Chương 38: Chapter 38 - Romance, Responsibilities & Heartbreaks III

Knock! Knock!

"Weasley! Wake up!"

Knock! Knock!

The morning light simmered the room in colors as the dawn arrived. Little birds chirped outside, some sitting at the window frame. But the serene morning was ruined by the heavy knocks on the door.

Ron woke up, finding Hermione already gone. He sighed, having hoped to wake up beside the beautiful nerd.

"Bloody hell, who the hell died now?" Ron grunted and got off the bed. He quickly wore his clothes and opened the door, finding none other than Alastor Moody standing there. Initially, he had woken up with an erection, but it vanished as soon as he saw the 'Constant Vigilance' face of the man.

Moody stepped into the room without an invitation, his magical staff thumping against the wooden flooring. "You are summoned to the Ministry by the new Minister."

"Wh—"

"Minister Bones," Moody answered before Ron could question. "Gather all your things and report downstairs."

Looks grumpier than usual. Ron noticed, not very shocked by it, though. The man was an interim Minister and was likely to become the permanent Minister if not for Voldemort's escape.

"Give me a minute," Ron said, walking over to the mirror to fix his hair and tuck his clothes properly. He didn't have any luggage, to begin with, so he went to the main hall soon after. Everyone, from Harry to Tonks, had gathered there by then.

Moody didn't explain anything and stepped into the chimney connected to the Floo Network. "Step inside, boy."

Ron glanced at Harry for answers, only to receive a confused shrug from him. So Ron looked at Sirius for some clues.

"It's for your safety, Ron," Sirius said and patted Ron's shoulder, pushing him towards the chimney.

My safety? Am I not safe here? Ron wondered and did as asked, stepping up beside Moody.

Woosh!

The forever serious Auror threw the powder and vanished with Ron right away.

Confused during the whole time, Ron soon arrived at the Ministry with Moody. Seeing the grumpy, limping man striding through, everyone made way for them. There were a few journalists as well, who didn't fail to take his pictures immediately.

Without stopping, Moody took him into an elevator and took him all the way to Level 1. They then entered a lobby with offices of the Minister's support staff on both sides, doors sprawling at an equal distance between them.

Finally, they reached the end of the lobby, where a lone door stood. But the people standing in front of the door made Ron frown.

"Mum? Dad?"

"Ron!" Molly cried and rushed up to Ron, taking him in her arms. Her eyes filled with dread, and her hands shook as they hugged him.

"What happened?" Ron questioned, worried.

Moody growled, his magical eye swiveling to fix on each member of the group in turn. "You are the prime target for the Dark Lord now, every last one of you Weasleys. The Burrow? It's not safe, not by a long shot. The Minister's made the call—we're relocating you to a secret safe house."

Ron sighed and looked at the door to the Minister's office. "I want to speak with Minister Bones."

"Expected that much," Moody said and pointed his staff towards the door, "Go in, she's waiting."

Ron nodded and gave reassuring looks to his parents before walking into the Minister's office. The first thing he felt as he stepped inside was magic—filled to the brim in that high-ceiling spacious room. Countless protective charms, runes, and whatnots.

But Ron kept staring at the lone, large, wooden desk at the middle edge of the room. Filled to the brim with various papers, some quills writing on their own, while a few papers shredded on their own. There were no portraits inside either, no way anyone could spy inside.

"Minister Bones." Ron greeted the woman busy at work. He noticed the crease on her forehead, her eyes focused.

Amelia Bones finally looked up and removed the single monocle from her eye. Her face had gained a little flesh, her pregnancy in the late stage. Yet, she appeared radiant and firm as ever.

Who knew even stoic women could be this beautiful? Ron thought and walked over to the desk.

Amelia stood up after maintaining silent eye contact with Ron. Using her hands, she pushed her body off the seat, revealing her belly bloated with life brewing inside. Her clothes were simple and loose, a bigger, black cloak covering everything. Her head was hatless, and her hair short.

Amelia walked around the table and stood close to Ron, noticing his gaze fixated on her belly. "He's well and growing,"

"He?" Ron exclaimed.

Amelia nodded firmly, stepping closer to him and gently taking his hand. She made him caress her belly and feel the life inside. "Last visit to Saint Mungo's confirmed it."

Ron breathed rapidly, glancing up at Amelia's face. Being a little taller than her, and having grown quite broad-shouldered and muscular, he felt different about the current predicament. A need to protect—protect the woman and the life in her.

It angered him and annoyed him. Amelia had told him of her plan to deliver the baby in the States. But clearly, Voldemort's escape had thrown her back into serious work. He felt more restless since she'd be Voldemort's prime target for being the new Minister—especially someone honest and just like her.

"Don't worry, I've given a few believable excuses. They won't delve deeper into this matter anymore." Amelia reassured Ron, not pushing his hand away from caressing her belly.

"No." Ron tiredly shook his head. "I'm not worried about that."

She notices the worry and anger in Ron's eyes. Her years of experience helpful to read emotions. However, this was one of the rare moments when she also revealed her own emotions.

Ron wasn't just 'someone' anymore, after all. He held a much closer, intimate place in her life now. Her worry for him was as genuine as his.

