Chương 147: She was kidnapped

The day was finally here. I couldn't believe it. Aurelia and Lydia were being presented as each other's perfect match. Of all the ridiculous things this world could throw at us, this had to be the most absurd. I could hardly keep a straight face just thinking about it.

"Stand still, Lise!" the old woman barked, jabbing me in the ribs with her bony finger. She was the head tailor of the demon realm's elite guard, known for her strictness and complete lack of humor. "This is a formal event, and you will look presentable if it kills you."

"Yes, ma'am," I muttered, rolling my eyes. The old bat was relentless, fussing over every crease and seam as if her life depended on it. She shoved me into a suit that felt about three sizes too small, the fabric stiff and scratchy against my skin.

"How the hell am I supposed to breathe in this thing?" I complained, trying to stretch my arms. The suit was so tight I felt like I was being suffocated by a very angry octopus.
