Evan cleared his throat, "Back to our conversation from before," he said. "What could your dad be hiding about your mom?"
I shrugged. "I don't know. I just have a feeling that it's about my mom."
We stayed quiet after that. Reese came minutes later to give us our food. She placed them down in front of us. "Here you guys go." She was still smiling widely. "I'll leave you to eat but if you need anything, don't be afraid to ask!"
Evan and I both muttered a 'thank you' before she walked away.
"How much money did you steal from that man?" I asked quietly as I picked up some of my salad with my fork.
"Like a hundred dollars," he said nonchalantly and my eyes widened. I nearly choked on my food and I started coughing.
"A hundred!" I said a little too loud after I calmed myself. "Evan, we only needed like thirty!"
He only shrugged. "Saves the hassle of having to do it again next time."
"Whatever," I grumbled.
