Chương 51: Chapter 51 Discussion With Tai Yin
Xuanyuan had thought about travelling for a while, even as a Rank 2 Gu Master. He had in his possession both a Rank 3 Heavenly Essence Treasure Lotus and a Rank 2 Four Flavors Liquor Worm, not to mention an unused Rank 2 Red Steel Relic Gu.
The moment his cultivation reached the Upper Stage Rank 2, he would use the Relic Gu and instantly become a Peak Rank 2 Gu Master. With the Four Flavors Liquor Worm, Xuanyuan wouldn't have to worry about his cultivation in the short term at all, while the Heavenly Essence Treasure Lotus allowed him to accumulate primeval essence stones even while he nurtured and refined Gu.
Xuanyuan wanted to reach the zenith of the World, becoming a Venerable in the Shadow Path. If he spent all of his time within the walls of the Ancient Soul Sect, and didn't temper himself in the outside world, he fall behind the likes of Feng Jiu Ge, Lin Jian Xing, or even other pseudo Venerables like Light Emperor and Duke Long.
Xuanyuan knew that he had to wait until Fate Gu was destroyed before he attempted to become Venerable, and didn't know how far ahead in the timeline he currently was.
He had heard a rumor that a beautiful and kind-hearted fairy belonging to the Spirit Affinity House had a daughter with a former Demonic Path Gu Immortal, causing him to raise his eyebrows wondering if the daughter in question was Feng Jin Huang.
The rumor started a few months ago, and Elder Luo had informed him that several Gu Immortals sent over gifts to congratulate the birth of this young girl. Xuanyuan suspected that this girl was more than likely Feng Jin Huang, meaning that he had a rough estimate on how far ahead in the future he was.
'Fang Yuan was probably a couple years older than Feng Jin Huang. It means that there is still more than a decade before Fang Yuan undergoes his Talent Awakening Ceremony. If I can enter a Blessed Land for a year in the real world, then I might be able to decrease the distance between us before he reincarnates back into his younger body...'.
Xuanyuan wasn't exactly sure how old Fang Yuan was in his previous life, but knew he was at least fifty years old by the time he became a Rank 8 Gu Immortal. He was definitely older due to how much time passed within his immortal aperture, however, at least fifty years had passed since he was born, and the moment he became a Rank 8 Gu Immortal.
Xuanyuan knew that a Pseudo Venerable strength was the standard before Fate Gu was destroyed. He knew that while the Dream Path was immature and undeveloped, there was a certain Gu Master who had obtained the blessing of Fate Gu and was destined to become a Dream Path Gu Immortal.
Having her on his side would allow him to access Dream Realms, increasing his attainment dramatically. Xuanyuan didn't have access to the Shadow Sect's Food Path inheritance so for the time being, there was no way to devour Souls to increase his attainment either.
If he himself could participate in the Hu Immortal Blessed Land invasion, he would be able to meet Feng Jin Huang, and potentially Fang Yuan as well.
Dang Hun Mountain was a tempting existence, but without a method of extracting it, there was nothing else of particular value within Hu Immortal Blessed Land.
"At any rate, I need more people for my missions. Four Rank 2 Gu Masters isn't enough for an undertaking of this magnitude. Long Xi and Yu Zhong Er might be willing, but Tai Yang and Tai Yin would be preferable, considering they are almost Rank 3 Gu Masters...".
It was why Xuanyuan had come to the Water Soul Hall. He could see numerous Gu Masters adorned in Ancient Soul Sect robes, all of which had blue highlights added to them, indicating their relationship with the Water Soul Hall.
The Water Soul Hall managed all of the Sect's Spirit Springs, and to some degree, communicated with Gu Immortals to procure more using Spring Egg Gu. They were responsible for the protection, management, betterment, and creation of Spirit Springs, as well as the collection of primeval essence stones they produced
Tai Yang and Tai Yin were born into wealth. Even if the amount of primeval essence stones that Elder Tai himself received was only a single percent, it would still be in the hundreds of thousands of primeval essence stones per year
It was an almost disgusting amount of wealth.
