Chương 2: 2. Explanation
"Sending me to the past?"
"Yeah, to the time before Jin Woo becomes Shadow Monarch."
"Wow, cool. But wait! Why do you need me? Sung Jin Woo himself should be able to solve everything with his power."
"That's the problem. 300 years isn't a short time. Rewinding that many years back in the past needs a lot of power. It will need almost all of my & Jin Woo's power just to send you. Jin Woo & I will need years to recover all of our power. We want you to protect Earth while we recover because we don't know if we'll recover before the enemies arrive. They will retain their memories before we rewind the time, after all. So they can come faster."
"Ah, so it's like that. It's just like the case with the Cup of Reincarnation, huh? It rewinded time, but beings like Monarchs & Rulers could keep their memories."
"You're right, and rewinding 300 years has a heavy price. Even the Cup of Reincarnation could only rewind for 10 years. It could be used many times to rewind 10 years, but it eventually broke. Now we want to rewind for 300 years and we don't have a tool like the Cup of Reincarnation."
"What?! Then how will you rewind the time if you don't have a tool like the Cup of Reincarnation? And what's the price?"
"It will cost Jin Woo's memory and power as Shadow Monarch. He won't lose them, but they'll get sealed for a few years before returning slowly. Jin Woo has made preparation for it though, so don't worry. His memory will return when Gates starts appearing and he'll start recovering his power too by then because magic starts filling Earth's atmosphere. That's why we need you to protect Earth from Monarchs & other invaders until Jin Woo recovers. My power will also decline although not as bad as Jin Woo because we will mainly use his power. But it will still take years for me to recover and go to Earth from my world."
"So basically I need to do anything to protect Earth until then?"
"Yeah, so how is it?"
"Well, I want to live again, even if it's dangerous. And a man like me just can't say no to getting great power."
"You have my thanks. Now let's cross to our world, or should I say our universe because you are from Earth in a different universe."
The scenery suddenly changes into a rather dark throne room. The old man sits on the big throne and the young soul sees what he only saw on his phone before, the shadow army. He recognizes a few figures like Igris, but he doesn't see Beru. He doesn't dare to ask though.
"Does he accept it, Odin?"
"Yeah, I won't return with him if he doesn't. I told him the plan, and he accepted after knowing the risk."
The young man hears a voice from behind, so he turns around. He sees a man wearing black armor walking into the throne room while dragging a massive corpse.
"Well kid, I don't know if you recognize him, but that is Sung Jin Woo. The thing he drags is the corpse of the Absolute Being that created Rulers and Monarchs. We need that corpse as the medium to rewind the time. The Absolute Being was the one that created the Cup of Reincarnation, so he has the power of time. His corpse should have the remains of that power even after he died for eons. Jin Woo was searching for that corpse, so he couldn't meet you with me before."
"So you use that corpse to replace the Cup of Reincarnation? Also, by Odin, do you happen to be Odin from Norse mythology?"
"That's me, yeah."
"I thought you died in Ragnarok."
"Boy, that story is nothing but a narration to show our great power. We were the ones spreading it and I asked my men to make it dramatic. I made it so I died there because I was retiring as the King of Asgard. Now I am just an old God roaming the universes. Then I happened to meet Jin Woo."
"O-oh, so the mythology was made by you Gods yourselves."
"Basically yeah. Anyway, about the Absolute Being's corpse, yeah, we'll use it to replace the Cup of Reincarnation. But because it's not a real tool, we need to use a lot of power."
"Anyway kid, have you read the story about me that we spread in your world?"
"Yes, sir! I've read the novel and manhwa."
"Good, that will help you in your mission. But you need to know that things won't go like that story. Not only will I lose my memory & power for years, but the Monarchs will revive and surely will try to take over the Earth again. The Rulers have died too after helping me and only one of them is still alive now. They'll also revive, so they'll help us to hold back the Monarch. But don't depend too much on it and always be careful of the Monarchs."
"About your power, we will give you some abilities of your choice. But you can't take it all at once, you need to grow and adapt to it slowly. You will get a system similar to what Jin Woo used, the one made by the Architect to integrate Shadow Monarch's power into Jin Woo's body. But the system you receive will be different because you won't receive power from any Godly beings."
"The system I made will absorb some of the power of magical beings you defeated, just like how game characters gained XP. It's actually the same as me, except that I got my XP from Ashborn while you get your XP from magical beings you kill."
"Well, aside from us being weakened so we can't send you our power, we will also get weakened even more if we give you our power like Ashborn."
"Ooh, that's alright, it's still very cool. But will that really be enough?"
"What do you mean?"
"I mean Sir Jin Woo has a lot of soldiers to fight the Monarchs' army. However, I will be alone until he recovers and we don't know how long it will take. No matter how strong I become, I am still just 1 person against millions."
"You are right, but we don't have other options now. Sending one soul while rewinding time to the past is already hard, so sending more people is impossible. Our only hope is the Rulers' army. They will hold the Monarchs' army as best as they can while you handle the ones that slip past them."
"Hmm, if that's the case, then we need to make a plan so I won't be protecting the Earth alone. I actually have an idea. This is one of the few fantasies I always imagined if I lived in your world. I don't know if it's possible though."
"What is it? Tell us and we'll see if it's possible."
The young soul starts telling them his idea to see if it can be done. Odin & Jin Woo are quite surprised by this idea.
"It's possible to do that although we need to have some security measures."
"That's easy to do. We can just give him some skills he needs for this."
"Thank you for approving this idea. By the way, those powerful beings will still have their memories after we rewind the time just like the Monarchs, right?"
"Correct. But their worlds are very far, so it will take a very long time for them to reach Earth. The closest threats are still the Monarchs."
"Then what about the previous Shadow Monarch? Will he revive? And what about the Architect of the system? I'm afraid he will go to help the Monarchs."
"It's difficult to explain, but Ashborn can't revive even if we rewind the time because he has become me. About the Architect, we have made arrangements for him."
"Alright then."
They discuss some more things and the details of their plan. The 2 Godly beings never thought that the young man they chose could give them some unexpected ideas. Most of his ideas come from stories he read and his imagination.
"Now, let's start the procedure if you're ready. Not all of your ideas are possible, but your out-of-the-box thinking can be very helpful for our plan. So you can improve our plan later based on your judgment of the situation."
