to the main parts at all, so he breathed with a sigh of relief.
This guy was most definitely older than Ash and maybe a little older than Brock, "Thank you for helping me stop my Loudred from continuing on his rampage." He said with a deep bow.
"Anyways, hello, my name is Guy. Me and my Loudred here are traveling around various areas to gather our needed Gym Badges to participate in the Hoenn Region Ever Grande Conference." In other words, this was an opponent that Ash can actually relate to.
Hearing that Ash had already gotten 4 of his needed 8 Gym Badges, Guy began to admire him even more, "Thats amazing. We only got two Badges so far. It's really not easy to collect all those eight Gym Badges…"
"Thank you so much for calming him down now. This Loudred is my most important partner, he has been there for me every single time I needed him." Guy looked at his Loudred, who was snoring very loudly, with a look of pride on his face.
"But recently, for some unknown reason, he has become less and less obedient and sometimes gets violent for no apparent reasons, not only that, he is also much more energetic than I have ever seen him before. It was just like what you guys saw right now."
"Cor! Corphish!"
Corphish waved his big pliers again, just like before.
Max looked at him and said, "Corphish is also doing the same thing recently, but he still listens to Big Bro!"
Ash knelt down to pat his funny and happy looking Corphish on the head. They already had a strong bond and knew what was happening to the other, "I think your Loudred should be in the same as my Corphish is. It will soon evolve in its final form."
When some Pokémon are about to evolve, they will show unusual behaviors and personalities that they usually don't show. Experienced Trainers can use these to determine whether or not their Pokémon was about to evolve or to see if it was something else of significance m.
"Is he really going to evolve?" When Guy heard this, he immediately became very excited.
Corphish also blinked his eyes a few times, turned and walked towards the sleeping Loudred.
"What is he going to do?"
Guy was stunned for a moment, and then he saw that Ash's Corphish using claws Vice Grip's in his Loudred big and soft ears.
He still seemed to like the feel of pinching Loudreds whenever he had the chance.
"LOIDDD!"
Loudred immediately woke up from his sleep because of all ten akin he was feeling and immediately went into his riot mode again. The harsh noise scared May and the other three to quickly cover up their ears.
Guy became very nervous seeing his Loudred being this angry again, "Why is this happening now? What should we do now! Loudred, please calm down partner!"
However, it was now almost impossible for the furious Loudred to hear the voice of his Training at the moment. After he tried to run and to see it was of no avail, he looked at Ash and Corphish very angrily.
But he found that Ash was already standing opposite of him with his Corphish ready for another battle, "For Trainers like us, the best outcome to such a thing is to have a battle. A battle will more often than not calm a Pokémon on their angered state."
"What do you mean?" Guy looked at Ash with a new look of surprise. Was he really capable of commanding this battle now?
But after the words fell, he immediately realized something; wasn't it his fault as the Trainer that his Pokémon lost control so easily?
It was about to evolve, but as that Max kid said just now, Ash's Corphish was also about to evolve. It was also very irritable, but he was still very obedient to his Trainer. L
"Loudred, please hear my voice!" Guy began to call out to his Loudred very desperately, but his voice was completely covered up in the deafening noise that his Loudred was making.
However, the bond between a Trainer and Pokémon can really span throughout all of space and time. The sound between them does not ultimately have to rely on their voices, but from their hearts, where their shared bond was.
'Corphish, use Bubble Beam!'
Even in all this noise, Ash's orders were accurately conveyed to his Corphish's mind via Telepathy, and the Bubble Beam hit Loudred very accurately, knocking him away almost immediately.
The noise stopped suddenly, and Guy was now looking even more worried than before, "Loudred, are you okay buddy?"
"Lo, ud, read!" Loudred opened his eyes, but began to be able to accept his voice in a more calm state.
Seeing this, Guy suddenly became excited, "Okay, Loudred, use Stomp!"
Loudred roared and rushed over after hearing his Trainers command, stepping towards Corphish, but was blocked again by Corphish's pliers.
Ash's Corphish was much more physical powerful than himself. Guy calmed down and quickly tried to adopt to a new tactic.
"Loudred, use your Supersonic!"
However, at this very moment, both Corphish and Loudred were shining with the dazzling white light of evolution!
Loudred evolved into an Exploud, and jerk his appearance became even more and more terrifying, as if his whole body is filled with large blue subwoofers.
But the evolution of Corphish was still continuing when Explouds evolution ended, and his size was still growing until there was now his new signature five-pointed star on its head and the new height of 1.5 meters tall. It is no longer the cute crayfish it was before, and now his appearance was more sinister akin to his new type.
It evolved and got the secondary Dark-type, which made him became more ferocious, and thsi shows in his stronger and darker looking pliers. Not only that, he had also learned many new attacks.
"Crawdaunt, use Crunch!"
The battle still continued, Ash took the lead in launching an attack this time after evolution. At the moment, the two Pokémon were close at hand, and the dark and evil looking energy suddenly gathered into one place, forming a pair of terrifying fangs on the big pincers, biting Exploud's body fiercely.
An explosion occurred immediately, and Exploud lost his ability to fight, just like a few minutes ago.
Crawdaunt: 230/240
