The waves roared angrily, and the torrential rain obscured the moonlight. Thick clouds hung low, casting the sea into almost complete darkness. The only reliable sense was hearing.
"Zzrrtt——"
A flash of pure blue light darted through the dark waves, accompanied by the sound of water crashing down as Logan dodged another wave.
Sparks of electricity occasionally flickered over his body before quickly dissipating. Relying solely on his sense of hearing, Logan often found the waves were upon him before he could react. Only by amplifying his reactions with Lightning Release could he evade in time. As for using Lightning Release to stimulate his cells, Logan had become adept at instantaneous activation.
Logan sensed the change in the air as the water's momentum grew heavier. He glanced behind him, and distant lights from the shore flickered like fireflies. In his sight, a massive wave, about ten meters high, was rising and looming over him.
Despite its apparent slowness, gravity pulled the water down, and the giant wave crashed with a thunderous roar. Logan stepped back swiftly, the sea chasing him like a beast hunting its prey. The black-and-white surf licked at his feet, and the sky above was a pitch-black abyss as the wave enveloped him.
At the last moment before being submerged, Logan leaped into the air, twisted his body, and took out a kunai from behind.
The once faint electrical currents around his body intensified, encircling the hand holding the kunai. The magnetic force within this confined space grew stronger.
With a swift motion, Logan hurled the kunai. For a second, it was as if a lamp had been turned on in the dark sea.
An orange-yellow flower seemed to bloom before him. The hurled kunai transformed into light, illuminating the murky seawater, the rolling waves, the tumultuous clouds, and even a tiny fish that leaped out of the foam. In the distance, the blurred horizon was revealed, as if a hand had momentarily lifted the veil of darkness. But after just a second, everything returned to darkness.
The light source was turned off, or in other words, the light source it produced disappeared at an unimaginable speed.
Tick, tock, tock…
Raindrops dripped from his ears onto the sea surface. At this time, Logan was still in the mid-air, adjusting his stance as he landed gracefully on the water. The heavy rain continued, but the monstrous wave from moments before had disappeared.
Finally, the dispersed wave broke into countless droplets and returned to the sea.
The top of his head felt like a large basin of water had been poured down on him, then Logan shook his head and exhaled, "Electromagnetic kunai, finally almost done..."
Facing the giant wave earlier, Logan had used an improved version of the Railgun. The original Railgun involved launching a coin using electromagnetic fields. However, after understanding the principles, he understands that objects pushed out by the force of electromagnetic fields are not limited to coins.
During his previous battle with Orochimaru's clone, he had hastily thrown a kunai with the Railgun technique, leading to new insights. Logan became interested in it and started his research in this way.
During the three years of training outside, Logan started working on it after the Forbidden Technique, and his hard work finally paid off. Although his posture, angle, and strength had changed, he still managed to succeed.
The improved "Electromagnetic Kunai" not only packed more power but also extended its effective range. Previously, due to the limited material, coins would vaporize at fifty meters. Now, after being replaced with kunai, although it didn't increase much, it still extended to more than a hundred meters, turning it into a trump card that can be widely used in battle.
During his stay in Salted Fish Village, Logan also gained something by going to the sea to train at night. Balancing on water while practicing his techniques and dealing with dangerous weather had paid off. Such grueling conditions would be unbearable for most, but Logan's relentless effort had brought significant improvement.
"The next thing is this."
The sea continued to churn, still unsettled from the earlier disturbance. Logan stood on the water, swaying with the waves.
With single-minded focus, Logan placed his hand on the hilt of his sword, his body lowering slightly.
His fingers twitched, revealing a sliver of the sword's bright, sharp edge from its sheath. Lightning followed immediately.
A flash of white light appeared abruptly, an otherworldly presence that seemed out of place, and then it vanished like a mirage.
The brilliance of the moment was so dazzling that it left one bewildered, the illusory white light streaking in both directions with explosive force.
It was incredibly fast, so swift that it seemed as if nothing had happened. The Clear Spring Sword was already back in its sheath before one could comprehend what happened.
Logan's chest heaved slightly as he wiped the sweat mixed with rain from his forehead.
Before him, the semi-circular cut opened up, with the rainwater filling the vacuum created.
The turbulent sea tilted slightly toward the unnatural cut, but Logan calmly adjusted his footing. Along the semi-circular vacuum, a narrow stream of seawater, several meters long, rushed through as if a perfectly shaped wind tunnel had been created at that cut. The surrounding seawater quickly covered the space left behind.
'Silver Light' is a short sword skill that explodes in an instant, however, Logan has not mastered it yet. So what he is performing now is equivalent to a weakened version of Silver Light. Because the stance is similar, for the convenience of naming, he called the current one 'Quick Draw Slash'.
"Haah, I'm so tired." Logan twisted his arms and stretched his body on the spot. The Electromagnetic Kunai was manageable, but the Quick Draw Slash's demands on his muscles in that brief moment were extremely taxing, the astonishing load was no less than fighting a high-intensity battle.
As the night continued to deepen, Logan took a leisurely stroll in the already familiar offshore sea, while continuously training his Chakra. Occasionally, he treated the rolling waves as imaginary enemies, dispersing them repeatedly with flashes of white or orange light. By the time the rain began to let up and sunlight broke through, it was already the next day.
…
"Uncle, uncle!"
The rapid knocking on the poorly maintained door outside seemed as though it might break it down.
Standing outside Mai hesitated after her enthusiastic knocking received no response. She then raised her small hand to knock again.
Bang!
The door was suddenly flung open, revealing Logan with disheveled hair.
"Uncle..." Seeing the person she was looking for appeared, Mai's voice weakened, because the man in front of her, who was several heads taller than her, seemed very angry.
"What do you want so early in the morning!" Logan's eyes were still a little bloodshot, and he shouted unhappily. His bad mood is understandable, after all, he had been diligently training all night.
"But, but, it's not too early..." Mai couldn't help but lowered her head. Her previously cheerful demeanor crumbled, and she mumbled angrily.
Logan took advantage of the situation and looked outside. It was so bright that he couldn't help but squint. There was no trace of the heavy rain last night on the ground. The warm sea breeze was blowing again, and the sunlight was glaring, so Logan quickly retreated back inside.
"Whether it's early or not isn't the point. Why are you here looking for me?" Logan glared.
Mai fiddled with the hem of her clothes, as her momentum was completely suppressed by Logan, "Didn't you promise to give me candy..."
