It was hard not to stare as Bel watched the girl place the food on the table. The girl took a step back and bent her head when she saw Bel looking at her. She wasn't dressed like the maids who had attended to her. Her clothes didn't look expensive either, just a free-flowing long-sleeved dress, and she was barefoot.
The girl was pretty almost angelic, and Bel had caught a glimpse of her eyes. They were the blue of the sea. Her hair was dirty blonde and long, all the way to her waist. Who was she?
"Thank you," Bel said again as she walked towards the table.
The girl nodded and smiled a little but kept her head down, not saying a word. Was she mute? Bel didn't think so, but she found it odd that the girl hadn't spoken a single word all this time.
Bel finally tore her gaze from the girl, who was squirming under Bel's scrutiny. She looked nervous and very shy. Bel sat down and stared at the table. It smelled delicious. She could smell curry soup.
