Ethan's eyes darkened as he looked around the empty room.
The room was spotless as if no one had ever lived there in the first place.
"How difficult is it to watch over one person?"
"I've failed you, sir."
Elly lowered her head. She had been the one who stayed behind as Ethan and John went out for business. Her attention had been focused on receiving all the goods to prepare for the coming winter, so she wasn't aware of what had happened until it was too late.
She frantically sent people out to search for Adelina, but Adelina had already escaped by horse.
"I'm sorry, Master."
"Where is the blue-eyed child who was here in the Mistress's stead?"
Elly turned around when she heard Ethan's question. A few moments later, Jeff was dragged in front of Ethan by the other servants. He was brought to his knees before him.
"Even if you slit my throat, I cannot tell you where the Mistress went."
