Chương 33: 33. Foolish People Are Blessed?

Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA)

"Nonsense! Nonsense! Nonsense!" Chairman Picquery was furious. In front of her, Tina clasped her hands and lowered her head. Her greatest fear was this unsmiling chairwoman, who was incapable of keeping a straight face, let alone getting angry.

"Goldstein, I just transferred you back to the Auror office. Don't make me send you back again!" Chairman Picquery suppressed his anger. "What do you want to tell me? A wizard living in a No-Maj society for eighteen years?!"

Tina wouldn't be foolish enough to simply respond with a "yes" at this moment. She could only remain silent.

"We have just captured Grindelwald and resolved the crisis of the war between No-Majs and wizards due to the destruction of the Statute of Secrecy," Picquery said earnestly. "We have just sent away the investigation team of the International Federation of Wizards. All the crises and scandals have just come to an end. What we need now is stability, stability. If another scandal arises at this time involving two wizard children living in a No-Maj society... do you understand what that means?"

'You will be removed from your position,' Tina couldn't help but curse silently.

"Your boss, Mr. Graves from the Twelve Auror Family, has still not been found. We have lost the Director of the Department of Magical Security, the Director of the Legal Enforcement Department, and an exceptional Auror. The Magical Congress can no longer tolerate any more occurrences. Do you understand?" President Picquery held her forehead and said softly.

"But... what should Mr. Barebone do? Pretend not to notice?" Tina asked.

President Picquery raised her head and pondered for a moment. "Any wizard without a registration record is considered an illegal immigrant and will be expelled according to the laws of the Magical Congress."

Tina was taken aback. She looked at Picquery's indifferent expression and felt disbelief. "Your Excellency, President, he... he is just a child! He has never attended a school or received systematic magical education."

"An unstable, unregulated wizard! He should be expelled as soon as possible, right?" President Picquery looked at her.

Based on Tina's previous demeanor, she would have argued with reason, but she had to admit that after six months of setbacks in her career and a few days of adventures with Newt and Jacob, Tina had changed a lot.

She left in silence, but this was not her acceptance.

...

Majoris Orphanage, second floor.

Aurelius, having finished his training as a summoner, planned to take a rest.

Summoners also needed to practice. Improving their cultivation level allowed for unlocking more requirements for the use of summoner skills and increased the number of runes they could attach to themselves. This was a waste of time. The quality of electric lights these days was mediocre, so he would practice summoning before resting each day and focus on his magic studies during the day.

Whoosh——

Aurelius turned around to see Queenie Goldstein.

"Good evening, Queenie, but it seems you've come at the wrong time. I had already planned to take a rest," Aurelius said, feeling a little strange, but not showing it.

He didn't think this attractive girl was here for anything romantic.

"You need to leave," Queenie said, pulling on her slippery skirt.

"Why?" Aurelius asked.

"The Magical Congress refuses to compensate you. Picquery, the President of the Magical Congress, believes that your existence and experiences are scandalous to the MACUSA," Queenie explained, looking at Aurelius with a complicated expression. As always, she couldn't see any memories in his brain.

Queenie didn't fully believe what Aurelius had said during the day. None of it explained why she saw chaos and darkness in his head or why he was immune to her talent. And how did he know she was a natural Legilimens?

Without answers to these questions, Queenie wouldn't believe Aurelius.

But she came anyway and didn't tell her sister.

She had told Jacob and Newt that there were no secrets between them. She lied, but in reality, only Tina had no secrets in front of her.

Able to read people's hearts, Queenie had more secrets than she had imagined.

"Oh?" Aurelius said with a sarcastic smile. "What do they want to do? Erase my memory? Make me and others believe I've always lived in the magic world. Or... is it easier to just kill me? Erase my existence as a scandal?"

"No, no, no," Queenie panicked, waving her hands and stroking her long hair. "President Picquery thinks you're a smuggled wizard and plans to deport you according to the laws of the MACUSA."

"Oh? The President's mind must be as small as her heart," Aurelius sneered.

Idiot!

Deportation? What the hell is this?

Whether they tamper with his memory or kill him directly, it would be a one-and-done solution. But they chose deportation?

He couldn't understand. Did the President of the Magical Congress think like this?

If it were Aurelius, he would send someone to offer condolences as soon as possible, along with compensation and many perks.

Isn't it worth trying to win over a genius wizard who has only been exposed to magic for half a year and can subtly capture an adult employee of the Ministry of Magic? Frankly, admits his mistakes and then provides humanistic care to help Aurelius find his parents in France. Aurelius, who is a baby exiled in New York due to the No-Maj disaster, is thrilled to discover his true origins. This turn of events brings happiness to everyone involved.

Magical Congress of the United States of America should not be faulted for their previous actions. Their upfront admission of mistakes showcases their integrity, which enhances their reputation and fosters a strong bond with the talented wizard, Aurelius.

This mutually beneficial arrangement allows Aurelius to pursue his official career openly and gradually gain influence in the Magical Congress. Ultimately, he can achieve his ambition of transforming the Magical World of the United States using his unique skills and abilities.

This situation presents an opportunity for all parties involved to achieve their goals. Only the French Ministry of Magic and the damaged world would fail to reap the benefits.

However, Aurelius recognizes the potential consequences of his actions. He anticipates that the Magical Congress might take action against him. After all, a wizard baby living among the No-Maj population is seen as a scandal in America. It is akin to igniting a spark on a pile of paper.

Aurelius contemplates taking a different approach. If he were openly and honestly regarded as an enemy by the Magical Congress, he could seize the opportunity to conquer, using his lineage to establish his magical empire.

With the absence of powerful wizards like Grindelwald and Dumbledore in the Magical Congress, who would be able to stop him?

This unexpected turn of events leaves everyone in a perplexing situation. Aurelius had prepared a script for their future, but Picquery decided to expel him. How can I make sense of this?

No matter how it is viewed, this expulsion seems foolish. Yet, this seemingly foolish decision holds Aurelius back.

Should he resist or should he comply? Resistance would only lead to deportation by the Magical Congress. If he resists, he will end up being a wanted criminal, much like Grindelwald. Justice would not be served.

On the other hand, obedience seems unthinkable. Aurelius regards America as his private territory. How can they just let him leave?

Does this mean that the foolish are rewarded? Is this foolish idea a way for the Ministry of Magic to escape the consequences?
