Chương 9: Difference

"Hohoho, Mikoto-sama sure has grown wouldn't you agree Ikari-sama"

An old man complimented, the same senior veteran who greeted Mikoto and his friends at the hotel's entrance.

"Fufu~ Even I was surprised, He has grown so much... However"

Delightful as I was my gaze fell upon the bruise on her upper arm.

The difference in physical strength between us should only be at a small margin, but seeing as Mikotos' strength grew as he got more accustomed to our sparring was both fascinating and scary at the same time.

'It was fun since it has been a while since the last time I got some good exercise, though I got too into it that I knocked my dear son out'

With a regretful tone as she reminisces about what just happened 40 minutes ago.

=== Forty Minutes Ago ===

Surprised by my son's request I did not agree or deny his request, but led him to the private gym area for the VIPs' on the top floor.

"Take off your coat, before agreeing to any of this I want to see what you can do sweetie" Even though Ikaro spoke in an endearing tone the seriousness in her voice was very much present, obvious that she was taking this request from her son seriously.

Acknowledging his mothers' words, Mikoto starts to prepare for what is to come.

Looking in her direction, he saw her remove almost all of her top from her coat and dress shirt until she was only wearing a black sports bra with a red outline.

Even at this moment, I feel no sexual arousal rising from me as I see my mother technically strip in front of me. This may be because the original was used to seeing his mother work out at home when he still used to live together with them.

Astonished, I couldn't help but admire my mother's well-trained body, her muscles were toned with the right muscles at the right place as it would only show if she ever flexed them. Her scarred body from knife cuts and lacerations to gunshot wounds did not lessen her beauty in any way, in fact, it even brought more appeal to her as she looked like a veteran warrior in medieval times.

"It is not like I dislike it; you were staring at me so intensely my dear son, do remember what we are here for~~" she called with a teasing tone as my eyes had been analyzing her body for more than 5 minutes.

Knowing that she got my attention she turned around, picked up some heavy pieces of equipment, and went inside the boxing ring, as she did what I saw on her back, though faint, there was an outline of something I knew I may have seen before.

Lost in my thoughts about the familiar outline, a familiar alarm was heard as multiple transparent panels popped out one after the other right in front of me.

[ New variable found, no information is available ]

[ Error is found in the data from the hosts' memory, this error may be due to the hosts' presence in this world ]

[ Familiar bloodline detected ]

[ Further analysis is needed, we shall update the host of the tracked error when the analysis is complete ]

Blinking at the information from the panels I try to gather myself at this new information.

One, the 'Notifications data' comes from the memories of my past self who has watched and read all this otaku culture stuff as it scans the surroundings in order to notify me of occurring plots that are within my 'interest'.

Two, this error must be because something outside of the plot from one of the stories is found, so it is updating its data bank in order to accommodate these missing links.

In other words, this world of anime, manga, and novels has Alternate Universe characteristics. Well, that's to be expected since in order to mash all these stories together is one hell of a world I got myself transmigrated into.

'I should just wait for the update'

Having forgotten what he was trying to remember earlier, he put it for later, for now, he followed after his mother as he also entered the ring.

"What took you?" Ikari asked as she saw her son just stand there looking at the empty space for a few minutes.

"It was nothing, so what are we going to do? spar?"

Still a little worried, she just put it off for now and finished her stretches.

"You have been a delinquent for more than 2 years now, and we only had a spar one time, that was during the early days of this phase of yours"

"I remember, you beat the crap out of me during that time"

.

In the early years of the original's delinquency, her mother called for him to meet out of worry.

He was a loner and always had a book before this phase in his life, so his mother wanted to know if he would be able to take care of himself, also not to get hurt as this was her greatest fear... Finding out her son was badly hurt, knowing she could have done something to prevent it from happening.

She beat the crap out of him, from suplex to throws, to counters and holds as well as punches and kicks, he experienced all of it from her mother without mercy for 12 hours straight.

So you could say that the original, after such a beating had awakened the ability to follow his instinct to prevent himself from getting hurt from all kinds of situations he may be put in, and that is how he fought and that is how he got stronger.

Through trial and error, he developed a street fighting style that overpowers his enemies thanks to his blessed physique while predicting his opponent's movement as he either dodged or countered each one that went after him, though this was all because of his innate fighting instincts, The talent of Akaou Mikoto.

After the spar with his mother, everything became so easy for him, It was like his body was awakened from its slumber as he was reacting better, his strength got stronger and his stamina greatly improved.

It was like his already athletic body was greatly upgraded after the spar.

Even after experiencing something like that, a beat down by his own mother, he didn't hate her, in fact, he respected her even more and he was very grateful, as that beat down was the turning point for him to be someone better as he was able to find what he was really good at other than just to study and read books.

.

"Then get ready, let us see how better you have become" Ikari stated, preparing her posture for an onslaught to her son.

With quick footwork, she approached him before he could even ready his stance. Reaching within proximity she delivered a straight punch with her right fist, which was her non-dominant hand.

Flustered by her sudden approach Mikoto didn't panic and tried to redirect the punch with the forearm of his left arm, this caused an opening on his right side.