Xuanyuan received a few curious glances from passerby's his disciple uniform obviously bearing distinct yellow highlights, indicating his relationship with the Earth Soul Hall. The young man continued walking through the hollow mountain, until he eventually came to a large residence, similar in size to Elder Luo's.
There were two Rank 3 guards placed out the front and Xuanyuan smiled at them, giving them both a short bow.
"Senior Brother. Senior Sister. My name is Xuanyuan. I am here to meet with Tai Yin and Tai Yang. They should be expecting me".
The two guards shared a look for a moment, before one of them gave Xuanyuan a once over, entering the gate obviously to inform the Tai siblings that a tall dark haired young man was here to see them.
Xuanyuan didn't even have to wait five minutes before the guard returned nodding gesturing for him to enter.
"Tai Yang and Tai Yin are waiting for you in the guest hall. Follow the white jade stones to the left through the garden. It will lead you straight to them".
Xuanyuan thanked the Senior Brother and Senior Sister entering the residence and following their instructions. He could see that Elder Tai's residence possessed numerous Water Path Gu materials inside, even a large pond filled with numerous koi and lotus flowers.
He raised an eyebrow, feeling the presence of a Spirit Spring within the residence before his Nine Eyes Shadow Gu warned him of an approaching object.
Xuanyuan immediately summoned his Shadow Stinger Gu, dipping his hand into his shadow and pulling out his mortal sword. A flash of sparks slid off his blade, forcing him back several steps as he grinned at the young girl opposite him.
"Hello Little Yin, if this is how you treat guests, I'd hate to see how you treat your enemies".
Tai Yin gritted her teeth, using her Rank 1 Longsword Gu to flick Xuanyuan's blade from his hands. The young girl was obviously still bitter from her defeat at Xuanyuan's hands.
There was no other Gu used in the bout, but eventually Xuanyuan's mortal blade shattered, causing Tai Yin to grunt, dismissing her own Longsword Gu.
The girl gave her opponent a once over letting out a small tsk at the metal shards scattered in the garden.
"What are you doing here Xuanyuan? Come to gloat have you?".
Xuanyuan shook his head, causing her frown to deepen.
"I heard what you said during the fight you had with my brother. And the conversation you two had beforehand. You dare to lecture me on the Sword Path, even with such a fragile and brittle sword in your hands?".
"Not at all Tai Yin. I care not whether the sword is in your hands or in your heart. With all due respect, I just wanted to win, and poking at your pride was the best way to do so. Even though you are a Gu Master, there must be others who see you as just a woman. The amount of trust you have in your sword is your greatest strength, but also a point of weakness".
Xuanyuan didn't hide his tactics from Tai Yin, causing her frown to ease, seeing his honesty.
She did admit... she got a little heated during the fight. Perhaps more than she originally thought she did. Xuanyuan didn't particular excel in offense, defense or even movement, but his words cut deeper than any sword.
It made her re-evaluate herself, forcing her to separate her pride and her sword from each other, even if the former depended on the latter.
Tai Yin just lifted her head, staring directly at Xuanyuan.
"Whatever you are here for then Xuanyuan? I'm guessing that since you wanted to speak to both Yang and I, it must involve the both of us".
Xuanyuan nodded, walking up to her. The girl just eyed him carefully, before the two walked side by side to the guest hall.
"I have a proposition for the both of you. You and Tai Yang are both Peak Rank 2 Gu Masters, both with powerful Gu and fighting experience. You are also under a little bit of scrutiny, considering that Elder Tai purchased so many Relic Gu for you both".
Tai Yin glared at Xuanyuan, causing him to raise his hands avoiding her stare.
