After that, she hung up the phone. The grin on her face made her resemble the Cheshire cat.

When she looked up from her phone, she was startled to see Eddison leaning against the doorframe. He was smiling faintly, indicating that he had heard the entire conversation. 

Caroline felt so embarrassed and was close to breaking down into tears. 

Eventually, she put her phone away and walked towards him, and sputtered out an explanation, "I was just kidding! Don't take anything I said too seriously, please..." 

"Were you really? You know, if you want more handbags, I can buy them for you. We can also go on the trip you just mentioned as well..." Eddison said seriously.

"No, no, that won't be necessary. I was just lying! I really don't want any of those things!" Caroline interjected.
