If it had been any other Technique, Alistar wouldn't have even been freed from the pain after he fainted or even given the liberty to faint since they were either crafted by humans or were from ruins that had been made by other races so they would have flaws.
Their flaws were, being active even after its user faints since the person using it could be in danger this was deemed as a means of safety even though it was a major flaw.
The other flaw was most Techniques whether found in ruins or made by people all needed their users to be conscious when they were being used so even if the person was about to faint the Technique wouldn't let that happen no matter what.
To Ascenders, it posed no problems and could even be considered as boons instead of flaws but to Unawakened who were either forced to use the Technique or thought they were the chosen ones it made their deaths set in stone.
But unlike those Techniques, the ones crafted by The Honored One would be one hundred percent perfect and free of such massive flaws —or boons depending on how someone viewed it.
So in short, Alistar was really lucky that it was a Technique handcrafted by The Honored One and not some garbage found in ruins.
Even though he wasn't in danger of dying by the Technique, his life was pretty much over since the Green-scaled Vine Komodo would definitely eat him when it got a chance.
Back to square one or maybe something even worse, Alistar could be seen lying on the floor in an extremely miserable state.
His black hair was disheveled with some strands dyed red by the puddle of blood beneath him, his eyes were rolled to the back of his head leaving only his bloodshot sclera in the open, he had foam pouring out his slightly open mouth, his injuries were still bleeding profusely showing no signs of stopping, and beneath him there was a mixture of his blood and sweat.
Although the room smelled disgusting the Green-scaled Vine Komodo didn't mind in the slightest. Hell, it even loved the smell just like any monster would.
The smell was intoxicating. It felt like a man who had been drinking mineral water got a whiff of champagne, the man would instinctively know that the champagne would taste better than mineral water and that was the case of the Green-scaled Vine Komodo.
It had been eating the birds and rodents who leeched off of it but now, it could finally feast on a Human and the smell of Alistar's blood provoked its urge to consume every piece of him even more.
With Alistar's Technique coming undone when he lost consciousness, the vines of the Green-scaled Vine Komodo that had been frozen in time finally moved.
Crash!!
They had easily pierced through the concrete floor that Alistar lay when it first attacked, sending chunks of rocks raining everywhere.
Unmoving even when the rocks collided with him, Alistar kept staring at the space in front of him with rolled-up bloodshot eyes.
But did the Green-scaled Vine Komodo care that its attack had missed? Of course not, as long as Alistar didn't move a muscle it had all the time in the world to slowly rip him apart limb from limb while savoring the taste of his blood and flesh.
And even if Alistar did wake up which was unlikely, the Green-scaled Vine Komodo was sure that Alistar wouldn't be able to do shit to it and could only watch as he gets eaten alive.
Excited at the thought of eating a Human for the first time in its life, the Green-scaled Vine Komodo unhesitatingly retracted its vines before launching them at Alistar akin to homing missiles.
Whoosh!!
With each vine tearing through the air as they made their way towards the passed-out Alistar, all seemed to gleam like metallic rods when rays of sunlight fell upon them from what remained of the windows.
Puchi... Puchi... Puchi...
Reaching Alistar's location in under five seconds, all vines found their way into Alistar's body before emerging from the other side.
Greedily absorbing the blood that stained its vines, the Green-scaled Vine Komodo's eyes seemed to glow even brighter as the taste of human blood assaulted every fiber of its being.
"Rooooooaaaaarrrrr!!!"
It bellowed in pure ecstasy as it stared at Alistar's skewered form with glowing crimson eyes and acidic saliva dripping from its gaping jaws.
"Roooooooooooaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!"
Not wanting to forget the heavenly taste of Alistar's blood, the Green-scaled Vine Komodo let out a frenzied roar as a reddish aura seemed to be emitted from its body.
Frenzied, the Green-scaled Vine Komodo threw Alistar's battered body upwards before directing all its vines to stab into Alistar's guts and chest.
Puchi!! Puchi!! Puchi!! Puchi!! Puchi!! Puchi!!
Puchi!! Puchi!! Puchi!! Puchi!! Puchi!! Puchi!!
And just as those wooden skewers implanted themselves in him they immediately retracted before repeating the same process, leaving him hanging in the air while turning his insides into mush.
Drip... Drip... Drip... Drip...
With each ferocious stab, blood and tiny pieces of Alistar's organs kept raining down on the floor —bathing the Green-scaled Vine Komodo in its crimson color.
As for Alistar who was on the receiving end of such treatment, he could only move the way the vines wanted him to since he was still unconscious.
Although he was still alive, he was barely hanging on due to his enhanced physique which made him stronger than ordinary humans and the Komodo's vines failing to pierce his heart.
Increasing the pace of its stab, the Green-scaled Vine Komodo had its deadly maw wide open as it enjoined the taste of Alistar's blood sliding down its throat.
But it wasn't enough, it wanted flesh and just the thoughts of Alistar's blood tasting this heavenly made it wonder how delicious his flesh would taste.
Puchi!!
Running its purple tongue through its razor-sharp teeth, the Green-scaled Vine Komodo stabbed its vine into Alistar's shoulder —leaving him to dangle like a fish from a line.
Currently, he was a mess. His black hair was stuck on his face with a few having a red hue due to dry blood, his belly and chest were filled with countless holes that bled profusely even his intestines weren't spared as most of them were turned to mush, and the white t-shirt that he wore had been turned into a bloody canvas that looked beautiful yet horrifying.
But worst of all, he was still alive. Although not able to feel pain due to him being unconscious, Alistar wasn't even given the chance to experience death despite all this suffering.
An agony that even the most cold-blooded murderer would dread had befallen him. He was just an ordinary guy forced to get stronger after being chosen against his will.
For as long as he could remember, he had lived a life of pure agony and suffering. His past life was no different and even this life was showing signs of being the same. But maybe this time things could be different as he might finally die and get the eternal peace he deserved.
Ka-thump!
With one final beat of his heart, a tear streaked down Alistar's cheek as if he was wallowing in his misery despite being unconscious he weakly muttered.
"Why... me?"