Seeing this opening, Ikari reduced the momentum on her punch as she let him redirect it, using this chance after the contact she clenched her right fist and delivered a blow to Mikotos' gut.

"Urghh!!"

"You're leaving openings Sweetie"

Grunting at the pain Mikoto tried to distance himself from his mother... yes tried.

Sensing her sons' plan to distance himself; she used her amazing footwork to reduce the gap between them. Within a few steps, she pushed out her leg as she tried to hook on his leg to trip him.

Without thinking much, Mikoto followed the alarm bells ringing in his head as his instincts were screaming to jump, following his instinct he jumped lightly as Ikari missed her chance to trip him.

Still within air time, Mikoto kicked forward in an awkward position to push his mother away, as the kick connected but not before she crossed her arms in front of her chest and was pushed a few steps backward.

Composing himself as he put up his guard as another assault was coming, Ikari with a quick rush, suddenly squatted down. Using her left leg as a pivot to sweep her son with her right leg.

Using his quick thinking as he had just dodged a similar move, Mikoto jumped lightly again to dodge the sweep kick. Feeling safe, he lowered his guard not realizing that his mother was not finished with her rotation.

Using the rotation, she stood on her right leg, used the force of the rotation she extended her left leg and delivered a spinning back kick right to his chest, knocking me down on the canvas of the boxing ring.

"*Cough* *Cough*"

"You let your guard down, never lower your guard until your opponent either stopped moving or surrendered, but even then, never let your guard down, I have told you this before" Ikari lectured of her sons mistake.

Lying on the canvas I try to familiarize myself with what just happened.

'Mom used 2 different things with the same purpose of tripping me down, Knowing that I was relaxed because of the successful prevention of the first tripping, she made a different move with the same purpose, due to my inexperience I was too relaxed after the dodge as she followed it up with a spinning back kick to knock me down'

A realization came to me as I was lying down on the canvas.

'I may have inherited all of the originals' memories but it looks like I didn't inherit any of his natural fighting instincts, the instincts that flared up like alarm bells earlier were probably this body's natural instinct and muscle memory to prevent any harm to come upon it'

'All the fights I had so far were me trying to copy moves I saw in my previous life, I never really fought using the natural fighting skills that the original used'

Realizing that the current him only had memories of fighting experience and not his actual own, so you could say that his actual fighting experience could only be numbered to 2 fights so far.

Coming to this realization he did a kip up to stand up as he tried to analyze all the moves that he saw from her mother.

Analyzing them, reconstructing the moves as they replayed on his head, over and over again so that it would fit him perfectly. Opening his eyes as it lands on his mother.

.

Patiently, Ikari waited for his son to gather his thoughts as she was also contemplating something.

'He got weaker, It's like he returned from a blank canvas'

Ikari was confused as to how her son could possibly forget most of what she thought of him during their first time sparring, It was like she was facing her son from back then, a totally inexperienced fighter.

She had been keeping tabs on her son since he started this phase of delinquency, she was too worried for his well-being. During those 2 years, he was in more scuffles than she could count so this inexperienced person she was seeing shouldn't be possible.

.

Seeing that her son was now ready to start again; she was about to start with her footwork again to shorten their distance but was halted when her son was the first one to reach her.

'The footwork, it's similar, but different at the same time' Ikari thought as she was shocked seeing her son use a footwork that she had never thought him.

Mikoto delivered a fast jab with his left arm... which Ikari easily deflected with her right forearm, realizing this pattern as her son was getting ready to swing his right arm for a right hook.

Not being able to dodge in time she prepared to guard it with her left arm with the support of her right hand, followed by curling up her body a little in order to receive the blow from the hook.

Mikoto however stopped mid-way through his swing, Stepped back one step, and delivered a side kick on Ikaris' upper arm of her left hand.

The Impact from the kick made her grunt as she floated for a second, as she tried to regain her balance, she landed on her right leg and swiftly delivered a high kick right on his chin.

This rattled Mikotos' brain as he gradually lost consciousness, not before he saw his mother with a shocked expression on her face. Likely delivering the high kick to the chin was out of instinct since she received quite a damage from the kick on her upper arm.

.

Bringing herself out of her shock she went to her son to check on him, all the while contemplating what just happened.

'Looks like I was wrong, he must have deliberately acted like an inexperienced fighter to confuse me, used the misdirection on our first clash about not leaving openings, and deliberately baited me with the right hook'

Astonished by her son's plan, she couldn't help but be proud of his progress. Kneeling beside her son, she gently combed his wet hair with her fingers.

"Looks like he does have great skills in acting~~, Making me fall for such a trap, Fufufu~~~~, I should make good with the request he asked of me and call Kindaichi later"

===== Flashback End =====

Seeing as the car that was taking her unconscious son home was gone she swiftly dialed on her phone to call someone.

/H-Hello?, What can I do for you Ikari-san/

Toshirou Kindaichi answered the call with quite a flustered tone; not expecting to get a call from one of their sponsors this late.

"Kindaichi? I have a small favor" Ikari said with a gleeful smile as she wanted to boast about her son.

'I do wonder how they would react when they saw a total novice like my son act for the first time~~'