"It's a touchy subject, but the two of you can no longer depend on Elder Tai as much as you used to. You will both be going on missions soon, and while I'm sure that as members of the Water Soul Hall, you will no doubt have quite rewarding missions relating to the Spring Springs available to you, I am here with an alternative option".
"And what would that be exactly?", she asked.
"... A journey through several resource points, stopping at Dream Garden City at the halfway point. Other than the resources required for our acquisition missions, anything that we find will belong to us, and can be traded or exchanged in Dream Garden City, or upon our return to Earth Soul City".
Tai Yin's glare vanished and her eyes widened, realizing the scope of Xuanyuan's trip.
"But that could take half a year!".
Xuanyuan nodded.
"Five to six months possibly. We have already sorted out how we will transport all of our collected materials, and transport... has mostly been sorted. I require more personnel in addition to the three I currently have".
Tai Yin raised an eyebrow.
"And who are these three other Gu Masters?".
"Yu Xiaolong, Jia Yufei and Lu Guo. I am also currently discussing with other possible members, but the four of us have already started planning for the missions".
Tai Yin examined Xuanyuan's expression for a moment, humming while tapping her chin.
After the fight between her brother and Xuanyuan, her father had informed them both of two things. The first being that he would no longer be able to supply them with primeval essence stones or Gu, lest the Sect Leader got involved and removed him as Elder of the Water Soul Hall. No-one in their family wanted this to happen, so Tai Yin and Tai Yang could only accept the Sect Master's decision.
The second thing, was that Xuanyuan was more than likely going to be the next Abyssal Child. The Abyssal Child was a Gu Immortal seed, that had as much access to the Sect as the Sect Leader did. Almost anything that didn't involve Gu Immortals could be requested by the Abyssal Child, including rare and powerful Gu contained with the Sect Treasury.
Their father had also informed them of the... unique inheritance within the Ancient Soul Sect, causing them both nearly pass out in shock.
"When your father was younger... he was allowed to go through a special inheritance within the Sect's possession. While our Sect was not created by a Venerable like the Heavenly Lotus Sect, we do have in our possession a complete inheritance from a Rank 9 Gu Immortal".
Tai Yang gulped, while Tai Yin just felt her mouth drop.
"Which... Which Rank 9 Gu Immortal father?", Tai Yang asked.
Tai Bai just let out a sigh, shaking his head.
"It is an inheritance belonging to the first ever Demonic Venerable. Limitless Demonic Venerable".
Their father had told them that he received a Master level attainment in the Rule Path the moment he completed the inheritance. He had also received numerous Rank 5 Gu, including Seventy Two Gu, Wet Gu, and even a precious Big Gu.
Big Gu could essentially make things bigger. And it was the Core Gu in his mortal killer move.
Hearing that Xuanyuan had been backed by so many Gu Immortals, Elder Tai had implicitly warned them not to go against Xuanyuan. In fact, if they got the chance, they should try and be friends with him, if only to have a relationship with a potential Gu Immortal.
Tai Yin gazed at Xuanyuan before asking him another question.
"Why do you want my brother and I? Don't you think that we would be the last people that would want to join your expedition?".
Xuanyuan blinking, pausing before shaking his head.
"Not particularly. You two are strong Gu Masters. Strong willed and strong in spirit. I don't think that a single bout would instantly make us mortal enemies. If anything, I respect the two of you more after our fight, even though Tai Yang tried to burn me alive".
"I think that the two of you think the same of me. You both underestimated me, and I don't think you would make the same mistake twice. We both understand the others capabilities, and considering our similar age, there won't be any formalities between us. I also think that the two of you both want to make your father proud, but don't want to live in his shadow".
Tai Yin blinked at Xuanyuan's words, looking him dead in the eye, watching him smile at her reaction.
"If you stay in the Water Soul Hall, you'll always be treated differently by the other disciples, afraid to offend you because of your father, or trying to curry favor with you because of your father. I don't care about that".
"I want you Tai Yin, because you are strong".