She grasped Ron's hand in hers and clenched it tight in her palm. "Ron, one of us has to stay safe, stay alive. If something happens to me, you—"

"I'll find him before he can make a move," Ron cut her off and declared. "Just trust me. I know what I'm doing, and I know I can find him."

Ron seemed far older and more mature all of a sudden. To a point, Amelia almost failed to realize the difference between their ages. Her lips curved into a very faint smile that she hid as soon as it appeared. "How?"

With a genuine, big smile, Ron stepped forward, feeling absolutely confident in himself. As if the world belonged to him. Removing his palm from her belly, he rubbed it to her side and touched her waist, a normally nerve-racking move for him.

But at that moment, Ron felt nothing but conviction and strength.

"How? Well, I've been quite the lucky man…" Ron declared, shocking even Amelia, as he kissed her mature, thin lips, devoid of lipstick or makeup yet perfectly charming.

Nothing deep or wet, but a gesture of his care. He maintained the velvety touch on her lips until he felt her hands rest on his shoulders, reciprocating the confused feelings and relationship they both shared.

Finally, when their lips parted ways, it was Ron faintly blushing, while Amelia remained calm and collected as ever. However, only she knew the thumps in her chest.

"I had to accept this job. Denying would have meant giving up being the Minister forever," Amelia explained. "I truly didn't want this to happen."

Ron stepped away from her to make it less awkward. "I don't blame you. The Ministry has let down wizarding Britain so many times that it's just another Monday now."

"You should go to the safe house."

"No, I should find the Dark Lord quickly," Ron retorted. "Just give me the permission to use the Unforgivable Curses. Fake Moody already taught them to us."

Amelia sighed and returned to her Minister's seat. She had already seen him use Crucio plenty of times, so she didn't doubt Ron. But at the end of the day, she didn't feel like putting such a burden on his shoulders.

"He's going to come after me and Harry anyway," Ron added. "He'll come after my family too… and you. Let me do this one more time, Minister Bones."

For a very long moment, there was silence. She looked at the ceiling as if thinking deeply. Her hand caresses her belly, worrying for him and the life inside.

"I hope you won't make me regret this decision," she finally spoke and wrote on a piece of paper. "The special permission shall remain a secret until the Dark Lord is brought down. You must not engage in battles alone, and always inform me or Moody of any clues leading directly to the Dark Lord."

"Understood," Ron agreed right away.

"You must not fail your OWLs either, and be regular in your classes."

Ron felt awkward at those words, finding it strange hearing it from the woman he just kissed. But he still nodded firmly and agreed to each of her terms.

"Very well then, you may leave." She signed the special permission and stored it in her table drawer.

Ron turned around and walked to the door to leave.

"Be safe!"

He smiled and simply gave her a thumbs-up before opening the door and leaving.

He faced his family outside and calmed them down one after another. For now, only they were to be taken to the safe house.

While he had a mission to accomplish.

####

Quickly after leaving the Ministry, Ron arrived at the Diagon Alley to buy some essential supplies for his mission. The only good thing for now was that Voldemort didn't have many stooges left outside. Most from the war were still in Azkaban, and those who were free got sent to Azkaban after attacking him in that forest.

He purchased potions for healing wounds, bones, infections, illnesses and also some enhancement potions for eyesight, sense of smell, and hearing. After that, he went to Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions to buy a bag with an expansion charm.

He also wanted to buy an invisibility cloak. Not the expensive one, but the simpler one that had a simple disillusionment charm on it.

"Pick a bag you want to have the expansion charm on, dear." Madam Malkin greeted him with warmth and sent him upstairs to find a bag he liked. She was willing to charm it for him right away. Fame did make a lot of things easier, he reckoned.

Something small enough to hide? Ron wondered what to pick and reached the upper floor of the shop. It was filled with racks, clothes hanging on them. On the sides were various wooden racks that held bags, shoes, and any sort of clothes one could imagine, or simply rolls of cloth.

Thud!

Hm? Ron frowned, noticing a strange sound from up ahead, behind a large clothing rack, holding tall pieces of robes, acting like a curtain. Someone's here?

Paranoid of an attack, Ron crouched a bit, making no sound. He took out his wand at the same time and pointed it ahead.

"Umph… Stop it…" Someone whispered, but clearly not to Ron.

A girl? Ron's brows shot up as he reached the robes. Without alerting anyone, he spread one or two robes to make a small slit across, to view what was on the other side.

"Ooh… Don't. Not here~" The female voice rejected. But her tone was obviously not fully rejecting it; she was naughty and playful with a hint of expectations.

What?! Ron's heart froze, an angry frown emerging on his face. He stopped crouching and stood up fully but still made no noise.

"Ah…"

A girl had her skirt bunched up around her hips, her soaked panties down around her ankles, her lithe body leaning forward as her plump ass was raised high. There was a boy standing behind her, easing into her wet entrance from behind, whispering into her ears.

I knew it… I fucking knew it!

Ron breathed heavily and took a few steps back to seem as if he had just arrived. Then, he coughed as loud as he could. "Who's there?!"

"Ah~" The girl yelped.

Faces flushed red, the couple walked out from the curtain of robes awkwardly, shame on their faces. However, while the boy smiled at the sight of Ron, the girl froze as if she saw a ghost.

"Hey Ron, been a while."

Ron merely nodded, glaring at the girl. "I know… Been a while, Cedric… and Cho."
