At that moment, they were still on the road leaving Hellrand, the ride something quite magical. First, there were the creatures. Seriously, what were those?! 

"Clip-Clop-ROOOAAARRR!!" They'd alternate between horse noises and dragon roars, creating an eerie background noise as soothing as nails on chalk. 

Then, there was the road itself. The thing actually… glowed? No, that wasn't it, either. There seemed to be creatures swimming in it. Wait, were those actually souls?!

'They're not actually alive. Those are all fakes!' 

Gray could sense it. There was something strange about them. Whenever someone passed above them, they'd congregate, giving light, yet they never gave any feedback.
