I was lost but I noticed that Yumi was unconscious on the floor, one of the men had a baseball bat and I was sure that was what was responsible for that sound.
The men looked fairly surprised, it was clear that Jay was the leader of these misfits but Jay was a delinquent through and through.
He didn't flinch when he got expelled from school and I could remember the feeling I had felt months back when he beat me nearly to death.
Jay was a different kind of monster and I knew it wouldn't be in my best interest to fight him as I was not only outnumbered but these men looked like they were ready to kill anything in sight.
I took a deep breath, calming my thoughts in the process, I had a rough idea of who Minsuk was and I was going to give it my best imitation.
"What's the meaning of this?" I questioned in a commanding tone, walking towards Jay.
The other men didn't dare stand in my way but if I said my heart didn't wish to tear through my chest, I would be lying.
But I must be doing something right because even Jay looked uneasy with my presence.
"I'm just doing what we discussed, she's the only witness…" Jay pointed out, his cold eyes looking right at me.
"Witness?" I thought to myself and once again, this reminded me that I was in the body of a potential murderer.
"Something is strange…" Jay blurted looking right at me, there was no way he could see through my facade. Thankfully, I had watched enough shitty villain movies to know what to say in this situation.
"I don't care what is, no one touches this woman until I'm done with her, is that understood?" I said sternly but this only drew a chuckle from Jay.
I had never heard this sociopath laugh but it sent shivers down my spine, I momentarily froze because what was this pressure?
"You see… My boys want to have their fun with her, surely you wouldn't stop them, would you?" Jay said, I could hear them unbuckling their belts but something also told me that this was Jay testing me.
"If they wish to be killed by my hands, I would like to see them try…" I responded, the words were just rolling off my tongue like butter, each sentence forming effortlessly.
"Don't think he can protect you forever, Minsuk…" Jay said before leaving with his thugs, leaving Yumi on the damp floor.
I couldn't even begin to imagine what fate awaited her if I hadn't come to her aid.
I picked up Yumi, I didn't know if I would need to explain myself as to how I found her but that was the least of my problems.
I was just glad I could escape a confrontation with Jay but he implied that someone was protecting me.
It couldn't be my father, could it? Chae-won did freak out when she found out who my father was despite being all over me seconds ago.
Maybe placing an anonymous call to the appropriate channel was for the best and that's exactly what I did.
An ambulance was here in no time and took her away but not before securing her.
I knew which hospital they were taking her to but I didn't know if it was a good idea to meet her there as it seemed I had a hand in what happened to her.
"Fucking hell, I need some rest," I thought to myself and my utmost surprise, my driver picked me up the moment my business was concluded.
"They knew…" I realized they had been following me secretly to allow me to conduct my business without raising attention. I thought I had fooled them but they were the ones that had me fooled.
"Would that be all for today, Master Minsuk?" My driver asked me as I cracked a weak smile.
"Fuck yes," I didn't care anymore, they can think whatever they wanted but they had no way of proving that I wasn't Minsuk.
There was no reason to be cautious around them because I could already anticipate the mental exhaustion that same with such an act.
It didn't take long for us to reach home but I saw a car parked at the front, one I hadn't seen that morning.
"It looks like your mom has arrived, Master Minsuk," The driver said but his tone was anything but enthusiastic.
However, I didn't think much of this because this should be like any normal family, shouldn't it?
I exited the car and began to walk towards the mansion, they didn't say anything but I could sense the tension in the air.
"Hm…" I didn't know what to make of this atmosphere but if she tried something stupid, lord knows I would punch her in the throat.
I walked right into my room, ignoring everything and everyone including this so-called mother of mine.
If she was sensible, she should not only know I had started school and would probably be exhausted but it wasn't up to five minutes before a knock banged against my door.
If I had a gun, I would have opened fire and just sprayed it everywhere because I had not only found that perfect spot on my bed, but I was in that trance-like state before sleep set in.
"Master Minsuk, your mother has requested your presence," This was the voice of my butler.
I knew there was nothing I would do, I had to play the role of a son and that's the only reason I went to see but nothing could have prepared me for what I saw next.
